What is best for me??

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

Ok, so I'm new to the world of RC and am a little lost. I am keen on either a truggy or some kind of RC that is suitable mainly for offroad use. I have been looking at the E firestorm flux  and that really seems to be one that I go back to again and again. My problem is that I am a little unsure if i can purchase spares and upgrades from any shops near me? (Mansfield area) I am not to concerned about price as long as what I am getting is good for money. Maybe 500 as an initial cost. Doesnt really matter if 2we or 4we and also not to worried of scale, although 1/8th seems to be popular. So my questions are:

-best truggy or offroad rc along lines of e firestorm flux

-places around Mansfield area I can actually go to for spare parts/upgrades (failing any walk in stores, any reliable online stores)

-good quality product for the money I will part with

Thank you.

Danny

Hello and welcome.

What power source do you want electric, nitro or petrol?

1/8 buggys are a very good staring point, they are durable and headel well. For £500 you have a very good budget to get started.

If I was starting again this is what I'd go for...

Model-

Rtr, just add a battery and you'll be ready to go.

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/0/rc-car-products/400863 (part support shouldn't be a problem)

Batteries- http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__26801__Turnigy_5000mAh_4S1P_14_8v_20C_Hardcase_Pack_UK_Warehouse_.html I'd  get two or more, you will need to change the connectors over to what ever ones you want, I'd use these (http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__91717__Nylon_XT90_Connectors_Male_Female_5_pairs_Black_UK_Warehouse_.html) you'll need to solder new connectors on to it.

Charger- http://www.modelsport.co.uk/overlander-rc6-vsp-80watt-7a-output-ac-dc-charger/rc-car-products/379060

Lipo charge bag- http://www.modelsport.co.uk/fusion-lipo-battery-bag-charge-sack-23x30cm/rc-car-products/370389

Tools-

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/arrowmax-allen-wrench-set-1.5-2.0-2.5-and-3.0-x-120mm-4-pcs/rc-car-products/40245

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-4-way-glow-plug-wrench-large-/rc-car-products/364851

It comes to a little over £500 but you'll  have a good setup.

u will find most shops r useless:doh:..not all but most....most of us on here buy offline....:good:.so much easier/cheaper/less hassle tbh.....as most shops don't stock every part so they will only go order it off line anyway....when they eventually get round to it......then post it.....eventually....:good:...and yes the firestorm flux is probly the best beginner rc in the 1/10th scale bracket.....for ur budget u can pretty much have any 1/10th  or 1/8th rtr.....or 1/5th.....u jus need to decide what suits u best...pik sum then find u tube vids of them and see what they go like:good:welcome btw....;)....nitro can b a proper pitfa if u kow nothing about them and can put u off before u even start...if u can even start it that is...lol!!!.battery/lipo is the way forward for ur 1st rc imo.....or petrol....less finicky less tuning.....which ever u choose ur in the right place being on here...

Mansfield - As in Nottinghamshire?

Good look finding a decent Hobbyshop
The 2 one that did exsist
Elite RC - Closed down about 10 - 15 years ago and became a hair saloon
Ben Racing - Closed down about 10years ago ish, without any warning....

The Nearest place is sutton in ashfield - But tbh its more of a gun centre now vs car hobby shop

You could have spent a little less on the car but for part support your not gonna get much better than the losi and it's a very capable car. You might wanna add some Nadia block tires from Modelsport as they'll  be better off road, they'll make the car a little taller as well.

They're useless unless you re glue them, but other than that solid suggestions!
