Well, found stock for a Tekno 19t pinion (can't beat a 5mm grub screw), as well as a GDS 46t Spur (too wussy to go all the way to 20/46).

That is decently overgeared according to the X-Maxx gearing chart, so i potentially might end up with a Max5 combo anyway because i blew the motor up, but that's a reasonably cheap option for now. I'm itching for a new shell too, after almost 4 years of the same old it becomes a bit stale (and the indestructible bodies aren't particularly a looker in the first place).

Guns, was it you who ran the Proline basher armour thing? How's it holding up, not heard great things but "good enough" would do me. Them flimsy standard proline bodies probably aren't a great idea at the rate i'm ejecting the shell, won't last long - and while i did find a few "interesting" indestructible bodies (the Optimus Prime/Freightliner is kinda cute), they're all pretty janky.

Last picture of mine, bit tired of it tbh. Maybe a stock bumper as opposed to my Snap On bumper would make a difference, doubt it though.

We'll see, first performance, then we look at shells again. Though it's prolly going to be this one.

If only they weren't so janky.

its not the toughest one Proline do, I only bought it cause it was pre painted black to be fair. Ive not “bashed” it. Still looks new

You think it'll hold up to a few tumbles? I do like that shell mind, though not quite certain what it'd look like with the Snap On bumper.

Never had a white shell either, that's the tougher Proline one then. Hm.

Meh 😞

So another indestructible or the white Proline one.

Don't they make a white Widemaxx kit? Gotta look into that.

I believe Traxxas stopped making white stuff for some reason?

Really?

I'm currently juggling 300 tasks, but now i gotta check lol.

edit: you're right. Well there goes that idea then. Probably stained or something, looking manky after a few runs.

Dont think the Wide kit for the X was ever available in white however

Nevermind.

The Widemaxx kit for the Maxx comes in white - that's the one i saw ages ago, misremembered.

Ah well. We'll see, as i said it's not a priority for now - gotta make it run fun again first.

I have the m2c extended hexes and 24mm hexes here for in the future.I have read the traxxas wide kit is ment to bend the dog bones prity easily but the reason I went for the m2c parts is so I can run arrma 8s wheels and tyres in the future.

What you printed them with, Nylon or PETG?

edit: also, jesus christ, finally settled on a nice LiPo pack to replace my aged Rhinos after quite a long deliberation - of course they're nowhere in stock other than EuroRC which doesn't appear to serve the UK anymore. Literally nowhere, and wheelspin doesn't even have a date for re-stock since there's not a single one in the entire european stock-chain.

Just my luck.

I'll hunt a set down and if it's the last thing i'll do.

Mainly because they're big enough that even IF i eventually switch to a Max5/1100kv setup, they'll still provide a reasonable runtime - and on the stock system they'll last me 40 minutes or more.

I was a bit disappointed with my last 4s Gens Ace (admittedly not as good as the ones you’ve linked). Funnily enough theyre the ones Tomley wasnt impressed with in his XRT video (same set up as me). Might have been the weather tbh

I don't watch Tomley, so i wouldn't know - i'll do some research. Cold weather do be killing packs though, my X-Maxx doesn't even wheelie with cold Rhinos (6200 60C iirc). It's shocking how awful it runs with them cold.

I do have a second choice, these: https://wheelspinmodels.co.uk/i/345578/

But i hate resoldering (don't come in XT90), also i'd prefer something over 7500 at the very least. CNHL packs are all either not in stock or too big as well, i don't know anything about a company called "Centro" (they make a nice sounding 7600mah 100C pack, but no idea how good they are - bit on the cheap side at £85 for a hardcase). It's been a while since i had GensAce admittedly, but my neighbour runs them basic "bashing line" packs and they hold up/balance well.

.. having said all that, just ordered a new set of LiPos lol.

Will need to resolder the X-Maxx to QS8, as well as a set of charging leads, but.. i mean, QS8 really is the more apt connector for the X-Maxx, if you're keeping "going big" in the back of your head.

Price-wise, can't argue. Size wise neither, weight does suck a notch but alas. Can't have everything,

I  will have to get some new lipos for mine in the future.I still run my 6000mah 4s ludicrous lipos I have had for probably about 6 years. One cell is starting to drop faster than the others but say it hits lvc at 3.6v one cell would be 3.5v but soon catches up again once storage charging.

Just glad i'm sorted on that for now, finding LiPos is a pain in the neck every single time.

Just ordered some new solder too, first time trying 63/37 eutectic rather than me usual 60/40.  Can't really find Kester flux pens in the UK at a reasonable price (not gonna pay £30 for 10g), next thing to research.

Also, almost £10 per QS8 pair, christ.

Not sure what is it made from, but its hard - nonflexible. They also sell flexible ones, but i figured, that body doesnt like to bend that way 🙂

Also, check these shops, maybe they would deliver to UK:

How does Traxxas lipos compare to others? Not talking price, but overall characteristics?

Cheers, i thought you designed/printed it yourself, in which case i would've asked for the STL to potentially print one myself.

Can't really talk about them without taking price into account since they're vastly overpriced - but if you take price out of the picture, i think the best thing you could say about them is that they fit the battery tray. Everything else is awful about them for anyone who's charged "normal" batteries before. The ID system is reasonably idiotproof, so i suppose there's a certain niche for that kinda stuff - everyone else is better off with even  Amazon cheapies. They're 25C for cakes sake.
