A bearing in the front drive train knackered somewhere?

That was my first though as I had the same thing with my Savage. Turned out to be a knackered bearing on the diff but these all feel perfectly smooth.

Defo sounds like th front diff tbh if you turn one front wheel and hold the other any clicking sounds ever?

I think I've narrowed it down, but I've still no idea why it's happening. It's coming from the rear diff. Like I said, I opened it up and checked bearings, gears and shims and everything looks to be spot on, no wear whatsoever.

When it happened on the Savage it turned out to be a blown bearing allowing the diff to shift and lose its mesh, but I'm 99% sure that's not the case this time.

Guess I'll be opening it up again for another inspection.

I've never had to shim Hyper diffs.  If diff internals  look good and you can easily rotate the cups by hand with no crunching and in/out play then sounds like mesh between diff crown gear and  diff pinion gear.  Have a careful look at their teeth with both out car on table, The drive cup needs a little play when secured to the diff pinion gear. Make sure the centre shafts have front/back play in the cups.

bearings in drive cups ?

That was my first thought as it's what happened to the Savage. I didn't notice any play in them while I had it apart but will definitely be checking them first when I take it apart again.
