Don't bother with that 2s malarkey [emoji12] [emoji106] Edited April 22, 2015 by Relativenewbyseb
ostewart
I use a 3800kv motor, and mine runs 17mm hex with 1/8 on road rally wheels I got 43mph on 2s I have geared it to 26/83 now, still good for around 40mph, plus my blitz has lots of alum parts and is heavy
scotty_b
Bearings might be wrecked Punch doesn't affect top speed You won't get 40mph out of that gearing 30mph max Slightly disappointed if that's the case. My brushed does 22mph on a Lipo although the motor is toasty after it.
sjw
Which gps/speedo app are you using? May strap my old phone on and see.. is that how you do it?
everclear1984
I cable tied my Galaxy note 4 to the battery strap, risky but it worked well. I just typed speedometer into the play store and downloaded a couple to try out.
scotty_b
Gave the Storm a well deserved clean and wrapped a few parts in 4d Carbon. Probably the last time I'll use the brushed set-up. Are the ESC and motor worth anything?

Pistonhead
Regularly had 49/50mph out of my old Firestorm on 3s using 16/87 gearing with the 9t Leopard combo with reasonable temps. It took about 100yds before i could use full throttle without it picking up the front end, it probably would have gone faster but ran out of road lol. everclear1984
Well that was an expensive 15 minutes bashing Add to that the snapped plastic that separates the battery from the servo! (not sure on the name). The replacement bumper needs to get here asap, I'm skint!
stretch
Ouch, the bit that seperates battery and servo is the bulkhead. Edited April 23, 2015 by stretch
everclear1984
Ouch, the bit that seperates battery and servo is the bulkhead. Thanks. I've glued and plastic welded it using a soldering iron the best I can. I also remembered that I have some of the foams that stop the battery from sliding around so I'll be using them in the future. brasso
Hi, my lads got a standard e firestorm. I ordered him a 2s lipo and I think i've set the esc correct, 2 beeps. It doesnt seem any faster than the 8.4 v nimh? Is that right? Will the lipo just last longer?

Keep an eye on temps and if it's not running too hot then gearing up might be an option.
scotty_b
When I tried lipo on the standard model it wheelied and accelerated faster than nimh. It never looked close to wheelies with nimhs. Top speed was the same. There was also no drop off in performance at all.

froggy8
everclear, is your servo broke now? im on the look out for some very decent wheel sets guys, which ones would you recommend please?
everclear1984
Yeah it's knackered Fortunately I have a spare, although it doesn't even have the power to turn the wheels at a standstill. I'll make do until I can afford a decent one.
everclear1984
More worrying is the grinding noise coming from the motor. It's only a cheapy one but I need it to last a little while longer yet! I guess that might explain the poor performance/low top speed.
