@.AJ. - Made some "stiffeners" (I think the name needs work) for the MT bumpers. I havent tested them yet, and I'm hoping these will work as is, but I have an idea to improve them if I have to do more. They're basically just a soft plastic (TPU) and so they're still bouncy, just not excessively so. They should still absorb energy but should stop the plastic over extending and breaking.3 points

I had it out today. I didn't realise at the time but it stripped the spur too so back on slower gearing for now. Tbh it was a blessing in disguise, it promoted me to sort a few little bits out that needed tweaking and now it's running better than ever! 80mph will be mine soon enough 🙂3 points

Hmm. Don't really understand you reasoning. Golf opens only as of today. Same goes with tennis courts, football fields and other outdoor sports. I wouldn't consider football a rich men's sport. Many other outdoor sports open from today, which are not "rich men's" sports. In addition from today we are also permitted recreational activities. That include pick-nicks as well as taking out your RC cars only for the purpose of it.3 points

Not really, it’s a bit small and there is really only one jump that’s any good for a RC2 points

The Hobao Hyper 7 PBS buggy found its way underneath that Subaru shell, odd looking shell as it was proportioned for 1/8 rallycross buggies, but to be fair it did look great going around the track. As for the buggy itself, it was its usual reliable performance on the off-road track, wheels never ground out within the arches of the shell which was a bonus too. I then ended up switching to a DHK Hunter SCT chassis under the scooby shell for a while as we were indoors more often than not when racing. As Jack R' says above, the Hobao Hyper GT is terrific car, very solid and stable, there's a few at our club. Would need work doing on it though for it be used off-road as ground clearance isn't great.2 points

Just to hi-jack your post a bit, I've not had an RC car for about 20 years or so now and I'm kind of in the same position at the minute but after a 1/8, I had my heart set on the Arrma Typhon 3s but the £320 price tag is a bit too high for me. I've got a £50 Amazon voucher I was going to use to buy one which would have bought it down to a more acceptable price but just my bloody luck it must be the only Arrma model not on there! Are there any other suggestions for a 1/8 for £2-250ish, I've seen a few off brand ones but looking at a few youtube videos they don't look that great. I have been looking at the smaller scale ones aswell like 1/10 but would prefer a 1/8 just coz I like the bigger cars. I was looking at the China specials aswell like WLToys 124019 but waiting 3-4 weeks for parts would get old fast and tbh they don't actually look that great. I know I should probably not expect great quality at this price range but would be nice to get something that doesn't turn to dust when you take it out of the box. If i can't find a decent enough 1/8 I might just get the FTX Vantage like Gtiracer as I could get the brushless one off Amazon for £150, worth it? I won't be belting it off skate park ramps or anything just maybe some small dirt bmx park jumps and mainly used on grass/gravel. Been trawling on here, Ebay and Gumtree etc aswell for a couple of months to see if there's anything pre-owned local but never anything about and would prefer new as had really bad experiences buying 2 pre-owned nitro's in my late teens which is when I last had an RC car! Thanks1 point

I've no idea. Plastic return to its moulded shape with heat? Edit - Just remembered I gave the wheel to my kids to play with and I haven't seen it since 😅1 point

Looks like they've produced their own Gopro Session, @Kevin Talbot loved those, but they've discontinued them.1 point

Another 78mph. Still haven't managed to hold full throttle with that gearing for more than a second.1 point

Hi, We have a very active thread just for Canage/Vantage. Nevertheless this is what I have done my Carnage, which is practically the same as a Vantage. Hobbywing EZRun Max10 Combo with a 4000KV motor. 3300KV is also fine. This servo: Etronix ET2072, https://www.etronix-rc.com/etronix-30-3kg-0-09s-std-digi-servo-hv-metal-gear-waterproof It has quite a high steering speed. But any good servo will be ok and better than the stock one. Like this, you can use 2S for "cruising" or 3S for madness. I recommend hardened steel spur & pinion: ebay shop from a fellow member of this forum: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/DJW-RC-Transmissions?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 Currently he has none, but you should wait for the ones with 32DP pitch. Larger teeth = stronger. Choose the right pinion for your setup. Factors to take into account: Speed or acceleration, chosen motor (4000 or 3300). I use a 10 teeth pinion and a 49 teeth spur. Be aware that you will put a lot of strain on the drivetrain and things tend to fail more quickly: driveshafts, differentials. The Vantage is fairly simple, so you easily get a hang of fixing, upgrading, etc. Here are some videos of what you are getting into after the upgrade:1 point

