  1. James S's MT10! Gonna give it a clean while the body is drying off its newly applied reinforcement layer in the shed (once i get the glue off my fingers)
  2. Hi all I'm selling a brand new Arrma Granite 4x4 Mega 550 SLT3 RTR, in blue. The only thing that's been done to it is the battery's been charged (but not attached to the ESC) I bought it thinking I'd upgrade it to brushless later on, but patience is apparently not one of my virtues, and i bought a Big Rock while i waited for the battery to charge. 🫣 Apparently opening the box was a bad idea, as it invalidated my right to return it due to changing my mind, so here it is for sale. It comes with a humped NiMH battery, and just needs the usual 4xAA batteries for the remote. I've put it on eBay for £200 inc postage, so here I'll ask for £180 inc postage? edit: It's been on eBay for weeks (i didn't think anyone here would want brushed), with no-one taking an interest, but as soon as i listed it here, someone on eBay bought it! so, now sold.
  3. I've fitted all the original components to the 'SCX', so no upgraded ESC, servo, or wheels. Instead, it now comes with the original transmitter and NiMH battery, so it's 99% RTR. Still hoping for £110, inc postage..
  4. Epoxied the rear shock of my new Arrma Big Rock, which fell apart a whole 5 minutes into it's fairly gentle first run. Not impressed!
  5. Trample sold on ebay for £110. The FS Racing isn't on there (yet)
  6. Well, kinda.. apparently they're not going to be restocked in their vacuum formed guise. There is some 3d printed versions, but i might have a go at making some from a can of Guinness
  7. The top one is a Doorok; a 3D printed frame from Tiny4x4. https://www.tiny4x4.com/orlandoo-hunter/kits/doorok-132-rock-racer-kit/ It came with the usual plastic Orlandoo 4x4 parts, and snazzier wheels and tyres, but i broke a few bits and decided to buy metal parts instead. I've yet to construct a skid plate without hearing the dreaded snap. 😊
  8. I started making a build diary, but then forgot on one occasion, and it all fell apart. 🫠 I have been busy, tho. Got a bit addicted, but I'm over it now. 🙂 Voila:
  9. Hiya! I've come to the conclusion that I maaaaay have too many RC cars. Certainly too many rock crawlers. So, I'm selling two of them. The first one I'm selling is the first RC car I ever bought; an FS Racing 'Freeman', which is an Axial 10.2 clone. Clone is maybe a bit unfair, as FS Racing acquired the original tooling, so it's an actual 10.2, just built by a different manufacturer. https://www.nitrotek.co.uk/rc-cars/electric-cars/1-10-scale/fs-racing-1-10-scale-rc-rock-crawler-with-pc-body-shell.html http://www.fs-racingart.com/detail.php?pid=1938 Aaanyway, it's had a body upgrade to an Axial Chevrolet C10 body in super-tasteful white and metallic blue The lights work, too. They attach to the RX via a JST connector, so the shell can be completely removed. I've only used it a few times. Maybe 5 times, tops. Hence the decision to sell it, even though I really like how it turned out. I think it's probably worth about £110 inc postage (SOLD) The second (now sold) car is an RGT Trample, which is essentially a beefed up and upgraded RGT Rock Hammer / FTX Mauler : https://www.rgt-racing.com/cn_asp/productshow.asp?id=1183. The biggest change from the Mauler is the 'reverse drive', which just means the driveshafts rotate in opposite directions to try and alleviate torque twist. RGT claim it's 1/10 scale, but if it is, then it has the tiniest windows of any vehicle. oh, I bought it because of a video by that Tomley fella: It's also only been used a handful of times, and is completely original. I reckon it's probably worth about £110 including postage. (SOLD) Now, the photos: FS Racing Freeman(£110): RGT Trample (£110 SOLD😞
  10. So cool! Made me want one, but after hunting around I bought a Tiny4x4 Doorok instead, as i thought a crawler was more my style. It uses Orlandoo parts, but has a custom chassis: The parts are so tiny!
  11. How much is the MJX Mew 4 Buggy, if it's still available?
  12. i took the smasher out in the woods this evening. it handled itself pretty well, although it quite likes flipping onto it's roof, and the monster truck tyres don't have a lot of grip. i might have to invest in some extra weight, too. I need to work out how to video while driving. getting up those mossy rocks was a battle!
  13. The injora tyres are about 6mm less diameter, but almost half the width! It doesn't change the look as much as I thought it would. Diffs are now locked, and the shocks are oil filled. Feels like a downgrade going to plastic diffs, tho.
  14. sent a pm about the drag car, if it's still available. 🙂
  15. I've got a Smasher V2 incoming, plus I bought some normal sized wheels & tyres from injora, in case i felt like a change from monster trucking. was tempted by the other fcx24s, but the larger scale put me off.
