Popular Post Kpowell911 Posted March 31, 2023 Author Popular Post Share Posted March 31, 2023 So the second TL-01 Focus turned up. Its not as bad as I was expecting so Ill tidy it up and re list it. The good news is, Ive obtained a rear wing, and Ive trimmed the front bumper back to its correctly so it looks a lot neater. I cant do much about the faded/yellowy wheels or mirrors but hey. Underneath, its fine. It all works, with period correct radio gear and MSC (which did get stuck on my bench 😅). Yellowing wheels on the one side. When I was a lad, maybe 7 or 8, the lad, maybe 10 or so houses up from my Cul De Sac, had a Repsol Cosworth TA02…. He used to whizz passed my house and we got talking. His name was Leo. I wanted an RC car, but my parents couldnt afford one, but Leo informed me his cousin was selling an RC Car like his. This must have been around Christmas cause for whatever reason my parents bought me his cousins RC car which turned out to be a Mini Cooper M-01. I ran that car till it wore through the chassis. Eventually, another lad in the Cul de Sac got a Mitsubishi Evo WRC, Im guessing a TA03F. My Mini Cooper couldnt keep up, so eventually I upgraded to a TL-01 Ford Focus, which those of you following will know I managed to obtain. Leo and I, to this day are best friends, almost brothers. He was best man at my Wedding, he set me up in the same trade as me him when I got made redundant. So thought Id try to obtain a Repsol Cosworth next…… Truth be told. Im not really a Ford guy. Im not a massive Cosworth fan, I much preferred the Evos and Impreza’s of that era. That said, I appreciate how desireable and cool the Tamiya Cosworths are. Now onto my ever suffering Mrs. I found a nice Repsol Cosworth deal on facebook marketplace, whilst we were camping. I didnt have that money really, but she offered to lend me some (I didnt take it), and agreed to let me go and get them, once out trip had finished. However, it was a total of 4 RCs….. Tamiya Repsol RS Cosworrh 58176 Tamiya Tiger Stripe Cosworth 58112 Tamiya Michelin Pilot Sport Cosworth 58125 All of these appear to be genuine Tamiya Shells, which was important to me, however the wheels/tyres dont seem to be right, so Ill have to sort that. The 3 of these have interiors and are in very good condition. The fourth is a mint TA02 Chassis, with what looks to be a 2002 Focus WRC. Think its a bit of a mongrel, but its excellent condition. My aim was to keep the 3 Cosworths, sell the Focus and my previous Michelin Sport Cosworth, as this one is better condition. 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Again the wheels arent genuine (I dont think?) and the Steering bell cranks need attention. I think this is a TA-01? My Repsol Cosworth is actually sat on the incorrect chassis. It should be a TA02 not a TA01. Not a massive issue as Tamiya re released the TA02 with a Calibra shell in 2021, and its still avaliable. However Id end up with a body I dont really want. So I kept searching and I found this absolutely MINT TA-02. The plan was to switch over the electrics, Cosworth shell, interior, wheels onto this and sell the TA01 chassis cheap. I have a spare battery clip BTW. HOWEVER! It came with a really nice HKS R32 GTR: This appears to have been an actual model #58140. And I quite like it. So Im going to keep this as it is. To avoid not been in endless loop of replacing TA02s chassis for my Repsol Cosworth.... so Ive obtained another TA02, which comes with a shell that wasn't on a TA02 so I can switch this over when it arrives without feeling guilty 1 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Had some spare time this evening so I built up and fitted the SRX Oil Dampers, with longer eyelets to keep some rally heritage. Kpowell911 Posted May 21, 2023 Author Share Posted May 21, 2023 Finally got the correct chassis for the Repsol Cosworth. It now has a proper TA-02 Chassis on it. Pretty good condition: I need to get some stock hexea, as the TA01 has weird disc brake ones. Also needed to swap the bumpers over, as the Cosworth needed the thinner bumper for the Rally Blocks. I also switched to genuine Tamiya Rally Blocks and Rally Wheels. Not box, but theyre genuine. So here she is As for the TA-01. KC59 Posted April 18 Share Posted April 18 I still have my Tamiya Burns & Reid Subaru Impreza WRC 2001 although it now sports a new digital speed controller, new servo's and a wheel type controller instead of the joysticks it came with. Other upgrades include a full ball bearing kit and new oil filled shocks, alloy wheels with new tyres and fake brake discs.
