  1. Built myself a new light panel for photography purposes. My old panel contained 15 LED's, this one contains 253, so quite the upgrade! Test shots went very well. I used some high CRI strips so colour reproduction should be close to actual daylight
  2. Where can I find a 2mm to 3.17mm shaft adaptor? Tamiya supply one with their 370 size motors (here) but I don't really want to spend £20 on a motor I won't use just to get the adaptor from it

Yes Bert-w164, that's exactly what I'm after. They're back in stock as well so I'll order a few! Thank you 👍

  3. The new pair of Jeans I ordered online have more holes in than the old Jeans they are replacing. Maybe I'm getting old and not understanding fashion, but that just don't seem right 😅

I got told off for wearing a tshirt with a hole in the side by a girl. I asked her why its okay when she/other girls wear jeans that look like the outcome of being in a caged fight with a tiger. I was told its fashion, and I don't know fashion, but the take away message should be a guy wearing a tshirt with a hole in it is wrong. On the drive back , "Tupac - wonder why...." was played and not long after that she saw a swift exit from my world 🤪

Edit: Tshirt with hole wasn't a fashion design, hole was there due to good use and I saw it as a cooling hole.

  4. I have just been asked to return an item that was never delivered in order to get a refund 🤦‍♂️.  They've sent a shipping label and everything. What am I supposed to do with this 🤣

Have you got screen shots of the tracking.  Just to be on the safe side

    3. danny boy

      danny boy

Yeah I've got it all! The tracking said the parcel was out for delivery, then after a few days it switched to "no information available" like it just vanished. I've bought another lens since then and it arrived in a couple of days, so somethings not right

The thing gets complicated ....but consumer rights are clear.

The item is not delivered, and no proof of delivery exists.

The retailer has to refund or replace the item at no cost oto the purchaser.

The seller then gets their money back from teh carrier, assuming they took the precaution of suitable insurance

Now, if the company is overseas, you may run into issues actually excercising those rights. So, if you bought with a credit card......go to them first. Its very likley that they will cover the loss, and that starts the ball rolling. Credit card company refunds you, retailer gets a chargeback...they now go get their money from the carrier that lost the goods.

  5. Anyone received a parcel from UPS recently? Had one that was supposed to be delivered 3 days ago but the tracking info shows it hasn't moved from Stanford Le hope for three days.

got one about a hour ago  and it was supposed to be here today.

Don't know what's going on with tracking lately with any company, I've bought some stuff this week and 2 parcels have arrived so far that are apparently still at the hub

    3. danny boy

      danny boy

Well I've arrived home today and still nothing. It was out for delivery 3 days ago and is still out for delivery. If it does not turn up tomorrow I guess I'll have to consider it lost?

  6. I've ordered this camera lens that I thought was coming from the UK, but has actually been shipped from the EU.  The price I paid included £41.50 VAT (20%).  Is this the UK VAT that has been applied at point of sale, or will I get taxed again when it gets to the UK?

    1. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

If you paid VAT at source, then you should not get further taxed. It means the company is properly registered to pay UK VAT. When they do that, they pay tax at source.
You invoice should show it as VAT.

Thanks Nitroholic! Hopefully that is the case then. I imagine a large company like Olympus would have their accounts in order so fingers crossed 👍

  7. Today has been a case of print, tweak, re-print, repeat until happy. Took a few attempts but finally got there. Ready for paint now when it arrives, may be a few days yet though 😞
  8. More of a what did I do for my model today. I turned a broken computer monitor in a light panel for photographing my models. Tore the screen apart and installed some super bright pure white LEDs to give a very nice soft daylight like glow. So now even in a pitch black room I can still have pure "daylight" for my images.
  9. Technically still a model, just not RC 😛 But set about altering this minichamps 1/18 Ford Escort model to closer match something else.
  10. Wired up the B6.2. A bit of an experiment as well. I'm hoping the MT60 connectors are beefy enough to support the motor. I kind of doubt it, but if they do, it will make hotswapping motors between buggies a lot easier.
  11. Does anywhere offer an ESC rewiring service? I need to replace the two power leads and all three motor leads on an Orion R10 pro. I tried it today and boy is that some tough solder. Holding a 100w iron against the contacts for 5 minutes did nothing. I managed to get two swapped but it looks like an absolute mess. I'll break the ESC if I try to the rest my self.

a little blob of new solder on the tip works wonders for heat transfer (I use cored electrical solder with the flux already in it )

    3. Nitroholic

      Nitroholic

The fresh solder ( if its flux cored solder) is also adding flux.

