Yes and no, without having to buy / make an adaptor for a balance lead (currently they are all home made) the ESC will only let you use the traxxas battery. If you use a normal battery and plug it in (2 pin JST) the ESC won't turn on. I'm on another forum and a few of them (UK) have had ESC/receiver fires already, and only after a quick test drive on the floor. They will soon be out though as a lot seem to be buying several at a time. The overpriced resellers on eBay are just trying to cash in early, no doubt people will fork out 5x the RRP because they don't want to disappoint their kids at Christmas.
