  1. HPI did the initial research in the the design, what matirials to use, etc. KM took the HPI and copied it, because they are able to get one to market quicker and didn't have to spend as much getting it designed and stuff, they don't have the over heads HPI do. that said, the HPI has been out for many many years now, so you could argue that any extra costs from designing the baja have long since been recovered, so why has the price of the hpi hardly changed. as for the rest of you post, i hope you enjoy the bickering of 5 year olds cause that how 99% of thread such as this one end up sounding like. my advise is to look on google and the forum about it, it been covered more times than a nun's body.

  2. A username popped up today that I've not seen in some time, which got me thinking, who are our oldest active members? The forum was started in 2002 (I was only 14!) but unfortunately due to loss of data and software changes, the current database only goes back as far as late 2004! Sadly, I am the only 2004 member still active (active been online in the last week, 1st April). But here are the ones from 2005: deejayy2 Glenn Atterton hyper.seven Leo R46 Schern Tamiyacowboy Thunderwolf y0k0 So congrats guys and thank-you for sticking around. *clap clap clap*

A Pleasure Nick. forum was once a young spritely thing,...... hey a bit like yourself back in them days Nick lol but over the years i seen it grow up. its taken knocks and bumps but always been my daily read. same can go for yourself, you have grown up into a fine chap . can remember the chats we had about members, bans, threadnoughts etc etc and, us always saying just roll with it. but you can say when we said " we told you so " lol we already knew how popular MSUK would become. You were and still are the firey spark that started of this huge massive slow burn, thats gonna keep on burning bright. us members we are just those that like to pour petrol on the fire to keep it stoked up high lol. here to another couple decades of MSUK

  7. Hi folks im throwing this out here for you guys to see on be half of my completely computer illiterate friend. He is of the opinion that what he has done to his mk1 5b no one wold like so I will show you some pics and let you decide. Bit of background for you he has time and no dosh and I gave him a 5b so he could bash with us, tbh it turned out to be pretty rotten having sat pre bashed for over 2 years but we cant let that stop us. See what you think. How it started. Making a new upper bumper Mocking up Motor makeover Mocking bumper to chassis Cant buy braces? No probs make em Bumper gets mounted. Whilst we're at it we may as well add some bash plates And yes all the shine is hand polished alloy. Thanks for looking, Jay

  8. Hi, So as title suggests, I was into the Tamiya big rigs big time quite a while ago, after seeing the trucks on a regular basis started to fuel the fire again.... Now I'm not going for mfu set ups as I've been there done that and it's another rc for what they cost so just half decent electrics and a tidy looking truck is all I'm after. Also got a Tamiya flat bed trailer too although no pics of that..... First up is the merc, it started life as the box truck but I decided to convert it back to a tractor unit, fitted bearings throughout, super singles on the front, light bar and a few little odds and sods, to complete I want some better more aggressive rear tyres and that'll do for me...... Next up is a Scania r620, bought this with the limited edition orange shell and modified side skirts, again bearings throughout, decent electrics and a little "tarting" up, needing some more super singles for it and better rear tyres. Sorry for the poor pics, I'll aim to get some better ones on there next outing.....

  10. I think I'll be going with the Vertigo Carbon Triple set up... Possibly going to buy the TR tranny plate and one piece brake mount at the same time, but not sure yet. Will have to see how much I feel like spending

  12. Been running the Marauder for a while now, in woods, on the beach, car parks etc. Really enjoying this truck. It handles very well, has plenty of power and is a solid piece of kit. I had a slight issue with the chassis missing a couple of screws but the service I received from century uk was outstanding. Very happy overall. I highly recommend the Marauder. I tried to upload some video footage but couldn't work out how to do it. Will try again at some point. All good fun!

  18. Belt drive vs dogbone.. The carisma is defintely more of a 'racer' , mainly due to the tuning parts available. Imo rate your driving skill level. The emb lends itself to the lesser driver better imo. Note that the gtb will cost more (if of concern). My emb is out driving 8.5t 1:10's at my local. The carisma I have been driving can simply be 'tuned' further which is great, but imo not for the coin even if I am planning on buying one . The emb is silky when tuned though and stock setup is not fantastic from my limited experience. As you know, driver is most and car is that bit extra. Any chance of a drive before buy for Alex?

  19. A story, a story of a lad who took a risk and lost! Big time! Lady luck decided to let him off the hook. It's long, but at least wait til you've seen the first few throws with the grappling hook, it's hilarious! Then you can fast forward. E-Revo 6 days under water: https://youtu.be/5pN3II7fNzk

  23. Parts are out there..... just don't spend too much sorting it out: http://www.sriremotetoys.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1444&osCsid=0c852da86d40d9390e40911c896728f0 Keep in mind the fact that the car will never be worth a fortune, and get it up and running as a way of getting to grips with nitro. The mistake people make is buying a cheap car and spending loads on blingy upgrades....only to find that the car is still worth basically what they paid for it and all the money they ploughed in was totally wasted. At least driving errors will be cheap to fix

  24. Best bet would be to try pick up another chassis for spares, rather than individual spares. I'll have a look in the shed to see if any I have any still about though.

  25. 3rd replacement keyboard for the wife's laptop!! Toddler's pretty efficient at total destruction of them! We'd had no problems - through care and avoidance (returning to a case before leaving the room) - for at least 3 months, so I left it for 3 minutes - time to make a cuppa. Should have taken a photo - nearly EVERY key had been removed!! Perhaps he's trying to tell me something! Al.

  27. Yeah I know noj, not looking to run it on the wrong setting just want to know which battery to have plugged in when I switch it over =) I've seen the aftermath of plenty of lipo fires on here, trying to avoid it myself lol

  28. No need to worry, just enter programme mode with any suitable power source that will turn on esc. cell count is only for LVC activation. If u set it for 6s and run a 4s LVC cuts in straight away. If u set it for 4s and run 6s LVC will bork your lipo below 3.0V per cell (big no no)

  30. When driving does this happen or when benched up. if your benched up and finding one wheel rotation quicker than others ( they should all roughly rotate at same speed ) theres a good chance something is not very tight up in the diff itself, be it either a lack of oil, or possible wear on a spline. when a spline is shot out say a left spline, the right wheel spline will start to rotate faster. its leaching the power becasue of the slipping of the spline teeth. Under power and when turning, the front speeds up ? this could be the diff again but more so on the oil level and its setting , or it will shift to shocks and the oil weights and springs. tends to be both and a small dab of the drivers agressiveness in driving. a sign of over rotation is ballooning and this is due to weight shift issues and setup, or just blatent to much power ( in your case thats outta the window) first way to the cure is to, drive and learn how to replicate the error 100% all the time. ie it could be your agressiveness into a corner that is causing the front ballooning. first place is driving style, second is diff extraction and build , third is setup balance

  36. Lol, might have to make this a bigger bash..... My 90 has 12oz in each front and with the wheels and tyres comes in at over 14oz, believe me it does need it to keep the wheels down. My dodge on the other hand has 6oz in each front but runs a lexan shell, each very different to drive but satisfying nevertheless....

  38. Well, I had managed to convince myself that I didn't want a DRX. Then, I found this for sale. It was so cheap I just couldn't refuse. only been run once so it's as good as mint. So, at least now I get to see for myself how they compare to my WR8. I know this is the WR8 thread but thought I'd share.

  41. Another week closer and Fay has taken part in her first real race. She did really well. Not only was it her first ever race it was also the furthest distance she has run for. Here's a little pic of her before the start. I am so proud of her. She's gone from couch potato to running machine. I'm really looking forward to her completing the wolf run. Let help spur her on and raise some more money for breast cancer
