Tamiya supersabre QD

A neighbour from down my street stopped me on weekend asked me if I'm still into RC, goes he has a tamiya buggy which stopped going front an been in left attic for 20 +years.. 

He came back with a box I had a butch an made a deal..

It's a 1988 chassis

At first thought it used a 7.2v battery however when got in realised uses 8 AA 😅 motor a 370 can. So plan was set remove 2in 1 AM board an bring upto dateIMG_20201214_212825.thumb.jpg.d68ebda2806e4a74aadbc31e1550e5ce.jpg

 

drop in a 20a esc an 2.4ghz rx, standard servo(stock was a 5 wire)

Board been removed to allow room for update leccys. Sorted a brushed esc had in box, lined up location for esc an power input, attached esc on-off lead to stock switch, attached motor wires.

Standard servo needed some rework 

1: reroute lead out Rear/bottom of case

 

2:shave off lip where lead originally

exited from servo board

 

3:shave off mount lugs off case

Diff felt too loose for me so dropped in some grease, box it all back together 😊top cover had hole already so aerial had an exit

Stopped over at ikea for some batterys an had a test session, main thing it runs as should just not a speed demon currently 😅 next run be with freshly charged batts an hopefully get some footage. Have a new 370 motor somewhere from ftx blaze moons ago that defo be going in..
