johninderby
What's the dumbest thing you've seen another driver do? Case in point. Returning home from Morrisions this morning saw driver enter the opposite side of a fairly big roundabout the same time as me. Thought no problem, I'm going straight on. However didn't expect the other driver to drive through the centre of the roundabout and try and turn across the front of me. He seemed very annoyed that I was in his way. Fortunately I was able to avoid him and continue on my way. Got the impression he didn't even realise he was doing anything wrong. 53HRA
I witnessed a red Audi pull out from a parked space with no indicator or use of mirrors and caused another car to emergency swerve into another lane and the side of his car rubbed all the kerb.Almost made him mount it infact. The driver who had to swerve then went totally mentally, speeded up and got infront of the other car to block him.Very surprised he did not get out considering the way he blocked him i was expecting it to turn into a murder scene
Noj
Each time I leave the drive, idiots abound on every route out of here, undertaking, pulling out with no room, illegal u turns, cars blocking two lanes of traffic to push in, parking on double yellow lines, random pedestrians throwing themselves across the road, pulling out on roundabouts, tail gating, drivers pulling up next to their mate to have a chat, whilst blocking the road, idiots reaching speeds of 60mph plus along our road.... T'other night, two girls ditched their Micra with wheel hanging off in the middle of the road, next to a blind bend. They locked and alarmed it of course! Police called, turned out car was completely unregistered, subsequently towed and crushed! My fear is that some (likely as not uninsured) tool will hit me hard enough to write the car off...which will displease me greatly! This is one of main reasons for moving, as the number of idiotic drivers grows by the week. Notably, 80% belong to the Asian community (inc the abandoners of the Micra)...
oodboo
I saw someone indicating to pull off the dual carriageway and duly pull off only to realise it was a rest area rather than the slip road. I saw what was happening and held back so he could get back on safely.
Smoothybb
Usual thing round here is idiots at islands. Left lane approaching? Yes, that is the lane you should be in to go all the way round the island. Right lane, yes sir, correct lane to take the 1st exit. And why do people put on their left indicator 2 exits before the one they intend to take. Well, I'll bang it on now cos I intend to get off this island at some point or other. mini-z-awd
the roundabout one is good. there is one near were i live which clearly has big arrows showing the way your supposed to go left to go left or straight ahead and right for going up the hill and the amount of times i`ve had someone try and go straight ahead when in the right lane is beyond a joke i actaully had some guy in a transit try and go straight ahead when he was indicating to go up the hill on the right so i just kept going and he had the cheek to beep his horn at me when i had the right of way if he wanted a fight then he would have been on the deck not long after getting out of his van
TiM!
A woman overtaking a bus here in a VW polo. Normally this is quite safe. There was nothing coming the other way and conditions were good. However, this polo was a 2013 1.2L. A car that takes 16.1 seconds to get to 60mph at best. The woman driving this one must have been in 5th gear, and I'm sure didn't really even put her foot down. She sat alongside the back of it for ages trying to make ground but it just wasn't happening. As you can guess an astra van soon came around the bend at 60, had to slow down a load and pull right to the side. Bus driver also moved right over and hit the brakes. Later I got behind her here at this slip road 20mph. Decided the safest thing to do was high beam her and get her out the way. I got on the motorway before she'd done a quarter of the slip road. Yes, driving too fast is dangerous, but driving a really slow car slowly is too. Edited September 18, 2014 by TiM!
Smoothybb
Indicators? What are they for? I've been driving a BMW for years and I'm pretty sure my car doesn't have them. I long ago deduced that they are in fact an optional extra on bimmers, part of an upgrade pack most bimmer drivers don't know exist.

ReggieC
I regularly get people thinking that because I drive an old car that I drive at half the speed limit all the time. Almost everyday somebody pulls out on me at a roundabout, quite often I get people thinking that me going 55 in a 60 is too slow and they overtake as soon as they can forgetting that cars come the other way. I had a very near miss the other day, a car overtook me around a long left hander just as a car was coming the other way, from my perspective I could see the car before him so slammed on my breaks, If i hadn't when he swerved he would have ran me into dense woodland and probably killed me. Nitroholic
I got a 10 mile commute through London traffic .... and I am amazed at the impatience, idiocy and suicidal nature of a lot of road users. Just today.... watched an idiot on a scooter trying to undertake traffic using the pavement when he ran out of room... cyclist hammering down the pavement swerving across a pedestrian crossing in front of a lorry... cars and cyclists ignoring red traffic lights. Not amber ones....red ones where the traffic has started moving... Pedestrians crossing in front of me when the lights have changed ...on Holloway road, where there are 6 lanes of traffic... car deciding to turn left across the front of a bus. No point in sitting behind it..no...overtake it and turn left across it's front. Much better. Usual quota of pedestrians who wander across bus lanes without looking because the traffic isn't moving. Of course....no need to look because there couldn;t be traffic moving in a bus lane...and that phone call is so important. Pedestrians who leg it across the road 10m from a pedestrian crossing rather than use it and walk slightly out of there way. Of course...I should stop for them. Pedestrians wandering between lanes of traffic at the lights, so they can get stranded when the cars start moving. I don't ride on the pavement...so why do peds think it's OK to wander around in the road. Then there are the ones who eyeball you daring you to run them down. For you.....I drop a gear and nail the throttle. You soon find out how determined they are not to up their pace a touch and get off the damn road! Biggest chuckle of the day came from a frumpy lady cyclist lecturing other cyclists at a set of lights for not wearing helmets. She then set off through the red light at a leisurely pace, and proceeded to block everyone else by cycling slowly along in the middle of the bus lane, so no-one could get past when they caught her up....or the lycra warrior shouting at a woman for stepping out in front of him....at a pelican crossing in Finsbury Park....which he had just tried to cycle through on a red light....her response.... "Either you are a moron, or just red/green colourblind...either way, you should learn how traffic lights work"
HYPER-BOY
Yesterday saw a motorbike (Hayabusa) in Worcester going around the roundabout as normal, a Fiesta with 2 idiot women and 3 kids in the back just pulled clean out on the bike, which ripped the front bumper off the Fiesta and mangled a great hole in the side of his engine... The woman who was the girls mother jumped out f'ing and jeffing at the biker and shouting 'I got 3 kids in the back'.. So I thought I'm not having it and stopped, got out and offered the guy my number so I can testify what I saw.. To which the fat ugly woman snarled at me 'What the **** are you doing you dic**ead?? That was his fault' - To which I decided to stay calm and say if that's what you think luv. The amount of muppets on the road now is unreal, if I did that I would of got out and asked the biker if he was ok and offered my apology.. I hope he takes her for all he can get.

