DBXL running problem!

Recommended Posts

I have got hold of a Losi DBXL in great condition. There is one problem however and that is, when I hold the throttle the vehicle moves around 5 inches then stops (revs but doesn't shift). The engine stays on and it idles perfectly. The diffs and gears all engage and the radio (Futaba 3PL) is blinded correctly.

ive narrowed it down to the clutch although this seems to be ok when I rev it? When the car is off the floor it is still very slow and does the same. No joy adjusting the needles either.

Any ideas please? ;)

Also can you roll the car freely backwards and forwards without anything binding/jamming?

Yeah moves freely with no issues!

Sounds like the clutch is gone.

When it is off the ground there is no weight on the wheels so what is left of the clutch is engaging enough to make the wheels move all be it very slowly.

When it is on it's wheels on the ground what is left of the clutch isn't enough to provide any positive drive.

Don't sound like clutch issue tbh,

what is oil/fuel ratio using?

Choke is off?

Drop in a new spark plug as current could be bad.

Hopefully needles haven't snapped in carb...

Quick checks I'll do

1. check air filter element isn't soaked as that will hamper pick up.

2. Check ignition coil air gap (too large a gap no thottle response/pickup)

3. Reset needles

Low 1 and 1/4 turns open
High 1 and 3/8 turns open

fire up an see if improved :rc_car:
