and you think...hmmm...that might work. Was tidying my stock of Hyper parts up, seperating and putting together complete assemblies just to see what I had after I got everything unpacked following a recent house move. Shocks, wheels, a load of parts... I also had my brushless converted one out on the table as I was thinking about a rework of it's component layout. Was looking at the bits all together, comparing the steering setups..... when I also found this....which I had put together a little while back. It's made up from 2 spare Hyper 7 diff cases, with the mating surfaces cleaned up, and a slice out for a shock tower. Basically...it's a pass through diff for a 6 wheel drive setup. I plan to make a tube to replace the driveshaft cups to link the pinions together... Now I want to build this.... I mean...everyone should have a 6 weheel drive 4 wheel steer buggy.... right?6 points

I broke it with 6S 😁 Okay that's unfair, inspecting it, it seems the wrong gear was used as it's 15T as opposed to 16T as per the losi manual. Given the age (10+ years old) and then a sudden blast of 4S and then 6S I'm not surprised. Learnt a lot by stripping it down. Can't wait to get this running again.6 points

You and @Yrkoon should go into business together! bet it will do the job just fine, and if it only cost a few drill bits and your sense of smell it was well worth it.5 points

Replaced the battered supra shell with a shiny new one. Couldn’t find a reasonably priced Tamiya shell so went HPI. I’m sort of wishing I wasn’t such a cheap skate now, as the detail isn’t as good as Tamiya, but if you squint it’s okay. I’m pleased with how the wheels turned out having sprayed them gold.5 points

A parcel off of @53HRAtoday. Was about to buy a wraith and the remembered I'd seen the trailrunner for sale so went for that instead!4 points

New pinion, tyres and wheels for my SCX10 III the wheels are Amazon specials, but seem good so far. I’m doubly pleased as they’re making the body more to my liking. Might have to use the sticker set this weekend to finish it off.3 points

Pfft, this is her doing, buy a MT she said. Buy a cute truck she said, we have both now. I was supposed to be downsizing the fleet so I can focus on big 8 and her Hyper 7. On the subject of her Hyper, it's running lovely with TQ shocks all round, geometry done properly etc. It's definitely closed the huge gap I experienced between the 8ight and H7. There's still a gap with that said, but it's amazing how versatile these Hypers are.2 points

Very nice! How could you invest that much money in something only to decide in ten minutes it’s not for you?! Their loss, your gain!2 points

Not being pedantic (totally am) but isn't that a Nissan R35 GTR?2 points

There's a few outstanding problems I'm waiting on parts to fix now. Various bolts are rattling loose during running. It lost an exhaust manifold screw (M2.6x25, such an awkward size) and the engine mount bolts keep coming loose resulting in disengaging from the pinion. It also managed to lose the air filter foam (twice) so a new air filter is on order.2 points

The fuel system was giving me some grief - serious air bubbles from the tank and difficulty in fine tuning. This was remedied by some longer fuel lines from the exhaust (more stable tank pressure) and longer run from the tank to the carb. Pictured are the new lengths. While there I added some fuel hose clamps to isolate the fuel tank between runs, hopefully saving the need to drain the tank as often.2 points

Step 2 - shell modifications. Used a deep socket to mark out the location of the glow plug on the roof to drill a glow starter hole. Windscreen got a hole drilled for refueling and cooling. Passenger window got a hole drilled, which allows me to poke the pullstart handle out upon fitting the shell. Holes were a mix of metal step drill and metal holesaws. Voila, the car can now be started and refueled with the shell on.2 points

I managed a few small test drives but had some teething problems. It's now running and tuned as well as a novice can do it. One thing I did find annoying was being unable to start and refuel the car with the body on which led to be driving with the body off a lot. Time to remedy that. Step 1 - rotate the pull starter 90 degrees to face the 'passenger' side of the car. Small amount of filing required to properly rotate the backplate to support this.2 points

Hello all, For ages I've wanted to do a bodyshell as a tribute to the Ford Mustang from the classic film Bullitt. I can't seem to find a suitable shell as a starting point though. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks1 point

I bought myself a flysky FS-GT5 (the same radio as the Absima CR6P and the Turnigy GT5) earlier in the year and have been getting on well with it so far. Based on what you list for your requirements I think it should cover everything you need and you should be able to pick on up (with a BS6 gyro receiver) in budget. It looks like Amazon have them in with next day prime delivery for £70 or you could pick up one for a bit less from ebay/aliexpress/bangood if you don't mind waiting a bit for it to turn up (and are happy to risk not having much in the way of customer support if you need to return it). https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Flysky-FS-GT5-Transmitter-FS-BS6-Receiver/dp/B07B2SVQ3M https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32853463294.html1 point

Yep works a treat and far easier to apply to small bolts as you can just roll the thread end in it 👍1 point

Nice work. Doesn’t ‘need’ stickers, has a good clean look as is 👍🏻1 point

Not sure if it helps but I have used 3racing alloy Sakura upgrade shocks in the past and find them pretty good, also MST TR56 shocks are very good. The MST shocks don't fit with ball joints if I remember correctly but I am sure you'll find a way to get them on (I might have remembered wrong) The building of them makes the difference, take your time and don't overfill for the perfect balance of rebound and softness1 point

😳 oops, yeah could well be? Not sure how I came to the conclusion it is a supra? I acquired it and clearly have limited car knowledge. Thanks for the heads up!1 point

Thanks bud that looks like it could work! Looks very low on the pics but I think that's maybe just how protoform mount them1 point

@Ant.p the scooby looks nice mate, most of the shells get battered up anyway, sometimes I wonder why I bother to sand and re-coat mine only to get scuffed up the next time I use the RC car...1 point

Good little runners these are. I have some how accumulated 3 and a half of these in the garage1 point

First and second test drives were cut short because the pullstart spring became dislocated and the cable didn't retract. The pullstart seems a nonstandard size on this GX15 engine so a £6 eBay job wasn't the fix. It's now drilled with a mushroom head bolt keeping the spring locator firmly in place. Free fix and proven to be working on my last outing.1 point

Been working on getting my old hyper ready for speed runs, did a quick shakedown. It's got so much to give, wasnt able to max it not even 50% throttle and a very short run. Needs a few tweaks but im confident ill get 100 out of her at least. Already faster than my Limitless 😂1 point

This is a photo taken after the worst of it, must have been half submerged in a huge silt filled puddle. I ran it through the river afterwards to wash the worst of it off before it mixed with mud and turned to an abrasive paste lol. I have footage, I'll post it up soon You can see through the windows that water doesn't get churned up inside the body. That was the only time anything manager to work it's way past the fenders.1 point
