Arrma Outcast 4s - Are Soft case Batteries OK?

AndyBell

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Looking at running my car on a 3s pack for when my daughter has a go and so it's a little less ballistic sometimes.

Question is, Arrma say hard case batteries should be used but would I be ok with a soft case one?

Thanks, Andy.

I can imagine it is but I think 3s is the lowest I can go, I've swapped the radio gear out so no longer have the 50/75/100 throttle option.

Thanks both for the replies. Sick of waiting for banggood now so just gonna grab one from the UK.

HobbyKing don't appear to have anything with an EC5 connector on.......

I'm not too far from modelsport though so may take a trip out tomorrow morning....

Pt your own connector on, no biggie, they aren't too expensive.

Definitely don't lack in the quality department of a LiPo for the sake of putting a connector on.

Modelsport will be accessible, but will cost a lot more.

You times the C rating by the mAh to give you your amps (essentially)
So a 50C 5000 would be 50c x 5.0mAh = 250amps.
Your ESC is probably 120amps.
So 50C is more than enough.
As long as your battery is providing more than your ESC needs, that's fine.
(I think you mean 50c X 5Ah)

No I didn't.

If it was a 2800 LiPo, it wouldn't be 50c x 2, it would be 50c x 2.8.

You said 50 x 5.0mAh = 250A

thats wrong, I figured it was a typo.

 50 x 5.0mAh = 250mA

5000mAh = 5Ah

You're not understanding.

That is the amps the LiPo puts out, or the equivalent.

So it equals 250AMPS.

As I said, my first post didn't have a mistake, it's the easiest way to explain it and work it out when buying a battery for someone who isn't that long into the hobby.

You put "5.0mah", as opposed to "5.0ah", easily done. 😉

Potato/Potahto.

No it isnt... it's two totally different amounts which make the difference between wrong information and right information. Like I said, I thought it was a typo, as it is an easy mistake to make.

Not going to make any difference whatsoever to this chap though, he will still know what he's looking for.

As I just said, have you ever bought a 50,000mah LiPo?

I doubt it ;)
