  1. Oops, it happened again... Worth the 300km round trip. The bloke had bought these as part of a job lot with 3x HPI Baja and other 1/5 scale petrols, and had no idea about electric RCs, hence so cheap 😅 He also chucked the boat in for an extra $50 (£30) which was torn apart immediately for the running gear.
  2. This may or may not be getting slightly out of control, but Marketplace strikes again 😂 £25 for a 2wd Slash, can't say no really! Missing a wheel and a motor, shame I've got plenty of spares. Didn't take long to strip it all down, regrease the gearbox, and check all the bearings were okay. It's barely been used, just left outside in a shed for 10 years. The rule was "One RC upstairs at a time"......
  3. Bit of an update, started on the Bandit and the Slash 4x4. The Bandit had barely been used so didn't need a full strip down, just a bit of a clean. Next up was the Slash 4x4, it's seen a fair bit of mud/water over the years, and every single bearing was rusty/seized, the diff grease had gone solid, and the spur gear was stripped. I later found the seized rear diff bearing had worn away at the plastic housing so that needed replacing, and grabbed some RPM nerf bars as the old ones were missing. Picked up a set of bearings for the E-Revo and the Summit as they'll be up next to strip down. Also picked up a set of proline wheels/tyres for £10 off marketplace 😅 I started taking the Stampede apart to find that the gearbox had destroyed itself, so that one can wait for now...
  4. Put it this way, it was less than the cost of a Summit on Modelsport 😂
  5. So after scratching a Traxxas itch last year and buying a 1/16 Traxxas Summit, then a MERV, they've been used a few times out with the dogs, but have mainly been sat on the shelf. I enjoyed stripping them down, replacing every bearing, cleaning every part and putting them all back together. However they're both 100% mechanically sorted, and don't need working on at all. I've always kept an eye on Facebook marketplace for a random bargain/project, until I came across this advert... Always been a massive Traxxas fanboy, and I've never owned an E-Revo before, so naturally bought the lot, for a ridiculously good price (It wasn't $10😁) Surprisingly the Emaxx and E-Revo have Castle systems in them already which weren't even mentioned in the advert. I still haven't properly looked through the numerous boxes of new spares and random bits and pieces. From the top left clockwise: *GV Racing Dominator 1/8 Buggy (Nitro - Yuck) *Traxxas Summit *Traxxas E-Revo (Castle Mamba Monster Combo) *Traxxas E-Maxx (Castle Mamba Monster Combo) *Traxxas Slash 4x4 (VXL) *Traxxas Stampede (VXL) *Traxxas Jato 3.3 (Nitro - Yuck) *Traxxas Bandit *Traxxas 1/16 Summit (VXL) And a random TT01 chassis 😅 I've already stripped/cleaned the 1/16 Summit, luckily had spares from my other 1/16 collection as the gearbox bearings were seized solid! The previous owner obviously had lots of fun with them years ago when he was a teenager but didn't really look after them. Oh well, keeps me busy... How many Traxxas 1/16th's is too many? 😂 I might post up some more progress photos as I clean up/rebuild the rest of them...
  6. Won't lose these new bodyclips anytime soon!
  7. Built the new MERV up how I should have done it 12 years ago. RPM everything! (And black dyed parts, just because)
  8. So Christmas came early by 2 weeks, the MERV arrived! Quickly swapped everything over, already had new shimmed diffs ready to go in to save time, along with RPM everything. The summit has a bit of damage from teeth marks...
  9. So the rally has been stripped down completely, and I had the idea of dying the spare chassis and rocker arms all black for the stealth look. I never liked the blue front rpm arms on the summit, and the red toe/tension rods were just a test, but still came out great. So the summit is actually going to stay like this for now, the black chassis and shell is going to be used on this!
  10. Had to be a Td5, I don't like V8's 😂
  11. A bit of a change from Mx5's and drifting, but equally as much fun getting to explore in it 😎 Full camping setup in the back with dual battery, solar panel, fridge, drawers etc. It's just a more expensive full size scaler 😂
  12. There's a few groups/tracks around, although I've never really seen anyone about with them! These 2 are enough fun to blast around with though
  13. Been living here for 4 years, originally visited as a backpacker for a year, went home and lasted 6 months before making the decision to pack my life into a box/bag and move to Melbourne. 😎 Honestly I think that's the secret formula to enjoying RCs, having disposable income 😂 Buy enough spares and it's non stop fun, even when something breaks. I think I'll pass on the slash, they look too small/narrow, and definitely not as fun as the 1/10th version! Manny! ❤️ Good to be back on here, although chat will always be missed 😢
  14. Been a while since I've been on here! Back again with the Traxxas bug 🤪

  15. So it's been a few years since I last posted on here, or even owned an RC! Spending money on full size cars, moving to the other side of the world, life seemed to have changed... Until the idea of getting another RC popped into the back of my mind. Had a look on marketplace, there's definitely not as much choice as back home, and everything seems more expensive. I considered another Slash 4x4, probably one of my favourite RCs I've owned. However realistically, they are too big, don't fit into a normal backpack, and especially if I want to tire the dogs out and wipe one of them out (They're Frenchies, and stupid) It had to be Traxxas, specifically a Mini E-Revo, which I owned one 12 years ago. Me being young, silly and poor meant that it was only a matter of time before I realised it wasn't the best basher on 3s (absolutely ridiculous) and broke something every time I drove it, and couldn't afford to keep fixing it. Traxxas Mini E-Revo Double Backflip - 15 Mar 2010 Fast forward to last week, and a notification came up from marketplace. "Traxxas 1/16th Summit". Close enough, I could just swap the shell, wheels, rocker arms, right? Picked it up, it's well used, dirty, quite a bit of play in the knuckles, but it's a good start. Had a quick drive of it, very high centre of gravity, rolled over a few too many times then broke a front plastic diff yoke whilst making a clicking noise. Classic Traxxas things! Whilst waiting for parts, I decided to strip it down, clean everything, fit the mini erevo rockers to lower it, fit new bearings, refill the shocks and check the diffs. Both are chewed up. Delightful. Chucked it back together, shimmed the diffs, and hope they don't implode as no-one seems to have stock of them in Australia. A week later, this popped up.... $150 off Facebook. Again, not a mini e-revo, but bearing in mind that new diffs are $50 each, the electrics are well worth the rest, not to mention the gearbox and driveline components I can keep spare. Diffs are in brand new condition. More to come.... Broken stuff so far: 1x Diff output yoke 1x Driveshaft
