It's been a while since I last updated this build. I've been busy working on this and my Hilux trying to get them both finished for the G6 at the end of May. So, all the metalwork has been etched primered waiting for the top coat, which will be black. Final fill of the cab joint. Pretty pleased with the outcome. I also made the decision to take out the stock fuel filler and add in a more scale looking one from Don Jarr. It wasn't too tricky to do, but did require a bit of cutting inside the rear bed, which I wasn't too happy about. Much happier with the look now. Painted up the RC4WD inner fenders. Black lexan paint first of all followed by two coats of bed liner for a more realistic look. And I finally got round to starting the final colour. Peugeot Seville Orange. I hadn't got any plans to do much to the interior as it looks pretty good standard, so I just added a few small details. Here's the beginning of the final colour. The last paint job was to add the black details. So, out came an array of masking tapes. The body is still drying, but here's how the screen came out. Really pleased. I then started looking at all the trim pieces and it dawned on me that all the chrome pieces wouldn't look right with all the black detailing. So, I removed the chrome and primered everything ready for the final black coat tomorrow. And lastly for now, I picked up this great looking tire strap from Club 5 Racing. It's really nicely detailed and easy to assemble. Hopefully the next update will be the final finished truck, so stay tuned...1 point

Personally I'd say no. To me it looks like all the parts left over that the company couldn't sell, they add 'alloy' into the title and raise the price to an extortionate amount, notice no real brand names, because it's probably all cheap monkey metal. For that you could get an SCX10.2 kit, some very good electrics, paint and lots of accessories to keep you happy. You get the pleasure of building it, choosing your own colour, having some quality electrics and not a massively heavy metal truck. I've not used one, so I can't give you a comparison, but if that thing is better than a box stock SCX10.2, I'll eat my own hat. And then you also factor in price of electrics too, you'll be nigh on £600 for basically a cheap copy. Get the original, whether it's an SCX10, Ascender, TRX4, or whatever.1 point

I have a trx4 and my lad has a trx4 too. His has hobbywing esc and a Holmes motor with a power hd servo. Mine is stock apart from a power he servo and a bec. I only changed my servo because I wanted to. The original was still going strong as are the micro servos on both cars. Its an excellent truck. We’ve broken a few bits but who doesn’t. We mostly trail run with some crawling thrown in and it’s a blast. They climb stuff well. They descend stuff well too. They go through water nicely but just remember to clean and dry it if you’re going to get it wet. We got my lads 2nd hand and I looked at the axial just for the sake of being different. The quality of the traxxas just felt way better and by the time I’d got radio and other stuff for the axial kit the traxxas seemed cheaper. Ive never felt disappointed with the car. It does everything I ask of it, looks ace and has lasted well. Buy one. You won’t regret it.1 point

If you have time to spare, clean them up, get some detailed pics and stick them up for sale as individual lots, you might be quite surprised how much you make. original monster beetles and Blackfoot models make good money today (depending on condition etc.) those two could fetch £200. thing is how much is your time worth? I personally wouldn’t buy your lot and sell on for profit, traders or not, we’re supposed to be like minded folk helping each other out. And I don’t mean giving stuff away but not stiffing them either. and pics speak a thousand words. Get some stuck up and I’m sure between us we can give a honest value of each car. Hope this helps...1 point