You got 5 bashes our of it!?!?!?!?!?!?!? You lucky bugger!! I think I cracked mine proper on skate park run 2! 🙈 With regards paint, after a really good degrease (carb cleaner) then I managed to get some acrylic paint pens to stick a bit. Again, it doesn't look great up close but ok from a distance, and most importantly it seems to stay on till it is scraped proper hard on concrete.... Certainly a blind man would be proud of the looks 👍🤣1 point

The senton body is quite long in the front yes. Maybe take a measurement from the tower to the end of the senton bumper to have an idea how much it would need to stick out by. I only change my senton bumper for the big rock one when I changed the body1 point

Yeah, it was always coming eventually. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it first looked. I popped the old wheels back on and took it for a bit of a shakedown run today. All seems good so I'll be out again soon chasing that 80mph 👍1 point

I’ve gone past worrying about what it looks like, I just want it to last longer than 5 bash’s 😂😂😂1 point

I have a mate who wraps cars for a living and he reckons he has adhesion promoter that works on polypropylene, so hopefully I’ll be able to get some decals and window stickers to stay on longer than 5 mins, obviously I will report back 👍1 point

Thanks for that info Rebel158 ,great help, I also checked the manual and some how got confused due to forgetting I had a Fuse 550 motor laying around and thought my 7.5 540 can will be fine lol, this is how the confusion started which led to me purchasing 48p spurs & pinions : SC10 4x4 info : written in an article. ACCEPTS 550 OR 540 MOTORS ''The speed freaks among us will opt for a high-powered, 550-size brushless motor, but Associated stresses that the 4×4 ran perfectly well during testing with a 540-size standard brushless motor, too. The only motor AE is aware of that will not fit is Novak’s Ballistic SC 550, as the motor can is 7mm too long. Existing 550-size LRP and Tekin motors fit perfectly, as do all 540-size brushless motors''🤨 What they failed to mention was that all 540 size motors with 5mm shafts will work.. lol the shaft on a 540 3.17mm dia is no way long enough, and if you fit it the pinion would be hanging off... Been searching the 32p pinions as I have the 32p 62t spur but all I can find is Axial's, could you let us know if you went with Axial pinion or was it another brand ? cheers This is my old motor and esc, it should be enough to push this beast around 🙄, so now focusing on this with 32p pinions 😁1 point

The potato! hehe.. Actually, I've found the probody ones to have a bit more detail than others. My C10 is from them 👍 And regardless of exacting looks, they don't half take a beating!!1 point

So, mine originally came with one of the 3700kv (5,5T) 550 LRP motors, which I believe were one of the cans recommended by Team Associated in their catalogue. The chart in the catalogue mentions using the 32p 62t spur, and those motors have a 5mm shaft, with the recommendation being circa a 13t pinion. My new motors both have a 5mm shaft, and having spoken with the a couple of model shops/enthusiasts, the general concensus is that the 13t pinion should be fine, and so far it is. It can be quite confusing, and I'm far from expert on the matter, but if using a larger can (which will almost certainly have a 5mm shaft) you would probably need to look at using the 32p spur. Happy to be corrected 🙂1 point

The 1/8th Hobao Hyper GT can be used as a rally car, looks lovely and as it comes as a roller good to add own electrics1 point

