Bert_w164
Hi, Speed running can be really expensive, especially when you get it wrong (I've made my fair share of mistakes, it happens). It seems the speed running stuff is pretty popular at the moment, especially with the drag vehicles now coming out too. To help enable people to make informed decisions, would you be kind enough to share the costs of your set up with top speed achieved? The data set will hopefully give those entering the field an idea of what to expect. To keep things tidy, could we try and provide data in the following format: Username: @everclear1984 RC Model: Maverick Strada Roller Specs: OPTIONAL some may not want to share the specs of their setups as they're doing this competitively, which is totally cool. Total costs: £264* Top Speed: (as of 03/06/2021): 101mph * I took out the cost of the SkyRC tool and that's because regardless of the tool, everclear1984 would have achieved the same result. Data set used for the example above: 1 hour ago, everclear1984 said: Ok, so here's what I actually paid for the final setup. I bought other motors, batteries and esc's along the way but I won't include those. Maverick Strada roller *used - £47 Hobbywing 8BL150 - £70 HPI 4000kv motor (bought used years ago so guessing here) - ~£30 Turnigy Rapid 4s lipo - £62 Skyrc GSM-015 speed meter - ~£50 Go faster gearing - £10 Protoform body - £27 Contact foams - £18 I think that's everything. Scary how fast it adds up! - Edited June 3, 2021 by Bert_w164
Lone-wolf
I will give this a try, based on the Hobao GT 1/8th Car was bought new roller £200 8BL150 ESC £75 Rcaerstar 4068 2050kv £30 GRP s7 wheels/tyres i think were £25 used I already have some 4s lipo`s but i did buy a pair of 3s to make a 6s set up, i may use them in a plane so not counting, also there was an additional cost of £40 for a replacement shell after the original got damaged in a hit and run by a silly 4x4 driver, plus a new set of stock wheels as the originals also got damaged and the Speed -flea gps nearly forgot i also bought a Dumbo-RC x6 as this car really needed a long range radio set, i best not total all this up seeing as i have only had a couple of runs out of this and wont be running it again
Redback
Here's "Typoon's" breakdown.Username: @Redback RC Model: FTX Banzai RTR Specs: See below, mods needed to get this car over 100 are in my build thread. Total costs: £383* Top Speed: (as of 14/08/2021): 108mph Specs: FTX Banzai RTR Drift Car - £119 Hobbywing XR8-SCT ESC Combo With 3660 Motor - £160 Turnigy 5.0 4s 60-120c - £50 (2nd hand) Body - £24 Contact Tires - £16£ Steel pinon and Spur - £14 TopSpeed MPH - 108+ The biggest cost will be running costs, new tires and the vast selection of pinions / spurs needed to tweak the cars to the bleeding edge. Ive easly spent 100£ in pinions/spurs at 7£ a pop they are not cheap.