  16. I just bought the kit version of the WPL C24-1, so I thought I'd resurrect this thread. 🙂 I bought it with the excuse that I needed a 1/16 crawler to accompany my son's WPL B36 (a chunky 6-wheeled army thing), and I do so hate mixing scales. I'm also slightly addicted to buying RC cars and then hardly ever driving them. 🙄 So, it's built, but I'd rather not dismantle it for photos, as all the screws are self-tapping into plastic, and I don't want to weaken the threads. The differences between this and the standard C24 above are the wheels and softer tyres (from a C44), and the grille and bumper (from a C14). There's no canopy for the back, but the bed has been painted black on the inside. It has a flip-up box behind the cab that reveals the space for the battery. That's the cheapo ESC you can see inside it, and there's enough space left for a 1000mah LiPo. The ESC was from a robot I built a few years ago, but it seems to be a popular choice for these cars. I'm not sure if something better would leave enough space for the battery - I think it'd be too chunky. Having pinched the ESC from a different project, it was missing almost all it's wires, so I had to solder them back on. I maaaay have made the RX wire a bit too long, so there's some spaghetti underneath. There's not much in the way of metal in this kit, but that was handy, as there were some places where I had to chop off some plastic. The supplied servo wouldn't fit without cutting off a rod of plastic, for example, and there were some pointless bits of plastic limiting the steering. I'm really not sure about the steering setup. It's at the whim of the suspension, with it turning if the suspension compresses. I had to modify the suspension, as the springs kept on being pushed over the rods, instead of pushing on them. I chopped the springs in half (may have been overkill), and put a hammer bead between the spring and the rod to make sure they couldn't bind together. As a result, it sits lower. Maybe a bit too low at the back, but I still have two unchopped springs and lots of hammer beads to make adjustments with. 🙂 The interior is really detailed, but may have been designed with amputees in mind, as there's no room for silly things like legs. So.. plans.. I have some! 😀 I've got a metal upgrade kit on it's way from WPL, and a rear canopy. I'm not sure if I'll use the canopy or not, but it's nice to have the option. It would easily hide a bigger ESC and battery, which would be nice. I also ordered some MN90 tyres, as apparently they're very good for doing a wide-wheel mod, and a metal geared servo. I'm not sure you can tell from the photos, but one of the wheels was damaged, and is barely holding the tyre on. The good thing about these C24s is that they're very popular, and lots of people have created their own mods, so there are a few 3D printable wheel options to choose from. Before all that, I'm going to paint it! No idea what colour.. just not white. I might take more photos while it's apart.
  17. I swear RGT made a last minute change to the servo configuration of the Trample, without checking to see if it actually fitted. Or maybe mine was built on a Friday. I've had to cut out a chunk of the bumper so that it doesn't hit the servo horn under mild suspension travel, and today I shortened the connection to the steering rod wotsit, because it was scraping along the diff cover. Poor servo!
  18. it's Tramplin' time! looking forward to taking this thing out! 🙂
  19. According to the manual I've got (HBX 16889): During charging, the red LED is on solid The red LED will go off after the battery is charged (after about 3.5 hours) The red LED will flash if there's a battery issue It doesn't say what the LED does if it's plugged in with no battery connected There is an additional note for an updated charger, which does mention the green LED; Red LED is solid as long as the charger is plugged in (even if the battery isn't connected) During charging, the red LED stays solid, and the green LED flashes slowly Both LEDs become solid on after the battery is charged If the red LED flashes quickly, there's a battery issue Could it be that you have the older version of the charger that doesn't have a green LED?
  20. I was all prepared to apply some conformal coating, but it turns out that it's already got lashings of the stuff! That's looking pretty waterproof to me. Kinda looks like the servo's sealed, too. 😀 I'm not sure how I managed to bend that servo pin. 😮
  21. It's arrived! 13 days isn't bad going. 🙂 I'd give it a test drive, but it's getting dark and it's raining.. How water resistant are these things? 🙄
  22. I'd also recommend a Mauler, unless you feel brave enough to run the gauntlet of HM Customs. I have a feeling I'm going to regret that choice. 😬
  23. oh lordy, can someone please stop me buying RC cars, please? I think my wife is going to kill me when 3 (THREE) different cars arrive from China in a few weeks. 😨 I started out innocently enough, looking for basher mods for a WLToys 144001, but I kept finding people saying the HBX 16889 was best at that sort of thing, and that the Pro version was even better. I tried to fight the urge.. I tried to convince myself that the 144001 was enough.. I've already bought two rock crawlers that're in the post - they'll be enough! For rocks. One of those 3 cars is an HBX 16889A Pro. 😀
