Popular Post Lone-wolf
I guess this is my first build of 2022, been after a fairly light non scale crawler, and on a tight budget, so i spot this little monster, it really is a budget rig from Injora, i bought the roller minus wheels as i planned i would use the stock Hobao DC1 wheels i have spare, while i was at it i added spare front CVD axles as these can be a weak spot, though i strongly feel this is from using a powerful servo and over extending the CVD`s like on Hobao DC1, so a slight reduction on steering end points to hopefully prevent this. The wheels give a clearance of 76mm under the main gearbox plate. Not a lot of progress as it only arrived tonight, i also added a power HD 35kg MG servo and Alloy servo arm. I spotted a 3D printed ESC/RX box and got a friend to print it, so as he did it in white i placed red tape over and this is fitted under front hood panel. I have a spare Hobbywing crawler esc and Dumbo rc radio these will be used, waiting on a heavy duty servo mount to arrive again the stock plastic one flex's a lot. Shocks are sent dry so they will need strip, green slime and filling with oil, im thinking 2200mah 2s lipo to keep the weight down, thats it for now, thanks for looking Edited May 14, 2022 by Jack Reacher
Stormbringer
That looks good with the DC1 wheels/tyres on it

53HRA
Looks good! Is this the same as the Gmade R1 buggy?
voorsk
i nearly bought one of these today (bought an rgt trample instead), so I'm interested to see how things go. tomley called the rtr version a gmade r1 clone, but there seems to be a few differences, like extra mounts for the front suspension. more of a homage. 🙂 Edited February 21, 2022 by voorsk

Redback
The R1 shocks arnt amazing, they look good but i found perform horrible in droop and sprug setups, they also dont hold their juice. The Injora axels look better without portals also brings down the cog, that will help offset the high battery position.

There is no denying this is not a great crawler out of the box, its gonna need some love, some TLC, some mods but it can perform well and i intend to get it there
Popular Post Lone-wolf
Looks like i have done a lot but no such luck, cant really do much till servo mount arrives, i have added some stickers, stripped, greased and put oil in shocks, not a lot better, worked out i will mount ESC on under side of roof panel this gives a good cable run and makes switch nice and easy to get to, that is a 2200mah 2s just offered up to see how it fits
Popular Post Lone-wolf
Well its just about done, it runs, steers, so i fitted the metal servo mount and 35kg MG servo and alloy arm, installed the DumboRC radio, set up lipo mode with drag brake on esc, things left to do......... sort some better shocks fit lights when they arrive Tidy wiring a tad then pretty much run it..................... This has proved to be very much a true budget crawler and a nice change from the scale rigs, because i already had the wheels/tyres, radio and esc my total outlay is in the region of £122 this is the chassis with motor and axles servo, alloy arm, spare front CVD set servo mount and a light set.........im well happy with that

tomr
Decent first run mate 👍🏻 I was thinking about a set of these to widen the track a little https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000560737163.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7fff5ad1WCGI2j&algo_pvid=cf966d20-6276-40ee-8c60-cf5fca37412b&algo_exp_id=cf966d20-6276-40ee-8c60-cf5fca37412b-9&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"10000002938390880"}&pdp_pi=-1%3B1.64%3B-1%3B-1%40salePrice%3BGBP%3Bsearch-mainSearch

Next stage is to strip the gearbox and fully lube it as it sounds a bit dry/noisy, by then the new soft shocks should be here and that will transform how it rides, while i do the gearbox i might drop in the 55T motor have to say im happy with run time on the lipo, i did 35 minute run and still had 62% left in 2200mah 2s pack
Lone-wolf
Had the gearbox/transmission out and opened it up for greasing, nice to see ball bearings inside, pinion mesh is right, having to remove output drive shaft revealed these parts as expected are not great and maybe wont last long
