  1. its getting there pal. nice to see the motor mount turned up, very rare those nowadays, i havent seen any for sale for years. the car will or should take pretty much anything you choose to power it. i wouldnt go stupid silly though. the shell looks great. heard good things about the l and l stuff. as for wheels. theres a few options. wider hexes if you have enough axle left to put huts on or easier is to get wider offset wheels but then you will have to find something which suits the car. there are some wheels out there which offer adjustable offsets. mst and tetsujin to mention a few. keep up the great work pal
  2. looking great pal. great progress. good luck finding the motor mount i never managed to find one for mine year ago. are you planning on using the dirt guard lexan cover? if i remember right the heatsink needs to be used if your using the dirt guard. due to cooling issues on the standard motor. the metal prop on this model im is standard as this type of chassis was the basis for the nitro powered tamiya cars. the diffs and drive train are real heavy duty compared to tt01 tt02 etc. keep up the great work . you make me wish id kept my tb01
  3. the d4 is a great starter chassis and has you have found there is oodles of upgrades out there..... although not all needed to get it to perform better. I still drift my trusty d4 although its had a plethera of hop up added. if bling is your thing then lots of shiny things too. also if you get bored of cs drifting then you can always mod to rwd and add a gyro and get go that route. but most of all enjoy it.
  4. drop me some sizes pal. and ill draw a 3d print up for you. im sure i can print a suitable solution up
  5. hey buddy i think im due for a check on what i have haha. i'll let you know what i have
  6. cant really add to what has already been said. the tt01/tt02 is a basic entry level RC car. its is 50 based. which sadly ive never seen run at a rc drift club. there is rarely any CS drifting now either it is mainly RWD. which is going to help you choose a chassis. personally i own the sakura D4 and MST RMXs2 and they both are decent in box form and much can be added and modded on them with upgraded parts and hops ups. The car is only going to be a small part of your spends. there is a lot of other pieces to the puzzle. the good thing is you can get a basic set up and upgrade or add to it over time. run it initially cheap until fund allow or soemthing needs upgrading. I will outline some rough costings below of the parts i run which are decent and not the cheapest but far from the most expensive either. car chassis 150 motor 40 ESC 70 servo 40 gyro 30 battery 25 radio tx and rx 80 quid ish for a base model sanwa (mine was 280) dont forgot charger there are many people about on FB such places as ASBO rc (dale clements) or as previously mentioned slide dynamics (ben houhkman or however it is spelt) and i dare say there are other online and local stores who can supply pieces to you too. i would suggest popping along to a drift night. i can imagine it being a big of track to some of the uk drift venues but it may save you monies on kit and chassi etc getting some questions and hands on time with people who already drift, im pretty sure if you get the bug then your pockets are going to have to be deep. ive seen top chassis for £1200 upwards the sky is the limit once you get hooked. either way enjoy your drift journey. whether it be hopup heaven or plastic fantastic. keep it sideways
  7. first on road car? and your going carbon........id have gone for something more widely available and maybe even cheaper. The only issue i can see as it does look like a nice designed car. that spares maybe an issue as there will only be hobbyking who carry spares. where as mentioned above a tamiya tt01 or tt02. spares will be all over. local hobby shops. online. ebay. fellow rc'ers. as well as lots of other manufacturers making spares and hop ups too.
  8. hiya pal. there are people who will say the yokomo YD2 is best and also others which love the MST RMXS2.0 just as much. its like saying 2wd or 4wd. all has there following. maybe best idea would be to get to your nearest drift track and have a chat with like minded people, watch and learn and see which takes your fancy. you may even drop on a bargain or someone may be able to offer additional info and advice.
  9. hey and welcome pal. enjoy your stay
  10. hi and welcome. not to far from me too. enjoy your stay
  11. the ftx are decent chassis though..... although im pretty sure the tamiya shell is smaller than the MST offering. just checked MST wheelbase os 242 mm and tamiy jimny shell is 225mm so there is a difference.
  12. id personally got the MST. i built one when they first came out and very nicely done.
  13. tis a decent price . showing at 189 at good old modelsport
  14. its nice to as already said. but its a shame they had to cut back on the SCX10.2 kit parts. such as gearbox, shocks. axle casings and such like. its what make the scx10.2 a worthy upgrade. also just seen the HPI offering of the chassis only idea. at least it seems some people are listening but it has been a while for it to materialise
  15. mines 3d printed as i have no woodworking skills at all lol. my placticard or styrene skills are barbar too lol gaz has some wicked skills he made my work bench for the scale garage.
  16. i've busy designing more scale stuffs. tadar a new jet wash
  17. ahh ok pal. i do get you it would grind me too. new cases are cheap but i always stay away from cheap cases as they usually tend to be flimsy and pretty noisy. i have yet to choose a new case as current is way too noisy and has serveral marks on it now from it being under the desk
  18. new case looks good......what happened to old one?
  19. they are surprisingly fun little cars haha.
