  1. Why are you trying to start it without the air filter on?
  2. Stripped and cleaned the front arms and uprights and made a list of stainless steel fittings to reassemble the front end with. Also had the front shocks apart and refilled them with heavier oil so probably wont add stiffer springs. Was going to pull the front diff apart but not feeling the love to get covered in gooey oil right this minute 😁
  3. If that is a ZTW ESC I believe they are somewhat prone to catching fire
  4. Back end just about done, might change the rear turnbuckles for titanium at some point, cheaped out this time 😊 Put the original springs back on as the ones i bought recently were just too hard when combined with the change of oil, it was all a bit to stiff.
  5. Last bits for a while, well last expensive bits shall we say..... Rear uprights and shock tower for the 5ive. Looks like they cheaped out with the shock tower, seeing as it only fits their diff housing neither came with fittings to mount it 🙄
  6. Hoping i might have solved the issue where the steel droop screws on the arms gouge out the aluminium chassis. Ordered a couple of nylon tipped grub screws, not sure if they will work or if they are strong enough to last, only time will tell.
  7. Job lot of stainless steel fixings to complete the back end on the 5ive with. Stiffer rear springs although i think they are too stiff now cause i put stiffer oil in when i refilled them, we will see 😊
  8. Pinion should be easy enough to find. The original 2.0 spur gear though looks to be discontinued by Losi but the 8ight series parts are pretty universal cross the range so I dare say you could find one from one of the newer versions of the car. There is this for example although it is a bit pricey https://www.horizonhobby.de/en_DE/product/center-diff-46t-spur-gear-lightweight-8x/TLR342021.html EDIT. Just realised you might have meant diff gears, if that is the case then my previous comment still stands, a lot of the 8ight series parts are still shared between models. Ring gear for example. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392186328366?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=KIR0DmfYRw2&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=69dKqnslRM-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY LOSA3508 pinion LOSA3510 ring gear
  9. FYI came across this on my YT feed https://youtu.be/WthDmQyd2JA?si=1uLB97onY0QJv1gw
  10. At least this https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-combo-ezrun-max5-v3-esc-56113-800kv-motor-1-5th--440837 Or https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-ezrun-combo-max5-hv-g2-and-56118sd-800kv-g2-1351795 Second one can go up to 12s although if that was the case you might be better of with the 650kv version https://www.modelsport.co.uk/product/hobbywing-ezrun-combo-max5-hv-g2-and-56118sd-650kv-g2-1351794 Nothing personal against other brands but I like the Hobbywing stuff 😁
  11. Not saying it's not do-able but 1090kv is a bit on the small side for a 5ive. Seen/heard of them in FG brushless cars before but they are somewhat on the lighter side, the 5ive might be a bit on the large side for 1090kv.
  12. Added a few more bits back on after yesterdays delivery, rear anti roll bar and bumper now in place. Changed fixings to stainless steel using some i had left from the Baja build but need to order a few more. Emptied and refilled rear shocks and ordered slightly stiffer springs. Shock tower and rear uprights next when i get paid in a few days.
  13. Well they definitely set the ride height cause the issue is the screws being steel and the chassis being aluminium the screws chew up the chassis and it can alter the ride height somewhat.
  14. Rebuilt the back end of the Losi 5ive. Shock tower and rear uprights to come next, leaving the arms themselves plastic though so there is some "give" in there. Toying with the idea of using front shocks on the rear, the arms go down a long way with the rear shocks and you have to use the droop screws to set the ride height. Thinking if i used front shocks on the rear i might be able to do away with the droop screws altogether.
  15. Few bits for the Losi 5ive. Changed around what i ordered, Taylor RC rear diff case, Taylor RC rear brace, Taylor RC titanium hinge pins, Bonehead RC rear hinge pin holders and some grease.
  16. I found the easiest thing to do is to pre-tap the shock ends using a bolt of the right diameter. I have never understood how they expect you to tap the plastic end while trying to get it on a round shaft.
  17. When i looked on their website it looked to me like they didnt ship to the UK, obviously i was wrong.
  18. Probably your best bet as far as being in stock goes. https://rc-car-online.de/en/Technic-1-5-1-6/Tires-rims-adapter/Off-Road-Tires/24-mm-hex-wheel-drive-for-Losi-Arrma-HPI-and-Co./
  19. This thing continues to surprise me. Got the back end in bits and had the diff out, was going to buy a rebuild kit but it really doesn't need it, the oil inside was clear as well, used to opening diffs and finding a black gooey mess but not in this case. Ordered a Taylor RC rear diff case, shock tower, rear brace and diff oil to get me going. Thinking I might mock it up on the stock chassis and then when it is all done (less motor etc) will transfer it all to a Taylor RC chassis, still toying with maybe sticking with petrol and getting a big bore engine so working along those lines. If I do go brushless it will be 12s, hence me going a bit overkill with the rebuild ether way.
  20. Well the honeymoon period is already officially over 😂 Was up early this morning so......
  21. Well I am going to keep this body and most likely get one of the 30deg North flexible jobbies, I quite like not having the rear fenders on the stock body and the 30DN has very minimal rear fenders so......... Going to start with something cheap first and sort the shocks out, they are fine but the stock blue springs are weak, the previous owner wound the adjusters so low on the rears the springs were buckling.
  22. Can't get over how clean this is, almost feeling guilty at the thought of stripping it down. Tempted to keep it as it is and just use it but it would need a kill switch fitting at least as it currently doesn't have one and I just think it would end up being a waste of £s if I do go brushless eventually and with 3 other RCs to use in the mean time part of me says stick to the plan 😁 Everything else looks so small now!
  23. That was extra 😉 Doesn't fit in my car without the seats down and didn't want to leave it on view while i was still at work so bought it inside, easier than carrying it 😁
  24. Not the post man but had this dropped off to me at work 😊 Yet to have a proper look but the engine looks completely mint, I may have found one of the last Losi 5ives in original condition in existence! Even the controller looks unused.