I say the RC community is Discriminated against as its not part of the ( Rich mans club image ) and seen by some as being childish toys !!! Golf and Angling on the other hand is part of a rich mans club image ( known the right sort !!! ) So Angling is seen as exercise-proof... https://anglingtrust.net/2021/01/07/fishing-to-be-allowed-during-national-lockdown-angling-trust-announcement/ So Golf is seen as exercise- proof.... https://uk.yahoo.com/news/tee-time-comes-early-golf-022714343.html I sometimes do lots of walking even running after RC Cars / RC Hovercraft's / RC Drones/ and rowing after RC Boats RC can be = more Exercise than Golf and Angling...... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a load of those teathered body pins, they really are top. My only advice would be to give them another crimp if you have the tool, as it can come loose. All I did today was try and make some inserts for the MT410 bumper, which didnt really work... V2 printing as I type. I also did some minor maintenence on my daughters Maverick ION (heavily modded). Just put a bigger motor in (3600KV up from 3000KV, still relatively tame) and sorted out the servo arm which was slipping. If that slips again, I think it will need a new one.1 point

I’ve been running 2s lipo through my stock ESC, really abusing it crawling over seriously nasty terrain, no problems here with the ESC - but the factory motors do burn easily if not regularly allowed to cool1 point

My usual tasks. Fixing up the Carnage for my son. Rear carbon shock tower. Hopefully, the suspension rods don't break out anymore. My son didn't believe that they are stronger. They are too light to be strong. I promised him a Traxxas e-Revo 2.0 if he breaks the new shock towers. He gave up after 10 minutes. Tethered body shell pins. No more loosing them. Rebuilt the diffs to keep as spares.1 point

I've bent mine too on some runs, (droop adjusted for) but I do still run a pretty stock soft set up as I like the traction it offers on rough terrain... Oh, and skate parks take no prisoners!!!🤣1 point

OK update can't stop fiddling no clubs back open so can drive I may stop customising I think there are only 5 parts original tamiya left. First designed and printed wheel nut markers Then I changed rear suspension for the LESU setup looks nice yet to see if it makes a difference Then I got some 8mm stainless steel tube and made my own stacks And finally got a new load for the trailer as the D11 I had on it was not RC so seemed a bit pointless having working rear ramps and I think that load didn't look right scale weight wise for my trailer1 point

Why oh why of all days of coming back to the forum does this have to pop up. Terrible timing, i'm off to the shed to see if I can free up some RC funds now 😆1 point

Breakages of RC cazrs are a natural part of the hobby, unless you drive slow ( OK...crawler owners, I know you are meant to!) I am assuming the break happened during a crash, rollover or similar. Now, how you progress here really depends on how you want this to go in the longer term, and whether you or your son are going to be in the hobby long term, what you want to get out of it, and what aspects of it you enjoy the most. So...what would I do here? The WL Toys car you have is a cheap car. For what it costs...its not a bad thing. But you have got what you paid for. But it's a good thing to learn the ropes on until you get to the level where it just can;t handle what you want to do in, when you will upgrade to something bigger, faster and better. But as you have just broken one part here, look at what upgrade options are available. It looks a bit flimsy with all the stress concentrated on 3 little areas, rather than being one solid moulding. I would fit an upgraded part and go back out and see what happens. If the thing breaks somewhere else...look at the next upgrade. This is all very much part of the hobby, and if you read the threads in this forum...most of the experienced old hands are modifying and upgrading their cars either because they want to or they need to. Usually both! If you want a car that has decent speed, durability, reliability and only costing £60....well....if such a beast existed, we'd all have them. A £60 car is either going to be slow...or its gonna break. You have bought one of the best cheap cars out there....you found a weak point...fix it 🙂 Make it better, then go back out with your lad and see what breaks next.1 point

ROSSA used to use the runoff area at Shakespeare dragstrip at Stratford Upon Avon, this was much more central, but it was only around 300m long and pretty rough in the braking area. Unfortunately the land got sold in around 2015 to build houses on, so we managed to move to the Snowdonia aerodrome in Llanbedr instead. Good thing is the new location is spot on perfect. I'm pretty confident we wouldn't be able to find anywhere as perfect in the midlands at the price they charge us with a runway as long and as smooth/well maintained. It is a long drive for most people and sadly that is prone to put people off, but it is 100% worth a visit. We have 2 events planned so far this year, a 3 day event in June and a 2 day event in August. Starting to see a decent amount of people on here getting into budget or general speed running which is great to see 😄 Anyone and everyone are welcome at ROSSA events, even just as a visitor/spectator, so be great to hopefully see some new faces 👍1 point