You will be surprised how much less heat is needed to melt the old solder that way

    4. danny boy

      danny boy

No new solder does not help at all, I end up with a melted blob of fresh solder just sitting on top of the old solid solder. It heats it eventually but not in a time frame I’m comfortable with. Maybe these wires just weren’t meant to be removed so they used some high heat stuff. I don’t know, that’s why I wanted a professional or something.

  12. Aw shucks, the RC10b6.2 has been pulled from the Modelsport store. Missed out there I think

  13. Really thinking about getting the Associated B6.2 from MS for £209. Fantastic price, but I haven't raced for about 4 years. Wonder if I should pick it up again.

  14. Just discovered the hard way the fuel gauge in my 1:1 car reads incorrectly. When it's at 1/4 full, that means it's empty 😆

Not sure that it's just a Ford thing @danny boy as the Nissan 350Z is also known for it's dickey fuel gauge at times. 😉

  15. Today I have completed the 3D modelling work for the RS2000 seats that are going in the Tamiya Escort shell. Going to print them off next week see how they look.
  16. So is the HPI Jumpshot a hardened basher like the Firestorm was. or is it  more oriented to the first RC budget market?

    1. Lone-wolf

      Lone-wolf

if you mean the lower cost brushed one then not hardened basher, but new ST flux is pretty good

V1 wasn't up to much from memory, think Praeto had one, not sure he was that impressed.  V2 is better by all accounts, but i'd be surprised if it was up to Firestorm/Blitz levels of durability.  Only one way to find out...!!!

  17. The Mk2 escort shells arrived. Gotta say I'm really impressed with the quality. They look really good.
  18. Woohoo. Had an email from Modelsport saying my Tamiya Escort shells are ready for dispatch. Now just gotta decide how to paint them.

I think they didn't get enough to fill the orders they had. I was thinking of a road version for mine, something like this:

Changed my mind, going with another rally livery. Ordered these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154346687667

Oh now that's cool. I'm still undecided where to go with mine. Too many options 😆

  19. Anyone able to confirm if the first 20 seconds of this video is correct? It's a video about telling the difference between imperial and metric bolts. Never heard that one before, but seems obvious once you think about it.

    1. Alex97

      Alex97

Yep, there's loads of markings that can be used as well.

I never knew about the imperial bolt markings

  20. A SEQURE SQ-ES126 Mini Electric Screwdriver. I got a really good deal on this. And I can whole heartedly say DO NOT BUY ONE. This screw driver costs over £70 in the UK. A silly price for a screwdriver, and I at least expected it to come with everything included in the box. But guess what, they don't even include a charger for that price, you have to supply your own. I have just had to order one separately because nothing I had already will fit. Until it arrives it is a paperweight. Sequre are however kind enough to offer a small selection of bits for the screw driver. It's just a shame they don't fit and will fall straight out. Why even put these in the box? The words cash grab comes to mind with this product. Shiny packaging and good marketing. But poor quality and supplied with parts that don't even fit.
  21. Always liked the micro Carisma rally cars. Not sure what to make of the shell though.
  22. Does anyone know where I can find a Tamiya M-08 in stock in the UK? Plenty in Europe but they won't ship to UK anymore.

    1. Ray68

      Ray68

Tamico will still ship to UK providing the order is a certain value 135euro and you order via email.

  23. Sorry I got carried away. I think the wheels are some variation of Mamba alloys. Usually a style you'd find on classic minis. Never seen a set on a Ford though. So I could be completely wrong 😆
  24. Have you got any close ups of the wheels? I can't seem to figure out what they are. They look like they have four sets of two spokes? Kind of like RS wheels but a bit wider.
  25. Without a doubt Cibie brackets wrapped in foam or something. Absolute shin killers if you walked into one without it on. In case you did want something bigger. Triple 9 also do a 1/18 scale model that is cheaper than the Minichamps one. It's a good model but does not have opening doors or bonnet. But it does have the big wings you are after. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ESCORT-RS2000-RED-MK1-2-DOOR-CLASSIC-1-18-SCALE-MODEL-SUPERB-DISPLAY-PIECE/363281362069?hash=item549541ac95:g:BiIAAOSw~CVc97T6
