When traxxas do a traxxas thing, the ESC/ RX unit will only work with the traxxas Id batteries. This isn't a massive deal breaker however the 750mah traxxas battery is £17!

Got a notification for this yesterday, probably in store only though? Shame as there is no more LHS for me in Guildford! All gone years ago.

I ended up going for the FCX24, better spec on paper and there's been stories of the ESC blowing up and the servos are steipping easily on the TRX4M 😥

Just to be clear on this @Alex97 can you only use Trx id batteries with this?  Or is that only if you want the extra telemetry or whatever it is?

Yes and no, without having to buy / make an adaptor for a balance lead (currently they are all home made) the ESC will only let you use the traxxas battery. If you use a normal battery and plug it in (2 pin JST) the ESC won't turn on. If you want to use your own controller you'll need a replacement ESC anyway so it's not really an issue.

These things are already turning up on eBay for £350.

I'm on another forum and a few of them (UK) have had ESC/receiver fires already, and only after a quick test drive on the floor.

It's one way to keep your house toasty in winter I guess...

Not sure, pretty sure some shops still have stock.  They will soon be out though as a lot seem to be buying several at a time.

The overpriced resellers on eBay are just trying to cash in early, no doubt people will fork out 5x the RRP because they don't want to disappoint their kids at Christmas.  Be better off just teaching the kids to wait and buy them when stock is back.
