@tomr how many rally cars is that in the fleet now?

Six now mate but that’s me done  👍🏻 unless something new comes on the market .

Planning on enjoying them all over the winter months.

How ya getting on with yours?

Very slow progress with the baby and half term this week, have spent all the rest of my “free” time putting ikea furniture together. That should all be done for now though so I’m hoping I might be able to get the shell finished for the XV01 this week and I’ll be putting some orders in for the bits I need to finish off the TB05 build. Just need to decide which body shell to go for.

For the TB05 I’d really like to get one of the recently released Lancer V bodies but I can’t see any about for now so may end up settling for a 99 or 2007 Impreza instead.

Somehow managed to miss this thread. What a great idea! Got me to thinking🤔…..

I have a TT02 that I’ve only ever really used a few times. Was supposed to be a speed runs project with a stupidly overpowered (for a relatively stock TT02), brushless system in it, but I’ve struggled to find anywhere long enough or flat enough for it to achieve its full potential.image.thumb.jpg.41bd0da96aaed39214fdf94b4c175f09.jpg It only needs to hit a pea sized bit of gravel at 35mph and it’s cartwheeling  down the road before it’s really got going. (I got it to 38mph but that was on a public road on a quiet Sunday morning).60E115F3-DD73-42A5-9C92-7401EC7CA48D.thumb.jpeg.c7e02c33a62681ad59cf0f57d5770570.jpeg
As you can see, (AA battery for scale), it has very little ground clearance in its current form.

There’s a car park across road from me but it needs resurfacing and is covered in a generous dusting of gravel, so is useless for speed runs….. but ideal for bazzing about with a rally car?!?

Apparently its relatively easy to get extra ground clearance by flipping the suspension arms. I’m thinking a set of rally wheels, a new shell, and swap back to the silver can and I’m good to go?

Here's a good video how to get more ground clearance

As well as missing this thread, I also missed the news about the arrival of your baby (littleGinge???).

Always late to the party, but many congratulations! I hope baby is thriving and you and Mrs Ginge aren’t losing too much sleep.👍

Well after staying up a bit late (nearly 11:00 😱) I’ve managed to get the shell and bumper foam for the XV01 trimmed and drilled. A quick test fit looks ok, though there isn’t much left of the bumper,  so I guess now it’s time to start masking for paint.

I've just put the final budget together for the XV-01 and it's not looking good. So far I've spent:

XV-01 Lancia Delta Kit: £218.99

Hobbywing 1080 ESC: £39.99

SPT 4412 Servo: £14.34

Tamiya PS6 Yellow Paint: £5.92

Total: £279.24

I've scavenged an Rx, connectors, wire, lots of screws and a couple of tins of paint from the spares pile to use in the build. I've also put a few parts from the spares bin up on eBay to fund the more suitable replacements listed above, so have the following contributions towards the costs:

Traxxas HV5 XL ESC: £38.00

Traxxas 2075x Servo: £30.00

Total: £68.00

That leaves me £211.24 out of pocket and a wee bit over budget. Probably means I should have just gone with a 1060 ESC rather than the 1080; or stuck with the white paint I already have for finishing the shell. However, this build did spur me on to shift a few other unused parts on eBay, that got me another £90, so it still feels like it hasn't been too expensive overall (if I ignore the second build I've also started on now).

Got yourself a mighty fine rally car for £211 though
I was within budget for the HPI at £186 but I’ve spent another £62 on a new body, paint and a 15 turn 550 motor .

Dropped the motor off at an inpost locker today mate 👍🏻

@tomr what sort of mesh/fabric did you use for the cover? I’ve been wondering about trying to put something functional together using an old pair of tights but I haven’t found anything too suitable yet.

It’s this stuff  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124708184726?var=425680630547&hash=item1d092fe296:g:zpsAAOSwT9JgkFI9&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4JEZ17xoFxYWHZpfV3afgrcAKtXUc91E9ob2TpZ0vfDtqg%2FLjxFxyZx5IT6n28tPZ0PYr5WxS7t5C6VxcJkuWbk9K4qlAFKuskXTloiQQEiNMTMcsWilCpEeI%2F7D8jrbLVBzzn1Cf7Ot%2BgAicpqvR6j8XSTeD0VjNvR70n1fXE7fyZyxmf8SJCMqzsC2w9zHfiGPoyFtf5Q60w7mCP%2Bt7vkcorJmPpw9cUP%2B5jpdh8qrz5zGmV6s%2F%2B096yPljNLV7iBP%2BBMamAhm1eCTSkuU8ev%2BqwGGC85lua%2BEMVEycR0s|tkp%3ABFBMtJq06IVh

we use as a fly net on the back doors .

I put  3 pieces together, so triple layer which seems to be working great

I didn’t have you pegged as a tights wearer.

Just had  the Maverick Strada out for its shakedown, it actually did well and handles pretty nice with the Yeah Racing rally shocks.
Needs the rear suspension stiffening up just a smidge and I’ll have to swap the magnet mounts for body posts, it popped too many times for my liking.

The ghetto chassis cover worked a treat and kept the worst of the crap out considering how wet and muddy it was 😁

I've tried a few times but they've always seemed a little small for me.

Ooooh, didn't think I'd be able to get it in different colours.

Did you stitch this together (with the Velcro strip) or just tape the layers down the edge?

I taped the edges then stapled the tape for extra ghetto-ness 😁 super glued the Velcro on

Pure bodge but it works great, I’ve made one for the RS4 as well 👍🏻
