My son has an ECX torment 1/18 and I've bought 100wt shock oil which is recommended for this model. How would the standard FS shocks fair using this oil?
I was never a fan of the brushed shell so I bought a clear and got it how I like it:
Tamiya ps16 backed with silver and black. I also rit dyed the stock wheels and wrapped the spoiler in carbon vinyl.
I spent far too long messing with nimhs. Once you go lipo you won't go back.
Soldering isn't as hard as it looks. I am now confident after a few goes, you just need a 60w iron, flux paste, heat shrink, 60/40 solder, helping hands and youtube.
I have just been out for a bash with my son and his 1/18 Torment for the first time using a 2s Lipo. I checked the motor temps every few minutes and it was steady at around 180f but towards the end it was reading 240f and smelling very cooked.
As far as I can find it runs a 14t pinion so I might change that to an 11t I found on Ebay but I doubt that would bring down the temp by 100f. Maybe Lipo is a step too far for brushed 380 motors.
I'm looking to replace the motor with a Traxxas Titan 380 which I believe is a straight swap and will hopefully last a bit longer.
If anyone can recommend me a good 380 brushed then please do so. Thanks
No keen on brushless as I would need to change the ESC TX and RX as they are in one unit.
Check it this morning and it looks like this:
Still sitting at 3.78/3.73 but the blue wrapping has burst open.
Brought it to work with me as I didn't trust it in the house.
I checked the voltage every week and the 2nd cell only lost 0.03v over a 5 week period without use.
I'll take it for another run and see if the same happens again.
Shame, we must be losing a good few mins of runtime. Still way longer than nimh though.
During the bash the brush motor reached 160 degrees and esc and lipo around 80. Are these considered safe temps?
Help...
How do you reset the tx and rx?
Reason I ask is that for some reason when I turn off my tx the car shoots off at full speed. After messing around with it the rx sits ready after sounding the beeps only when I turn off the tx.
