What we think it is and what they are calling it, are two different things.

I'm calling it what they are calling it.

Although either way I think it looks horrible myself.

I know what you mean. It is basically a widened SCT410.3

What looks horrible the shell you get to choose or the actual platform layout ?

The actual platform just isn't my own cup of tea :) very much personal taste though.

You'd think such an expensive truck, they'd use a nicer shell as well, considering Tekno will have access no doubt to anything they want lol, at least make it look nice on the outside.

But again... Just personal taste really.

This comes without a shell so it's immaterial what it looks like on the outside as the owner will make it look how they want !

Unless you have had the pleasure to blast one of these little swb truggy or widen buggies which ever you perfer around there's really nothing else quite like them to go on. Honestly don't knock it till you try as I think most guys will be pleasantly surprised I know I was and now I'm a little hooked on them

Very unlikely I'll ever buy one... As I did say, it's personal preference, my point about looks was, they COULD have made it look much much more appealing than they did.

Box art seems to be somewhat of a dying thing and I think it's silly because it just looks like companies aren't trying hard enough.

I want to buy an RC where I look at the box and think 'yeah, that looks good, I'd like to use and abuse that' and not 'well, this is how much I need to spend to change it to something I'd even be seen working on..'

Im not looking at what's in the box thinking I've got to spend to change anything as all that's included looks and sounds great and I look at it as I can't wait to get the project off the ground choose a shell pick the boots selected the electrics i want and go tear up and abuse it ! I get what your saying but surely that only applies to a rtr it's only your imagination that's stopping you seeing past its advertised look to what it can or could be ?

I see a tough as boots basher with the opportunity to choose how it looks right out the gate the layout is well proven the parts used are well proven, maybe it's just a marmite thing but I like it mind you I like marmite ;)

It's a great chassis so why change something that works? You don't like the shell, good thing it doesn't come with one and to be honest how long do rtr shells last anyway.

People expect to see a whole new chassis every time a new model is bought out, this isn't possible. The cost would be extremely high due to the amount of hours it takes to do such a thing. If you want a proper MT then what @.AJ. is building would be great, it's a proper monster truck but a lot of people might not want to under take a project like that.

Personally I don't care if it's not like it's real world counter part as long as it looks good, a blast to play with and built well then that's all I care about.

What other SWB monster trucks have you tried? In my experience, lengthening and widening a MT makes everything better/

It was a joke fella.

I didn't say it needed money spent?! I said I don't like to look at an RC that COULD be made to look really good, but just has had no effort put into it with the ugliest shell I've seen in recent times and think it would need money spent on it to be made to look nice.

It just isn't for me, I don't see any point in commenting anymore about it?

I don't like it, you do, that's the end of it :good:

So far I have the mt4 swb I made, a mate of mine has a swb rc8 that's a huge blast another friend has a d8t running the vorza chassis and I have had a quick blast of a Kraton shrunk to a Typhon, which I was going to replicate but went the mt4 route instead so a fair few I have messed about with but not all mine ;)

You should try one fella I think you be pleasantly surprised

Read the whole comment.. That WASN'T about this RC, that was about stuff in general, based on how much (or little in this case) effort the manufacturer appears to put in to make there product look the best

I was talking about this car so took your comment about this car, maybe I read it wrong but maybe you didn't quite make it clear as I didn't read anything about in general in your comment other than the word companies which was after the comment about its looks in the form of they COULD meaning or atleast i took  it as Tekno

Either way it's done and dusted now, this isn't for you and that's cool ;)

As a Tekno fan, i'm still on the fence with this, yes i know this'll handle like a dream and take a pounding - but so does the ET48 which isn't too much more, and you get a really good looking shell included too.

Does seem an odd thing for Tekno to come out with though. They'd mentioned a few months back something new was coming and most of the speculation was that a 1/10 2wd buggy/stadium/sct was next.

Guess we were wrong lol

Its classed as a 1/10th so let's look at the 1/10th scale, do you know any that run 17mm hex and 3.8 boots without modification ?  Then there's the chassis I've never heard of anyone using s 4mm 7075 chassis on a 1/10th scale before even the Losi 3.0 only uses a 3mm then there the towers again 4mm 7075, the list just goes on and on..

I thought long and hard about getting a Losi 3.0 to make into a basher monster and was set to get one then this popped up okay it's £90 more than the Losi and don't have a shell and boots but if I wanted to convert the Losi then I'd have to sell the shell that came with and still buy boots and electrics .

I think this has its place in the rc world for sure but it's geared more to those that want the ultimate rather than the run of the mill or a highly upgraded bit of kit that will probably run you up more than this ? Take a slash for exsample imagine just how much that would run you up to come anywhere near this ?

Honestly i think this is 1/8th scale and it's aimed at the new swb fascination that seems to be bitting and if it is it certainly out shines its only real competitor so far the Arrma Outcast of which I'll soon find out for sure.

Just my 2 cents on it

Its not really a surprise this is their next release - it shares a lot with the rest of the range. Making a 1/10th 2wd (a market that is already populated with many high end models as is) would involve designing pretty much everything from scratch. Not to say they won't make one, but that will take time whereas this is a quick response to a growing market.

This (and the Outcast) are being referred to as 1/10th only because they are smaller than trucks typically labelled as 1/8th. There is nothing 1/10th about them in build terms (electrics, chassis thickness etc), they are short 1/8ths.

As for short vs long wheelbase - It has always depended on what you want. The short platform is less stable in the air which is why traditionally people have gone longer. However couple that instability with a powerful motor and huge wheels and you have something where you can easily control the truck in flight. That means that these shorter trucks are best if you want to do flips and tricks, but longer trucks are better for pure distance - provided you want to land on your wheels!

Guess when you say Losi 3.0 you mean the SCTE? Not really a fair comparison though, the Tekno is based off a 1/8 and the SCTE is based off the old Ten (1/10th). I would think the this would be more inline with a 8ight 4.0

Yeah we can base it off the 4.0 if you want price of a 4.0 is what £380 ? This is £390 one has a shell and wheels the other dosen't but ones wider than the other so we can counter balance the cost ? So even based on the 4.0 I still think it offers value for what's on the table .

I used the 3.0 as it is 1/10th scale and Tekno class this as 1/10th scale although I do agree it's more in line with a 1/8th scale ..
