Popular Post pieman5 Posted October 30, 2015 Popular Post Share Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) Thought after my recent sucess with this id do a bit of a thread.Not going to include loads of progress pics, but i will fully share the setup to help give others some ideas First off, upgrades list:RPM slash rear armsRPM jato front armsRPM oversize front hubsRPM rear upper linksRPM front bumper (mounted upside down)Tekno slash CVD's (to match the rear arms) and 17mm adaptersProline 17mm adapters up front.Hotracing aluminium gearbox case + motor plate (gears and diff remain completely standard and i run no oil)GPM aluminium rear shock tower (need the strength to handle the extra weight and stop the wing moving so much)GRP "supersoft" wheels and tyres.Next up, the electrics:EZrun 150a pro esc (running lowest timing possible, punch and LVC disabled, 10% drag brake and 50% max brake)2x 4500mah 65-130C 3S A-spec nanotech in seriesSirius 1515 2200kv Alturn AAS750MGFlysky GT3B (with 35% dual rate and ABS turned on)Other info:Servo moved forward and front chassis plate modified to keep the batteries low down and central (and to fit under the shell)Rear wing with back fin removed26/36 gearingFront shock tower butchered up to lower the front shocks as much as possibleAt the event i ran a custom (bodged ) shell i made myself but its now running a standard bandit shell (with a few holes cut for clearancesNow for the pics As it stood when i ran it as ROSSA this yearAnd as it stands now And Lastly bez got a video of one of the 105mph runs (it did 2) where right at the end, a small retaining pin came out causing the rear wheel to fly off and drag the motor about 100 yards along the ground lol Edited October 30, 2015 by pieman5 4 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

pieman5 Posted October 31, 2015 Author Share Posted October 31, 2015 Im pretty much keeping it as it is for next year.I felt like it had more speed in it with the current setup so i will see what i can get first then start changing things.The main problem was not being able to accelerate fast enough due to a lack of weight at the front and running out of runup too quickly.So i will try and add weight (probably by replacing the plastic wedge at the front with a brass slab) and using a longer runup starting on the proper drag strip. sean-vrs Posted October 31, 2015 Share Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) If you were to run a little gps unit on the car wouldn't that give you a guide to your actual terminal end speed so you could gauge your run up better to the speed traps? pieman5 Posted October 31, 2015 Author Share Posted October 31, 2015 It probably would help but at the moment i struggle to reach full throttle quickly enough on the run.my runup looking at google maps is around 300 yards and im at full throttle with less than 75 yards to go to the traps.I could keep on the throttle after the traps and use a gps, but the problem is the surface gets REALLY rough pretty quickly after the traps so i need to start slowing down.The only option is to move the runup further back onto the actual drag strip (which is extremely slippy) and use it to gain some low end speed to get on throttle quicker Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
pieman5 Posted March 17, 2016 Author Share Posted March 17, 2016 (edited) Quick update on this. Ran 98.7mph today. Not quite the 105 its done before but i was mainly checking handling issues. The car is much more stable now and with the added weight to the front i can get on the power better. Also tried some of the new Velocity wheels from GRP. They were EXTREMELY good. Id recommend everyone to get some Next step is to have a fiddle with the esc settings, and i also want to try a 2650kv motor and see how it changes things. Tony got your car (cant remember what it is) to 102.68mph It was superbly stable and went very straight, think you will be pleased with it. Sounds like I've a good platform to build from then... Just need the Baja to get to that number too now! Thanks for the insight, I am hopefully going to ensure that mine is balanced and the aero means I don't have to steer at higher speeds, will be reducing down the rate on my transmitter when having a go at higher speeds. Popular Post pieman5 Posted January 28, 2017 Author Popular Post Share Posted January 28, 2017 Small update on this ready for this years events I decided to change the esc and motor to try and get some more power out of the thing. So i am now running a 2200kv XL Tenshock and a Trackstar 200a 8s esc. Im still running the car on 6s but hopefully the new esc wont limit the cars potential as much.
