PraetoR
As per title. GilbertRC1 suggested this; I thought it was a good idea. Please put up photos of your CC-01s. With descriptions of mods/upgrades and suggestions. Essential mods. Any advice that should be shared, best way to get the most out of it, that kind of thing. I haven't taken delivery of my Unimog yet, but I have a nice list of upgrades and a colour scheme in mind already! POST AWAY, MATEYS, YAAAAAARR!! oodboo
Here's mine: Best upgrade so far has been the tyres. Doesn't really need anything else but that's not the point. Anyway, 1st mods during build should be (in my opinion anyway): Bearings C hub modification (cut the travel limiting stops off) Lock the rear diff with the plastic parts provided I've locked the front diff as well but not sure it's helped much more than just increased the turning circle.

PraetoR
I'm going to build mine with a whole host of updates right off the bat. Including: Bearings, better tyres, 65t crawler motor, crawler ESC with drag brake, GPM steering set and metal servo-mount, steering increased (limiters removed), front universal driveshafts (longer throw can make standard driveshafts fall out), Junfac 4-link suspension upgrade with skid plate, undecided on a front bumper/skid plate- as I can't find one I really like, yet. Hi mate, here's something you might want to add to your upgrade list, it means you don't need an drag brake on your esc. Ben.

Thanks for the advice, but I can't watch videos on this ship. The internet is so slow that all streaming videos etc. are blocked. But it's OK, because I have a spare crawler ESC from another project, so I'm covered. Nice Unimog, by the way.
johninderby
My CC-01 CJ7 This is the first CC-01 that I built, and not a lot has been done to the chassis except for sorting out the steering. Pretty well all the work went into the shell. The ABS body has tons of detail but still needs some improving. The worst offender being the huge unsightly bump outs on the rear for the body mounts. I cut out the rear corners of the body and filled in with ABS sheet. Fiddly job but makes such a difference to the appearance. I shortened the rear body posts and put several layers of ABS on the inside of the body with holes for the shortened posts to fit into. Also fitted bolts to the inside of the spare tyre mount that act as inwards facing body mount posts and fit through holes in the rear of the chassis and provide the real support to the rear of the body. Rear bumper made from piece of 6mm thick delrin sheet. Front bumper had a raised US style license plate area that took a lot of filing and sanding to remove. Necessary as I would be fitting a UK license plate. Fastrax roof rack with assorted tools and water and petrol cans and a couple of bridging ramps. Didn't want to overdo it as I've seen roof racks with so much on them that it's a wonder the truck/jeep is able to stay upright. Working windscreen wipers fitted....well they move back and forth at least. Wheels are RC4WD 1.9" white spoke wagon wheels and tyres are RC4WD Rock Creepers which look really scale. Wheel hubs are from Aisin Yota to give that bit more scale detail. Front skidplate is from Radshaperc. Ah........just noticed that I've still got to make up some Warn decals for the winch. That's awesome, like a proper low range box on a RL 4wd Think i'd personally tkae the easier route of just fitting a high turn motor (50+) and a crawler ESC though. johninderby
Tried about half a dozen different motors in CC-01s and the favourite so far is the Etronix Tuned 50T. Good low speed performance but still has good top speed. John

johninderby
Not used that particular motor but it's one of the basic ones with bushes and isn't rebuildable.. The Etronix though is a lot better quality with ball bearings and is rebuildable and only a few quid more. http://www.timetunnelmodels.co.uk/live/catalog/seproduct_info.php?products_id=53934 John

The HPI will work OK so no need to worry about it. It just won't be as durable, and of course can't be rebuilt. John

Pingman
This guy has used a set of TA03 super low friction dampers (oil filled aluminium type) to get a lower running height with the standard wheels, I quite like it http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=108365&sid=11280
