'The Hulk' truck

Any recommendations for a CMS?

SSD looks nice and the kit includes panhard and steering links, kit appears to require servo facing with wires exiting forward which is annoying.

RC4WD also looks like a great kit, pictures show wiring exiting to the rear, but doesn't this all depend on the servo you have?

Apprciate suggestions.

Had another rethink, got a few parts delivered.

First part fitted in the new plan is a battery tray bracket.

Looking good where did you get that bracket like the idea of that keeping the weight low!?

Be careful with batteries mounted there. If you're running the shortest Axial wheelbase (Dingo 290mm/11.4" etc) then under suspension compression and full lock steering the tyre will hit the tray/battery.

At least it does on mine with standard 1.9 wheels/Trepadors.

Also, my wheelbase is a bit shorter and than the stated 290mm. Mine is sitting at around 275-280mm which does not help things.

I made the mistake of chopping the battery tray only to realise after my battery is the length of the tray - what a plonker lol

If it's a hardcase LiPo it won't damage it, the rubber will never make a hole in the case or anything and unless you're runningn concrete foams the impacts won't damage it either.

I guess if you want to go for the best weight/CoG ratio, running a 2,200mAh LiPo would be key.

Harley Designs on YouTube has a great video of how he mounted his LiPo next to his transmission.

I fancied something similar myself but as I already have a few 2s LiPos in 5,000mAh format, I decided not to do it.

If I happen to buy anything else that these LiPos will go in, then I might do it.

Although one of my Zippy's has had about 170 cycles so how long it's got left is anyones guess

Appreciate the word of warning.

A 1 inch gap at full lock and compression, the angle the battery sits is quite steep on this bracket.

Sorry Daymo and Derka, bracket is from Shapeways.

As are the next part of the plan.

Need to decide the arrangement for the receiver box and esc, I know it's not a massive issue but recommendations appreciated.

Decided on this arrangement of esc and receiver box

My only cause for concern is the motor wires pressing on the battery.  I know how hot the battery can get, what do you think?

Small update

SSD Rock shield front bumper

AFC18FAF-6AD2-4CA1-AD4E-E3B74F595006_zps

SSD narrow rock shield rear

E1149123-1E0F-4389-9C20-A074747291DF_zps

Decided to drop the body posts as low as possible, didn't need to cut the body at the front, rear and sides did.

Arches need cutting now, bit apprehensive. The rear arches don't actually need cutting but the fronts do and I think I'll have to do all 4 for it to look right?

Another purchase from Shapeways on its way then that's it til winter, no more pootleing round the garden, going to beat it up a bit.

Don't use any codes, just copy and paste the URL of the image and it will auto imbed.

So my last modification to the truck is done, I've purposely not upgraded any of the running gear until my driving has improved, less likely to break something being all flexible plastic I figured.

Anyway

The fit is good, I'm going to drill a couple of extra mount points on the fronts, rears are fine.

Word of warning, you can't drop the body to the bottom of the mount posts with the fronts fitted, it needs to be 3 holes up.    So the rears need to be raised or obviously it looks just wrong.  So if you've cut your body :rain: you're going to lose that perfect fit :crying: at least I hadn't cut the arches.
