Six horses? Underpowered? Much? With that much weight to lug around, would the drive-train handle much more power?

Really liked the second vid, handled the rock crawling really well. Definitely lacked speed on the flat, but looked fun all the same.

How would it handle a proper crash?

On this video

There are guys wanting to putting bigger engines in it, so i guess we will find out, not till august though, its a long wait. :( I was thinking 6hp is a bit low when you think some 5cc+ nitro engines are pushing 4hp in 1/8th truggies XD

Torque is also a factor. A 5cc nitro wouldn't push a 5th scale very far before exploding into little bits. 6hp is ok for a normal 5th scale.

yeah of course :P its a shame they dont make 50cc nitro engines. That would be nuts :P it would probably blow itself up XD

6hp  is twice what a restricted 50cc motorbike is allowed to make for road use, and that pushes a full sized vehicle around 35mph. 6Hp in that application sees around 55mph pulling a full sized machine plus a person. So...the power is OK....but it all depends on how the power is delivered and the gearing. Bearing in mind, also 'real' vehicles use multiple gears to cover pulling away to full speed ranges. It just looks...slow. It crawls well, and rides neatly over rough ground....but you can't get away from the fact that it just seems to look...well....sluggish.

Oh sure....it's huge. Very impressive. Great...as long as you have a van and can park really close to where you plan to run it. Fancy walking 5 or 10 minutes with this in tow?

No idea how it would handle a crash, but I do know the shell is going to get wrecked fast when it rolls that weight on it....and I think you would have to be brave to ramp it ( and rich... )

but  then consider what you would do with it?

Rag it around like a Baja, chucking dirt and donutting....nope.

Ramp it?

Hard cornering?

None of the above look like things it will do well.

A Baja or a 5ive can be fun in a field. In a park..or even with road tyres on the tarmac. When the 'mines bigger than yours' thing wears off...whats left?

If it can ramp and take a tumble, then I think it might sell, but in reality the only machines that stick around for any length of time tend to be cars that are capable on a track. This won't be.......................ever.

Could you imagine 10 of these tearing round 10th scale track... Now that would be a spectacle

An opinion I voiced many years ago, fell on deaf ears. The conversation was in regard to MT vs Truggys', the Truggy will win every time against an MT on a track, but they are soulless, so very cold. The MT is full of character and is fun to drive! Yeah, they can be frustrating if they're falling over too much, but master the controls and they're a hoot! Now imagine a full heat of MTs tearing up a track! That's fun!

So, yeah, I totally agree with you, a full heat of these would be awesome! But not just for the spectators, for the drivers too!

I have seen a lot more places in merica land start to do solid axle racing now. I wish we had some of that over here, 1/10th buggies are a bit boring in my opinion :P Not as many people here aren't into MT's though, most people have buggies and truggies.

Nearly every MT on sale right now is just a truggy with big wheels anyways.

That too! Things are gradually changing! There's more and more solid axle machines appearing. Not soon enough in my book.

There are only about 3 proper MT's on modelsport, HPI wheely king, Axial SMT10 and the kyosho mad crusher. XD

American 1-How can we make it better?

American 2-We can make it bigger!

American 1-Hell yeah!

Rest of the world-Oh dear!

American 1 would never have said that.....he would have just agreed with American 2 from the get-go.

I can't think of any real instance where America made things better other than by making them bigger......

Why be so negative?

It's huge!!

It's crying out for more power!!!

An option should be a lifting winch for the car / van / pick-up!

(Or a year's supply of steriods and a bodybuilding course!!)

I can't see that being below three grand in the UK.

If it is as tough as the 5ive, then a worthy investment for a hard-core RC enthusiast, otherwise that's some seriously oversized paperweight!

It's going to be a novelty either way. I bet all them will be run around in circles on fields the same way every rcmax powered Losi/Baja hybrid is run.

I can see the fun in the high powered cars, they're exactly the same as full sized drag racing, incredibly fast in a straight line, useless for anything else. I get a thrill from real drag racing, they're awesome, these are the same, but smaller.

This MT should be fun, but will definitely need an injection of power.

  • 2 weeks later...

I love it when there are new things brought into the RC world like this, but unfortunately I can't see it doing well. It'll sell a few in the US simply because it's big and expensive. "Yeah bro, it's hella sick. My buddy has three". ?

Now if they had done exactly what they've done, but kept it 1/5th scale, I think it'd be a winner.
