PraetoR
Just ordered the blue pickup version, for my brother-in-law's Christmas. I reckon he'll be over the moon! Looking forward to seeing it go.

Grabbed exactly the same one the other day but not allowed to use it until Xmas, Had a quick look and test and I think there isn't much else about that can match it on price for components/quality.

These are really great little trucks, and not that much smaller than a 1/10th, quite usable
tomr
Fancied a bit of a change from the army Land Rover body, I’ve been searching for a while when this popped up on eBay cheap. Not really sure how this will turn out but the body was cheap so if it ends up in the bin I’ll not be too bothered 😁 My main aim is to be able to leave the chassis exactly as it is now so I can swap from body to body easily using magnetic mounts. Luckily the wheel base looks near perfect 👍 Edited January 20, 2022 by tomr

tomr
Started stripping it down and cutting bits out to try and get it to sit where it needs to be . still need to cut a good bit away around the shock towers
tomr
This is how it looks so far, I’ve got the body as low as I can onto the black plastic frame that it mounts too, it took a fair bit of messing around and cutting but I think it’s nearly there. Also fitted some 15mm extenders and 98mm wheels/tyres, the wheels are only for a test fit I have a set of 95mm on order. Once the wheels and tyres arrive I’ll set about trimming what I need to away from the arches, fit the rear bed then once happy spray the cab ...probably in black 👍 Ground clearance on the front pumpkin is now 1.5 inches 🤩 not bad for a 1/16 Edited January 21, 2022 by tomr
tomr
New wheels with 95mm tyres fitted but hit a slight problem, the current steering set up doesn’t want to turn the much bigger wheels. The stock servo has plenty of power enough to bend and twist the chassis so I’ll need to look into bracing the front chassis rails some how. I think most of the problem is the sloppy steering linkage setup so will look into modifying that first. Ive done a quick mock-up of the body sitting on its mounts and it’s not too far away .
Lone-wolf
Yes lots of slop in steering linkage mate, i found that and it does need a mod

I basically copied the Carisma setup, its connected straight to the knuckle and works great I also now have steering . Thats took all the slop out and feels solid the only play anywhere now is in the servo . Edited January 23, 2022 by tomr

Lone-wolf
I guess this is last pic of the green snot box, all the shocks fully rebuilt 450 oil in rear, 550 in fronts, steering link modified, and new yellow pickup shell on its way
Popular Post Lone-wolf
The new body shell arrived today, well done to Wheelspin models for good price and fast delivery, when i bought the XC i was torn between yellow pickup or green snot box, i now have the choice, this is just a new shell on the original chassis, but i suspect it will stay like this now for a good while

Lone-wolf
quick first run video with yellow shell, the wheels/tyres have to go they just dont cut the mustard, if need be i will go back to stock and just use it for trail work

Lack of grip and hard tyre compared to a crawler tyre, BTW i shot in 2k 60fps but it takes way to long to render and process, going back to 1080p
Stormbringer
Ahh ok mate yeh a softer tyre would be better
Lone-wolf
well its back to stock little wheels as they are not to bad for trail stuff, just so little choice out there, not lowered the body shell yet but might do
