Fly In My Soup
HOBAO TEASES NEW OFF-ROAD TRUCK HoBao was a big name during the nitro revolution that occurred in our hobby about a decade ago. In recent years, HoBao is perhaps best known for their DC-1 scale rock crawler. However, Hobao is now teasing a new Off-Road Truck that definitely has some scale look to it. The latest teaser from HoBao shows off what looks to be a monster truck with scale accents, but we’ll have to wait a few days to find out exactly what lies behind the teaser image Sauce - BigSquidRC View full news article

mydoddy69
Loved my MTe but parts support fell off a cliff for it, if they want to make a success of a new offering then they need to sort there parts support better. Plus there distribution got do with a tweak. Be interested to see what they got coming though ?

(internal power struggle to you and me?) Think it ended it an internal buy out.... They put out a press release earlier this year about it all stating they where coming back fighting.... Watch this space I guess?
.AJ.
Looking at the shape of the lower edge of the TVP’s I reckon it’s a updated MTe ?
Jumper
If its an updated Hyper MT that could be great. Could even be a 1/10th version? Edited May 20, 2019 by Jumper

Hope not to be honest, if that’s all it is then I won’t be bothering with it. Been there done that and got left hanging when parts support got dropped off a cliff 🙁

I t does make sense for them to release a new version because since the plus model there has been a new erevo 2.0, new models from arrma and also team magic have just announced a new version of the E6 which isnt really a competitor here, but in asia and in the usa as a redcat it is. I think at the worst it could just be a new shell and wheels/ tyres. Edited May 25, 2019 by Jumper

No, what makes sense is for them to sort out and give better support to there current line up before releasing more products with crap parts support. You can can release a new model every day but without support it will fall on its arse and sadly that’s where Hobao are heading unless they can get on top of things.

Yeah but nobody buys them here compare to the competition and improving part support doesn't make anywhere near as much profit as a "new" truck. They probably make a few £ per part they sell Vs £100 per truck they sell. The part support in regions where they sell well like Asia would not benefit as much from better part support. It's more of a local issue when they are selling them globally.

True but your only make a £100 per truck if you can sell one again without good part support that becomes hard so it’s a vicious circle 👍

I dont think people aren't buying them because the part support is bad, i think people dont buy them because the advertising and online marketing isn't as strong as the competition in western countries. I think if they had released the original version when they were more dominant when the hyper 7 was the go to bashing buggy, then it might have done better. RCbutcher
I'm going with the bare minimum too after it says above. Internal issues buy outs etc. They need cash so here we are. I'm shocked they say the scaler is what they're known for now. I thought the hyper RTR would always be their most sold rc. They should just virtual build rcs afew of them and release the virtual models and get votes on which one should be produced which scale etc. But a condition would be a deposit so they know fans are waiting and not just looking lol. That way we could get rcs the hobby wants not what they think. But theyd have to do the maths good and be upfront about costs so buyers can decide if they are in or out without paying the deposit first. Be kinda like how crowd funding works. They get to build what the hobby wants and a cash injection to the process. They project £500rrp so take half as a deposit non refundable unless it's their fault. Or deadlines are missed and people pull out. I love rcs that can transform into new rcs. Like traxxas slash just convert to whatever you want. One for all. My slash works just incredible as MT its insane and durable. I hope my new build will live up to it. I'm right at the end now.

.AJ.
1/7 scale? Is it a extended 1/8 or a true Xmaxx competitor? Probably the first one......
Kukynas
One tyre is bigger then the rest, poor quality control from the start 😂 we need details of the internals, please please, stronger chassis for once 😅

Seems to me like theyve taken an MTe and stretched the TVPs and hopefully theyve widened the axles. If its X Maxx sized, I cant imagine what electrics theyve used. Id hope for 8s?
