Ford Mondeo BTCC Body (200mm) 7456

Hi everyone.

I am new to the fourms. I have owned nitro models for the last 10 years and used them on and off.

Currenlty I am in the process of fixing a HPI RS4 2 as a gift to my brother. Mechanically it has now been sorted but I am now looking to put the finishing touches with a new body shell. I am looking for a HPI Ford Mondeo BTCC 200mm body but to be honest I am struggling. It appears that this shell has been discontinued for quite a while now. The only one I can find is being sold by HPI Japan on Amazon and they want £120.00 (seriously, google it).

I saw the shell on HeathsRCModels, bought it using paypal but was promptly refunded and told it was not in stock.

Does anyone have any idea where i can obtain this shell. I appreciate this is a bit of a long shot but any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it is untainable are there any other British Touring Car bodyshells available from the super tourer era?

Cheers

Andy

Good news is I have found a HPI mondeo btcc on ebay by a german seller. Bad news is it is a 190mm body. In think this is the same issue for the other vintage Tamiya bodies i.e. the Opel .

Anyone tried putting a 190mm body on a 200mm chassis? I assume it will be a disaster, I am imaging tyres rubbing against the body.

I really want to build an old Ford too, after finding out the landmax 1/8 escort cosworth fits the slash I wanted one. But today found another of them at £90 before import duty from usa.

I could slap kyosho tbh what an amazing range of 1/8 rally bodies that look good and they stop producing them lol.

Just a sticker sheet for one shell is up for £70+. Delta plastic bodies look crap. 1/8 on road needs a saviour. I was winning to go to £60 tops knowing it will be rare but not over 100.

So I might get the mk2 escort rally legends.

Retro racing has an offer on 2 old escort bodies for £49 if anyone is up for it 25 each. But ide like the mk2 hopfully it's buyers choice, not set offer as one mk1 and one mk2.

As far as I know there was never a 200mm mondeo body made, I had 2 190mm mondeo`s and raced them to oblivion, Hmm hindsight..... Wish I kept one:crying:

I had one of those Rapid Fit HPI bodies - 190 mm. Might be an old catalogue somewhere which can indicate if there was a 200 mm, but likewise, I think it was 190 mm.

200 - 190 mm would probably need to change arms and driveshafts.

Love the BTCC bodies, I found I very rare Kyosho Laguna BTCC body and took a whole day to paint, decal and detail the body and fitted it to my Tamiya FF03 chassis for display. I love hiow the Kyosho body is very scale like, unlike other like Parma etc. :(

Here is my Laguna 1997 BTCC, on my Tamiya FF03 .
