Painting a polycarbonate shell using a brush

Recommended Posts

A long time ago I painted a Boomerang shell with polycarbonate paint using a brush.  In those days, the paint was available in jars as well as spray cans.  It turned out okay but maybe that was because it was white.  I want to paint a new shell and I'm thinking about hand painting it.  Has anyone tried this recently and if so, how did it turn out?  Was the colour fairly even or was it visible that it was not sprayed?

I have only ever brush painted one shell, a Kyosho Sierra cosworth (wish i still had that) with black paint in jar and it turned out well as you still painted on inside, not so sure you will get poly paint in jars

You can spray the paint into a container or plastic cup and then brush on. I know it's not ideal but it's worked for smaller areas when needed.

I can't find a spray paint in the colour I want.  My plan is to buy airbrush paint and apply it with a brush.
