ARRMA Kraton EXB - Extreme Bash Roller Speed Truck

Fly In My Soup

Recommended Posts

Nope.

What Arrma cloned is the model of pretty much all other well known companies like Associated, where you can get upgrade parts that don't come with their RTRs (Enduro Sendero hard plastic replacement parts to take out the flex etc). Same for Traxxas, same for Losi, same for pretty much all of them where you can get "upgraded parts" for existing models.

Didn't see people lose their crap over that either, but it's getting tiresome to point out hypocrisy constantly.

I'm not sure anymore if you realise that it doesn't come off as a joke if you paraphrase something that  somebody else is legit complaining about (on the same page even, and multiple times in the thread). Like, wtf.

Noticed RC Dude81 and Duperbash were both using Hobbystar 4092's in there videos, it's just Eric was running the 1480kv and Rich the 1730kv.

What do we reckon use the lower kv and gear up and hope for cooler running if  going down this route?

Where is the best place to purchase these motors when living in the UK?

I really can't justify the Castle 1717 1650kv price tag, to rich for me. Not when you can get a Max6 and motor for the same price.

Only found them in the US, was interested too.

Ebay has them too, but coming from the US.

Looking at the individual parts list on Arrmas website they have 7075  T6 EXB chassis, towers and braces for the entire 6s line of vehicles. So I'm guessing they will eventually release EXB rollers for all of them.

As those prices I could buy 3 of them for the price of a Hobbywing 4985.👍

While true, i'm a bit concerned in regards to not finding either one of the Hobbystars. They ran a 1730 and a 1480. Rocket doesn't offer either, so i'm a bit hesitant there.

Absolutely not against "cheap and nasty", and if i could get my hands on the Hobbystars i'd probably get that one - but with this one i'm a bit.. hesitant, now.

edit:

This is also not that confidence inspiring.

https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/hobbystar-4092.5336/

I have the 1480kv and running a 17t pinion with 6s. It wants to fling the rubber off the wheels. It has the hobbywing motor cooler and still gets to 185 degrees by the end of the battery if I am hammering it. So it is not slow running 6s.

So serious question, Anyone that's looking at spending that sort of money on a motor, What dose that exactly get you, What dose a 200 quid motor give you over a 50 quid motor, I think there is a certain price point with these things were it just get's a bit out of hand, And the any old justification waffle starts to come out.

Well first and foremost, a sensored motor/system that runs cooler than other motors (with the predecessor well loved too).

Second, bling.

Third: why is there even a need for someone to explain? I've got a £110 brushed motor in my Trail King because i wanted it. There's no need for "justification waffle", because there's no need to justify it to anyone other but me, if you know what i mean. ;)

Efficiency, if you're burning 1000 Watts of power, how much of that actually gets to the wheels? The higher end motors should be nudging 90% efficiency, but the cheaper offerings might struggle to reach 80%.

Even with the high end kit, there are losses, 100 Watts is quite a chunk, imagine an old fashioned 100 Watt bulb, now imagine that in the palm of your hand, toasty!

Then there's better bearings, soldering, magnets, even the glues used should be of higher quality.

Not everything needs to be throw away quality, I like certain things to be top notch.

Each to their own.

Yeah, what he said.

edit: of course want to point out that a system of this kind doesn't pull 1000 watts, but more in the neighbourhood of 5000 watts (on full tab). 10% is a huge difference in that case.

Oh, I get it, Earns your money and all that, I get the bling, (But the Castle don't really look all that much, If your honest)The efficiency, In a basher, Sorry, Don't buy it.

If you need to get every drop of power you can out of that corner, Or your loosing a 10th every lap to the competition cos the cars your racing with have an extra 10% efficiency, OK, Fill your boots, But driving on a bit of wast ground, BMX track.

Bearings and glue, Really, Even your 50 quid jobbies are pretty dam reliable these days, And if it dose go bang, You still have a 150 quid saving to buy another.

As you say, Each to there own, We're all entitled to our opinions, But if someone tells me this is worth the extra 150 quid cos it runs a little bit cooler, Runs a couple MPH quicker,  Will go a minute or two longer, And might be more reliable, I'll say, Keep that lot and give me a couple more pack.

Efficiency isn't just how much power it makes, but how much power gets wasted as heat. That's the point, and that's important in a basher - especially considering how hot some Kratons get.

It doesn't run "a little cooler", it runs massively cooler than a 4985 for example, which in itself isn't what i'd consider a cheap motor.

Not to mention, purely out of interest - what £50 sensored jobbie are we talking about here? Just want to look into it in case i need one.

i have 2 surpass rockets. i have the 4082 1550kv in the mt410 and the 4092 1650kv in the hyper st. the 4092 broke and i am waiting for the replacement. the back end cap came off because the screws came loose when it was flat out which damaged the rotor. i asked about getting a new rotor and they said i would have to buy 2, so it was a bit cheaper just to buy a whole new motor. They run really well for me.

I also have the standard surpass 4076 in both 2000 and 1700kv. Those are not as nice as the rocket series, but they also worked really well. I run the 2000kv in my xray and the 1700kv is a spare since i replaced ti with the 4092 1650kv.

I know were your going with that.

It all seems to have all got a bit out of control, Once upon a time a cheap black can or £40 pound 2000Kv Leopard or Hobbywing motor, Mated to a 6s 120Amp XERun or Castle monster was all you needed to push that great lump of a Savage conversion, Or Muggy conversion, Even an  Cen GSt7 with a 2200KV and 80amp esc was knocking around at one point, Now it's all motors the size of Fosters cans and ESC powerful enough the push the Queen Elizabeth Air Craft Carrier along just to move your standard everyday 1/8 Truggy, Anything less just doesn't cut it these days.

This will run it for £60, J.K has one in the For Sale section for £32, So save a good few quid                                      Or This. About £62, Ok, There not big enough to take the end bell off and use as a water butt, But they'll push along a little Truggy with not much trouble.
