Iain .R
Here's the small bit I was on about you can see the small silver mark on the drive shaft it made .
Iain .R
The batteries are not swollen or damaged but I dont know how old they are /been on the sellers shelf . I'm meeting a guy weds who's in to RC stuff and hes going.to check the car over for me I'll get him to do the batteries as well .as I'm sure hes done that . I need to change the connectors to run lipo batteies. I thought I seen somewhere in the instructions not to use lipo batteries I guess that what the soldering is about . It's a brushed type . Nickarla
You only need to solder if the lipos come with different connectors to what the car has. I would always go for the lipos that are right for the car and solder different connectors if needed. The brushed esc is rubbish. It will break sooner or later, if you use lipos it’ll break sooner. Get a HobbyWing 1060. Excellent value for £20. Far tougher and runs more efficiently.

DAL3D
Now the proud owner of a Quanum Vandal so will no doubt be reading this entire 240 page thread for hints and tips! Already have a few spares as the front will share components with my outlaw which is now quite blue with alloy parts 👍 Edited November 25, 2020 by DAL3D

The esc? If the esc is faulty it doesn’t matter how charged the batteries are it will still be faulty. The connectors used aren’t relevant to esc faults. Iain .R
Hi all well I had the car and the batterys checked over the 2 new ones are knackered and don't have a cut off chip so he thinks they been used burned out and sent back and.sold to me . Also he found drive shaft is too short and not original it been bodged in so I need to buy a new correct size one . Also recommended I change all the cogs from plastic to metal. Same with steering linkage even tho the middle is metal the parts connecting to the wheels and body are plastic. So hes recommended batterys and charger . So got to buy these and then the parts he will fit them for me . Then off to have fun with the car .

Hi sorry its I dont know anything about RC stuff I just found out that it's the Batterys that are knackered. I was just trying to find out why my ftx carnage was not running anymore or as long as it should . . The question.i thought if the euc was faulty would it stop my car from working and as bad as it is . As you pointed out if the ECU is at fault it wont work . Just my lack of knowledge on these things thanks

I saw 1hour run times drop to 50 minutes a year later. I would not wast money on nimh. Get some decent lipos from Hobbyking, Zippy or Turnigy (Modelsport are far too overpriced for lipos), and a decent LiPo charger from Modelsport. Basically this: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/zippy-6000mah-2s2p-35c-hardcase-pack.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_gb_shopping&countrycode=GB&gclid=CjwKCAiA-_L9BRBQEiwA-bm5fg-4_8BDhzL8jigzBFwJvzlcrQJJdU3xXkiWlasU9_XJLg6mc7wOURoCFaoQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds And this https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=425241&gclid=CjwKCAiA-_L9BRBQEiwA-bm5fpvHKkuwpW6f7uuHES5HGU7NLS7FNKwJii-vtackKFLXk2sgWKUrJxoC5xMQAvD_BwE You will need to buy some connectors and learn to solder. Its not hard and the rewards are definitely worth it. Something like these https://hobbyking.com/en_us/genuine-xt60-nylon-connectors-male-female-5-pairs.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_gb_shopping&countrycode=GB&gclid=CjwKCAiA-_L9BRBQEiwA-bm5flX99DBJ6INnNO-wIcFZJRou6CUDPWdg_Ezx1h3nIJRt9z4FSRqLyRoC-c8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds if you still get low drive times then the issue is with the car. @Iain .Rwhat he said 👆 Seems like an investment but worth it
Iain .R
The guy I went to the other day has found a brand new complete lipo set up off WISH . For £18 that's every thing to run lipo batterys . Then need to.buy lipo batterys . As the charger I bought charges lipo batterys so that's cool . On ebay just.the motor is £20 . But WISH takes month to arrive lol . Maybe it's just the transmitter that it comes with but unless you make 0.5mm adjustments on the lever they are either on or off. From what I can gather, the brake is either on or off. Agree it would be nice to modulate. Do more expensive ESC’s permit modulated braking?

DAL3D
Today I took the Vandal - replaced the existing Brushed system with a Brushless one @Fourmiz29 had bought previously and not used (i.e: I stole it) and fitted a few other bits to turn it into a Hooligan / Fiesta Rally car. But as the new ESC was a bit bigger than the existing one, I took everything off the chassis and fitted the blue alloy chassis so was a total rebuild really. Even added my big Fiesta's number plate to it for a laugh. From this: Mid chassis swap (OH Senton in the background getting serviced after a good muddy session down the skate park) Filling up the gap at the bottom of the motor mount with hot glue while it was all apart: Everything back on the new chassis plate: Then the body: Will give it a better test than around the kitchen with the dog looking bemused tomorrow.
Iain .R
Hi all I have bought 3 batterys off ebay . 3PC 7.2V 3500mAh Ni-MH Battery Flat Pack Female-tamiya for RC Car Truck Traxxas Also a fast charger so when they all arrive will it be ok to charge these new batterys up with the fast charger or a trickle charger . As iv been told as these are brand new if i use fast charger on these it damage them best to use a trickle charger I have emailed the seller to ask but not replied and I guess they be arriving soon . So any help/info will be fantastic. Thanks Edited November 28, 2020 by Iain .R
Fat Freddy
Been a while since I used Ni-mh’s. Can’t honestly remember. If you think you are going to get into this hobby, switch to Lipo’s when you can afford to. It’s worth the extra £’s

James.S
Got a few clips with the Carnage today. Conditions weren't great. A bit wet & muddy with a thick covering of leaves, but the FTX on 3s plowed on through like it was nothing 😋 2
