    Traxxas Scaler Prototype

    Some interesting pics n specs doing the rounds;

    http://www.tcphotos.com/getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img169_27201771003_1.jpg

As spotted at the WEMU RC ScaleShop site in Switzerland, these pics show the prototype scaler that Traxxas is showing (leaking is more like it) at the Nuremberg show.

Land Rover Defender D110 body with lots of molded details, including fender liners. Expect Traxxas to officially license the body if they stick with the Defender.

Ladder chassis with steel rails, centered motor and battery, quick-release strap, nice. Motor is labeled “Titan 21T Reverse Rotation.”

Portal Axles - Note how the axles step down to reach the center of the wheels. More ground clearance, and greater gear reduction.

Note three mini-servos on chassis. Two are for locking the front and rear diffs, like Summit. The third is a high-low shifter? Or a center diff? Most likely high-low. XL-5 looks standard, but will probably get different programming–unlikely Traxxas would build a rig this trick and not set up the speed control with a crawler-strength drag brake.

    Specifications:
    - Steel Ladder Frame Chassis
    - Front Center Mounted Motor
    - Front & Rear Remote Looking Diffs
    - Two Speed Transmission
    - Portal Axle For increased Ground Clearance
    - Detailed D110 Defender Body & Bumpers

It's already been confirmed at at least £499... But liable to go up.

I think for that I'd just go for the real deal... RC4WD :P

    But wheelies and stuff.

Does anyone know any official release dates for over here, I've been told 25th of June just wondering if it could be sooner?

Had one of the first in hand at the weekends g6 nationals.....

    i want one soooo much!!!

its no where near as big as it looked on the pics, the wheels and arches make the truck look big.

looks a well sorted truck to be honest and looking forward to hearing how the review model does.

Thats what my daughter expects from a scaler lol. She bashes it pretty well. Reverse roly polys is her trick lol.

The more I see the less I like.

    Edit

Is it just me or do the rear axles on the 2 trucks in the above video not line up with the body?

I must admit, my SCX10 has been bashed... With a 35t motor on 3s, it's quite nippy.

Yep, the pictures don't do it any justice, once in hand it looks very impressive and well sorted.

i have a red one reserved at my lhs, should be in my grubby hands in September.

couple of downsides to it, tyres aren't much cop (what I've heard) and the cables are a little exposed near the servo for the diff locks. Otherwise can't find anything else with it.

Reckon one of these should be the prize for Christmas!!

Looks great - don't care if it is Traxxas - have a lot of excellent ideas - final assembly and material selection has been the major issues in the past.

Ive had mine since June 17th and I love it, no bother with it yet either, steering servo is a tad weak but still works.  Got a few mods fitted inc rc4wd arb style bumper and warn winch, got a chequer plate kit to go on then order wheels and tyres.

Really? They seem brilliant, but I guess I haven't had a shot of it, to find out! :P

Exactly, nothing wrong with finding ones own preferences, but I have got a set ready just in case :whistling:
