Thanks so much! - Next up,

1996 Tamiya TGX - 4WD, Ford Fiesta WRC Shell. (Originally Honda Mugen NSX) + Futaba Megatech Radio Gear.

Given to me as a box of bits, almost everthing was still there, sourced the few missing parts needed cleaned up and rebuilt.

Finding a shell to fit wasn't so easy but in the end fouund this wrc one and was happy with the results!

Hi, Thankyou!

You're Right, the travel isn't too bad, and they are pretty soft but yeah even the old sandmaster's had longer shocks fitted and i think they pre-date this truck

Thanks for checking out my cars!

If anyone can help - Im having a problem with this car..... basically when moving forward all is well (wheels turn freely) but when a certain amount of lock is applied the front wheels become hard to turn or seem to stop completely...

Driveshafts are not popping out but seem close to end of drive cups when turning - I have had the driveshafts out to have a look they seem fine, front hex hubs and pins are fine, inner drive cups, front axle shafts and solid hub bearings have no excessive wear, only thing i can think of is those little sponge / rubber O ring driveshaft spacers may have deteriorated....

anyone else have this problem or know if its a common fault on the alphas?

i had this problem with my alpha ten when i first got it in the 90s. you need to space the front drive shafts so that they are pushed further into cup at the wheel end. I used a bit of fuel pipe and put it in the cup on the gearbox. never had a problem after that apart from it kept destroying the front gear box so i took the main shaft out and ran it as a 2wd.

Ive just started a thread about mine called project alpha!

i have spaced the shafts with fuel line as you suggested as far into the cup as i dare on the wheel end with the tinyest bit of slack.  greased them up -  and on full lock its way better but it still tightens up slightly, good news is it drives fine now so thanks for the advice.

i think its something to do with the drive cups on the wheel end also fitting poorly in the hub, because when you wiggle the wheels the drive cups seem to have too much slack around them on the driveshaft side of the wheel hub -  although they look okay im thinking possibly worn bearings in the hubs, if it goes back to being bad i will try changing those next :)

thanks again for the advice

Those Kyosho engines are amazing, run so well and so easy to tune. I used the have the pureten spider with the CLK GTR body on it

I run 2 pureten alphas a gx12 and gx15 engine cars, great cars make sure the servo is not over steering the car and as said shim driv shafts with fuel pipe or rubber shock I rings from a 1/8 car or buggy, also check shims in front diff housing as they can bind up with excess movement ;)