TiM!
Worcester is a nightmare for getting pulled out on. I first discovered that the swift can pretty much stop in its own length from 30mph there.

Smoothybb
Shurrup you, I always indicate, and hold my line on roundabouts Translation: I don't use those common little orange light things, I point at people and tell them they're in my bit of road. Every lane is my lane, I'm in a bimmer. Those white lines are for other people, simpletons who can't choose the right line........ (I jest. Makes no odds whether they're in a bimmer, focus, transit or golf, some people just think indicators are just too much of a distraction.) Thunderwolf
i may only have had my license for afew weeks and be yet to start driving on my own, but i'f seen sometihngs just doing my lesson and even just as a passenger. 3 of note that i can think are a dumper truck i came across in a lesson, i had just pulled out of a T-junction on the advise of my instructor there was plenty of room, no sooner had i got onto my side of the road and got upto the speed limit (about 40mph) i hear this loud horn blast from behind me and see this dumper truck in my rear view taking up the whole rear window, i won't repeat what my instructor said but basicly he said the guy must have been speeding, for the next 2 or 3 miles of road i had this truck within spitting distance of the rear bumper, had i'd been only a leason or 3 in i'd have unloaded afew bricks, the moment we got to a wide space he floored it around me, running 2 red lights in the process 2nd is while as a passenger in my mums car we are waiting at a red light to turn right across a main road, there are 3 lanes, there is a single car infront of us and we just wait, soon as the lights change the car infront moves off as he should, while another car just drives in from our left over the hash markings on the road and into the car park of the super market we were heading to, his excuse was "i didn't see anyone" to which my mum's fiance had quite alot of fun with using the hired van he was following us in. 3rd and final happen just afew days ago, at a (fairly dangerous imo) junction onto a dual carriage way without a slip road, a fiat 500 was waiting for a place to pull out, the female driver moved forward, either because it looked clear or to get a better view, something i agree with as a turn i've done in lessons several time myself, she stopped and a white van sitting behind her must have though she had gone and didn't stop, naturally ramming the small car from the rear. what really got me (was passenger with mum's fella) was the van didn't hessitate at all, he/she just reversed, mounted the kerb, drove over the grass, and jumped onto the road without even second guessing if there was anyone there and got the hell out of dodge. poor girl driving was really shock up, took her 3 attempts to get the car off the road and out of the way, this is also the only time i've sent a witness statement to the police about something i've seen, no one else stopped to see if they were ok except me and mum's fella. oodboo
I was going round a large roundabout a good few years ago and there was this yellow van with a couple of wideboys in it behind me. He'd been tailgating me for a bit and trying to get past me before hitting the round about and when I pulled off an exit before him he saw his chance and put his foot down. Now it's probably worth saying I wasn't doing anything to purposefully block him or driving too slow to provoke him, there just wasn't anywhere for him to pass. He must've felt great, finally getting to go as fast as his knackered van will go. However said van didn't handle the speed too well and went straight off the roundabout and into the trees just before his exit. Thinking back I probably should have stopped to check they were ok, that's what I'd do now, but at the time I just had a little chuckle to myself and carried on.
johninderby
Do you think I should re-name this the roundabout thread? Another clueless driver. Driving past a line of cars and vans parked outside a shp the other day. Suddenly a van shot out backwards causing me to brake hard, then a few yards further on at a roundabout decided they weren't going to go the normal way round it but turned right instead and went the wrong way round. Well I suppose it was a shortcut. John Edited September 19, 2014 by johninderby

Smoothybb
I do remember well an accident in a car park a few years back. I was sat waiting for 2 people to reverse out of spaces exactly opposite each other. Man in space 2 saw man in space 1 reversing so stopped, brake lights clearly on, reverse lights off. Man1 reverses straight into man2 then stops, blocking my way so I have to sit there and wait. Cue man1 jumping out, accusing man2 of reversing into him. No matter how much man2 argued man1 refused to accept he was in the wrong and started getting aggressive. Up to this point I was sat there chuckling to myself but when it looked like it might get nasty, I got out and said "right lets calm down shall we". Cue man1 asking "who the f$% Edited September 19, 2014 by Smoothybb
