My brother gave me a couple of micro T battery's and some micro deans to solder on to them for his micro T.

So I soldered them on, and then went to put one in the car. Only to find that the slot in the side of the micro T was not big enough to put the micro deans through.

So I had to take it off again, put the battery in the car and then re-do it! rofl

 Its funny how at those scales the connectors make such a difference. I wish normal Deans had the tab at the ends, would make them a bit easier to hold.

Hi,

What kind of solder do you use? I recognise the RS reel, but is it Lead based or not? I tried soldering using Lead-free solder, and even with a 100W iron I couldn't get it to melt properly =(

always had same problems until started to use flux with lead fee and now no problems (thanks to plumber that gave me a large tube of flux when doing the central heating)

if you can get 60/40 flux cored solder (60%lead 40% tin) you should have no problems with it 'not sticking' as long as you get both wire and connector hot enough

hope this makes things a bit clearer

Just a quick tip for you all.

When soldering deans, use a spare female/male as a heatsink. It does help not to melt the plastic & make sure the iron you use is hot enough for the job.

A good quality 40amp iron will solder upto a 6 cell lipo when using 60/40 fluxed solder & a clean iron.

Done loads of lipo's for my heli's.
