stupar
So here is progress report no.1. Bags 1 to 4 covering chassis and gearbox. It was a nice smooth start although a couple of observations, either the manual references some wrong screws or the bag contained the wrong screws and the manual is correct. Nothing that couldn't be sorted though. Also managed to faux pa's at the first hurdle by not attaching the panhard mount to the chassis. I will chalk that down to my last 3 builds being 4 link instead. Easy to fix just a faff when you have to undo a complete set of screws on one side of the chassis 😖🥴 Next stop will be axles although I might skip to the shocks first as I always seem to enjoy shock building 😅

Popular Post stupar
Well that was a great chassis kit to build. The factory team shocks are buttery smooth, axles go together really well and appear extremely robust. The presence of a full metal bearing setup as part of the kit makes a huge difference too. Servo should arrive tomorrow then over the holidays i will give some thought to wheels, tyres, and motor/ESC combo.

Popular Post stupar
A little bit more work done on the Element RC builders Kit V2. Tonight's efforts involved fitting the Konect fusion 1800KV motor/ESC combo (18T pinion to be fitted when it arrives) and then doing some impromptu cable tidying (I hate cables all over the place). Finally I fitted my go to scale drive shafts from Lesu (wouldn't be me if I didn't use Lesu driveshafts on my builds ha ha) Edited January 6, 2022 by stupar
lorrylemming
Is the Konect system different to the hobbywing fusion? I always assume these things are just rebrands but it looks quite different.

Popular Post stupar
Some more progress on my builders kit tonight. 1.55 deep dish wagon wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tyres and finished off with scale lug nuts. Some SSD scale locking hubs are on route to finish the look. Edited January 14, 2022 by stupar

Popular Post stupar
Finally I have a body to place on my Element chassis thanks to a chance find at Greens Models. Looking good already, just need my 80mm shocks to arrive from Junfac so I get the ride height and body lift set. Will start prepping the body at the weekend for paint as ther are some mold parts that need filled in and sanded. Happy with the general stance so far though.
BigGinge
Looking good. How is the quality on the hard body you picked up? It looks the same as one I’d been eyeing up, on AliExpress, so I’m curious to see how you get on with it.

The hard body is actually really good quality as are the accessory parts supplied to finish it. Some body lines are missing but nothing that couldn't be replicated with some fine trim tape. The only thing to note is the plastic has a very very fine orange peel effect to it, barely noticeable but to me it means the body will probably need a light rub with wet and dry before primer and paint I reckon.
BigGinge
Thanks for that, will look forward to seeing what you do with yours and how it looks when it’s painted up. Looks like these are, unfortunately, out of stock at greens now. So if I do go for one soon (it is my birthday next month) I’d probably still have to order direct from China. If it’s not to rude to ask would you mind saying what greens were Charing for these when they had some in for sale? Just in case being patient and waiting for these to come back in stock is looking like the sensible option.

I must have got the last one and it was a fluke find as Team Raffee call it the 79 Ford Ranger XLT but Greens named it as "R Gen 2" which skewed Google searches. Greens were charging £99 for the body. Asiatees.com are selling the body for $102 delivered via Fedex so not dissimilar in price but obviously import charges are possible for the latter.
