  1. your Ultima looks ace mate, kinda makes me wanna get mine out to restore too! you'll enjoy the car as it makes a great runner. you should try taking it out to the annual Iconic Revival Race weekend, you'll be hooked on vintage racing afterwards 😁
  2. The ultima is a good choice and generally you’ll find that Kyosho’s build quality is supreme over Tamiya, however, Tamiya kits are fun to build and cool to look at. The re re Kyosho buggies have updated gearboxes so they can take faster modern motors compared to back in the day so you could race them quite comfortably at the vintage events and even fun club nights. I personally run and race the Kyosho Scorpions and Optimas. Feel free to checkout my website to see some of the vintage Kyosho racers I get up to: https://www.kengor.racing
  3. There was a lot of noise about the WLtoys 104001 back then as it was a buggy that looked and specc’ed like a modern race buggy but at an unbelievably low price so I thought I’d get one to see what it was all about. For the price, you do get a lot like plenty of alloy from the shocks, shock towers and chassis. The car also comes fully rtr with all the electrics, lipo, charger and tx. The result is you get a lot but you get what you pay for. As a light basher and a very occasional racer it’s fine as long as you respect the cars limitations. For me, I quite like it for what it is.
  4. Had this for a while but it’s currently my favourite 1/8th buggy as I think the body shape and style looks really cool. The body is very curvy and streamlined and the rear wing is very batman’esque.
  5. Hi mate, I painted the bodyshell myself. My car came with the clear bodyshell and the black and white are my racing colours. It's not a difficult paint scheme so feel free to give it a try.
  6. Hi mate, it's just got a budget sensorted 1/8th motor and ESC. I'm not that serious a racer on the 1/8th scene so didn't want to spend a load on it. Should be enough for what I want it to do. TX wise, I use a Flysky iT4s which is a relatively old one but still works for me.
  7. After a bit of a lengthy wait ( 2 months to be exact ), the batteries for my Typhoon have arrived! Hopefully these 3000mah batteries will give me more runtime than my original 900mah ones from back in the day. I just need to find my old nimh charger now amongst all the other all bits and pieces 😂
  8. Here’s my humble Tamiya TT02B Dual Ridge buggy in my racing colours. A few blue bling additions such as the arms, shock towers, prop shaft and shocks which are more for show than anything else.
  9. Something that might excite the vintage racers amongst us. My Avante donning the new 2.2’ racing Avante/Egress style wheel rims. These are brand new, hot off the production line from JC Racing and allow us to use modern 2.2’ racing tyres on these rims, something I’ve been waiting a long time for!
  10. Very nice 👍 The bandit chassis is very simple, robust and versatile ....... I can see why it is very popular ........ 2s seems to be right for the chassis, controlled bashing ........
  11. I’ll be honest, I know almost nothing about nitro ..... had one when I was a kid and fuel went everywhere in the garage and stank the place out for ages ....... never touched a nitro since 😂 ..... seen some pro’s racing nitro and they look alright ......
