It would be nice if gold member got a discount but I don't think it will happen due to the fact that they did it once before and stopped for a reason. It can't hurt to ask for a discount! The discounts are just getting too expensive for most retailers nowadays. I think most people wouldn't believe how tiny the profit margins are on kits for example which explains why the prices don't vary very much between retailers.There are some retailers that don't actually stock much of anything, but just order in the items after they get an order. Hence why the proper bricks and motor retailers that actually carry the stock aren't usually the cheapest. And before you ask, yes I used to be involved in the hobby business but got out of it a few years ago as I got fed up of working all those hours for increasingly diminishing returns. Point of note, use of the word 'pal' is rather aggressive, not to mention insulting. No one is saying that you should spend more on a part, simply because it is for sale via a UK retailer; generally speaking,MS pricing is some of the most competitive in the UK, especially on kits/rtr/artr. In a perfect world, they would be cheaper than everyone else... No UK retailers are able to compete with US prices, so you order from the states, and if no customs bill, it's cheaper, if you get a bill, then any saving can quickly vanish. As noted, if an electrical item, where do you stand re a warranty claim? Return to seller, ergo any saving you made buying, is swallowed up in return postage costs etc. MS customer service has been excellent, in my experience, and in some cases, that alone is worth a small price difference. All forum members shop around, seeking a better deal. MS have price matched for myself, when appropriate, they also appreciate that on certain items, I've bought elsewhere as they couldn't match the price; hasn't altered our relationship any... Moaning on the forum about what YOU expect in the way of a financial discount from MS is like a blunt pencil, IMHO. Likewise, use of the term 'chill pill'...however, I won't digress further with a detailed and grammatical correction of why it is an over and misused phrase. While there is no discounts available, if you are making a high value order, call them and ask what they can do for you and they might be able to knock a little off.
