The chassis will be a GCM racing CMAX leaf spring affair with scale transmission (this is currently on its way from Canada). The upfront motor (yet to be decided) will be shrouded in MrCommad 3D printed 454 big block engine (also on its way from Canada) Wheels will be Gear Head 1.55 slot mags and will be wrapped in either Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ or Fallen Wildpeak AT3 tyres The body will start life as an RC4WD blazer which as of today has now begun the process of being cut and shut for the long wheel base. Whilst I wait on the cab side extension being 3D printed I have extended the rear by approx 16mm. Popular Post stupar Posted August 2, 2023 Author Popular Post Share Posted August 2, 2023 Well after what has felt like a long wait, my GCM Racing CMAX chassis kit arrived today so set about building it up. Quite an easy kit to build, excellent hardware included too. No instructions for wheelbases out with 313mm but it didn't take much to build it out to a 345mm wheelbase. The kit came with driveshafts and shocks but I have my personal favourite s for these parts so will follow a different path. The wheels are Gearhead 1.55 slot mags wrapped in 90mm Goodyear Wrangler MTR tyres. First up was to replicate the shock layout as would be on a real truck. This means upside down angled shocks. To make this work I have use the RC4WD 40mm 1/18th scale shocks I've also made up a steering stabilizer bar on the front axle I also got some 3D printed parts made up which act as a cab holder as well as battery and electronics trays The final piece for just now is a 3D printed engine block all the way from Canada, printed by Scale Design by Mr CommaD this thing is huge and so detailed from the oil pan on the bottom all the way up to the air filter on top! If you need any specific parts for your truck build then I highly recommend Lesu parts. Also check out KKTruckstore too if you haven't already. The engine is a really nice detailed piece. Here's a wee update where I have added some HT leads between the dizzy and the block Re the 3D printed parts, my understanding is that the MOD 19 stuff is amongst the best. The Shrink RC cab back panel is good but there is a lot of negative comments about their bed extensions. Can't speak for Scale Monkey unfortunately. I should be receiving my MOD 19 printed cab back and bed extension this week so I will post up a progress showing the quality and print from the person that printed them for me as will as overall fitment too. Cutting and shutting the blazer body is a doddle. Primarily because you have a start point for the cut where the cab and bed meet. Just use masking tape to mark your cut line straight down then go for it. Would highly recommend a Japanese saw, the fine scale teeth give a nice clean cut and they go through the ABS plastic like a hot knife through butter so you don't need lots of downward force either. 3 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think my mate has a razor saw so I’ll borrow that as pull saws really do make a night and day difference on this kinda job.
