Popular Post Kpowell911
Now this is a bit marmite, in fact, id say the negatives favour worse with this than Marmite…… The Traxxas Sledge. I at first was well up for it. Then I kinda weaned off it….. then my interest Piqued when on the 8th of April (Friday just gone) I was on my way to get one….. and they kinda never turned up. Fast forward to today, I see theyre in stock at Appliance Electronics in Walsall. In stock, on the shelf. Rather unceremoniously. Im currently bidding on a used E Revo 2.0, but I told my Mrs, she seemed very excited and said she wanted one, so she sent me the money, and I picked it up: Its not mine, so I cant open it till Thursday when I see her. Her logic is “its a bigger Rustler 4x4” which she adores but has its limits size wise. Full disclosure, if she treats it like her Rustler 4x4, this WONT survive. She has a Maxx that was supposed to fill the “bigger Rustler” void, but I guess that may be sold now. The owner of Appliance Electronics showed me his well used and abused example and it looked like it held up fine so we will see. My initial skepticism is only of the price (£759)
LunsfordRich
I’m in two minds about the sledge. In one sense surely part of the fun is upgrading parts as they break. Essentially you’re just paying a premium to short cut that. That said it’s horses for courses I guess. If you want to spend more time bashing and less tinkering then you pays ya money and makes ya choice!
Kpowell911
This is gonna need upgrades 100% . Do not buy this at £759 and think thats. Spur Gear, Servo and Tyres Im convinced need changing already

Bombproof out the box etc.

I just think this is the price point the “premium” brands going forward. Makes the new Rival MT8 a potential bargain! Ant.p
I popped into my closest hobby shop in bury st edmunds on Saturday. They had already sold 3 of the 4 they had to sell. I had a good look at it on the counter as the one that was left was also being used as a display model (only opened a few hours before I got there). They look impressive, and I did consider it, but decided against in the end. Had it of been £100 cheaper I would have probably taken one. Just a bit too expensive. Kpowell911
Yea, I said to a guy in there, youd be better off with a Used X Maxx over one of these personally at this price point

Kpowell911
So she opened it. I think its a very Handsome looking truck Shell over lapping the front bumper is weird but hey. The body latching system as all the videos/reviews say is amazing, very simple! Theres very little (in fact no) room for bigger electrics, youre stuck with what Id say is a 4x72 motor? Thatll be enough for us, but I cant help think of those 4985/TP Powered EXBs.
Kpowell911
The battery tray is huge, the clip lock system is brilliant and simple, no velcro like “others” and the body pin secure method seems to work well The rest is standard Truggy stuff, nothing you havent seen before, but this is different for Traxxas. Very different. The Upper (fixed plastic) links are very thick, first thing I noticed.
Popular Post Kpowell911
Now for some text. Take from this what you will. Im not agreeing or disagreeing with anyones comparisons etc just saying. Also, these are out of the box impressions. Not ran it for more than 30 seconds yet. This feels like an “ordinary” high ish end Truggy. It doesnt feel Traxxas. It “seems” a notch up. Its £759, its absolutely should feel good, but if I can just talk in a Traxxas Vacuum. In their product line up, I can fully understand why its priced where it is. If we go from say a Rustler 4x4 priced at £450ish, then to a Maxx for £600ish, to an E Revo 2.0 at £650ish, this is then £750ish. If for a second we imagine thats fair game, and thats the prices, then this is priced “well”. For example, it makes an E Revo 2.0 feel toy grade, same with a Maxx etc. Thats maybe down to the additional aluminium, but in the real world that may not be a positive. Obviously it can be argued that the above prices are all £100-150 too expensive in the first place, and the real world isnt a Traxxas Vacuum, it has Arrma’s, Corally’s, Associateds etc in its competition, and maybe theyre better buys. Traxxas probably do market as if in a vacuum, and people like me (although Im one of the few in the UK, theyre mainly all AmErIcAnZ!). Im just saying I can see the logic behind the pricing (although Id still suggest an MT8, 4x lipos and a quad charger would be more sensible buy than this). Im quite happy so far, it honestly does “feel” good. The servo Is getting some stick, but it seemed fast enough, and it did that thing high end servos do where they “glide” under not power. Concerns for me: Jades going to treat it like her half the weight Rustler 4x4 and that WILL break it. The ESC, hopefully an eBay code will drop and I pick up a Max 8, mainly as I just trust them. Tyre balooning. I really dont want to start diff tuning….. oh and I forgot to look for O Rings in the read driveshafts
Stormbringer
At end of the day its you and your mrs thats gonna run it and if you like it cool mate If i was looking for a truck i would consider it but its the price thats its major fault Good write up mate Edited April 13, 2022 by Stormbringer
LunsfordRich
I can see their logic with the pricing it’s just whether you’re willing to pay the Traxxas tax so to speak! I keep looking at the new Maxx thinking of the old man but for the price I’m on a 6s Arrma.

Kpowell911
So first run. Nothing Crazy. Few jumps but nothing that Id expect to cause any issues. Got some decent run time out of 2x Gens Ace 5000mah 3S Lipos. It ran flawlessly. It handles extremely well, jumps very well. Balooning wasnt as bad as the Traxxas video made out. It needs gearing up, as does every RTR. Standard ESC seemed to run well, but currently using adapters which did come undone a few times. Jade said the servo seems slow, but she was only commenting on it when stationary, so dont think itll be an issue. Think she is just used to my faster servo’d RCs. She did mention a new radio, so potentially will just over haul the lot in the near future (ESC, Motor, Servo, Radio). Beauty of a Traxxas is she will get some decent money back. But thats NOT necessary. Next bash will be at the dirt jumps, so will give a better idea. It needs gearing up, but going to wait for after market lower teeth better quality Spur to become avaliable. So far Im very happy with it. May even grab myself one….
