Ive ordered Kyosho Micron tape

I see I should have looked in here before posting up on the other thread. Interested to see how it turns out and hear how much "fun" it is to put on.

The MST Wheels came. I need to get new tyres as these aren’t as wide, but theyre much better detailed and a much better colour I think youll agree:

Here’s stock:

Here’s the MSTs

Theyre genius in the way you can set the offset. You lock it into each ridge providing a different offset. One thing I dont like, you have to glue them together once set. I wont be doing this as its a shelfer, just need to sort some tyres but I thought Id update this thread

Picked up some spare tyres. I bough about 10 sets of these for about £1.50 each from Plaza Japan, and refreshed my TL01s haha. I had to bite the bullet and pay UK Retail for these. Ignore the ESC

I think the MSTs look far better, but I appreciate with more talent, you can make the stock ones look perfect. As you can see the stock rears are wider hence me needing new tyres

Gone with 3mm front offset, 9mm rear.

New Wheels, much better

Just need to add trim tape, paint the wing/mirrors then look into the wheelbase modification. Also means I now have a brand new set of Decals/bodyshell/wheels/tyres boxed up 🙂

Here is the wheelbase modification required.

Why Tamiya did this THREE TIMES I dont know. The TA02W was never the right chassis.

For reference this is the 30th Anniversary with the correct 230mm wheelbase. Unfortunately these are worth a fortune now. If youre interested I suggest you have a read through this thread! This IMO is the best Tamiya kit ever:

So moving on from this 6 months later, lets look into it.

I didnt want to cut or chop anything. But luckily, whilst browsing Tamiya Club, I found some reasonably priced custom carbon plates, but 6mm shorter.... I snapped them up and they arrived 10 days later from the US:

For the record, heres the issue were trying to sort. Look how far forward the front wheel is

So, electrics out

Lets look at the upper deck first to see the 6mm difference

PS, look how dusty this is! This has never even been used haha!

Organised chaos I like to call this

Starting to transplant stuff over

I got a bit confused as theres some spacers that dropped out, luckily I had a Carbon Conversion kit with instructions

It even had a spare battery mount to replace my broken one…..

All done….. well

Chassis plates are half the story. This is a 4WD model so the prop shaft needs shortening by 6mm. Now this is a shelfer, so wont be used so I considered leaving it Rear Wheel Drive like the real one (at least I think the real one is RWD?). However this decision was taken out of my hands, because somehow Ive lost the drive shaft. Seriously. Ive no idea where its gone? Im sure itll turn up! Hopefully. Anyway.

The genius part of this kit is these 3D Printed body post spacers. They allow you to move the body posts to save re drilling your shell. When painted black theyll be invisible

So how short is it? Wheel here it is compared to my TT-02SRX with a 258mm wheelbase

Doesnt look too crazy until you try to mount a normal wheelbase shell……

So a before…….

and after……

Bit more fettling to do, not a lot I can do about the previously cut arch…. Unless I paint up the brand new shell?

Anyway Im off to find the prop shaft…..

looking very good, i was aware of this wheelbase error, but that porsche is to nice to sit on a shelf, i would have to run it

Meh, my mood at the minute is I have no interest in running anything, thats acceptable with the Tamiya's, but not with my Traxxas stuff.....
