  1. Engine in the fiesta blew up tonight, hopefully I'll get all my money back cos it's under warranty. The serpentine belt shredded itself and I think it tangled up the timing belt.. kaboom

Gutted, i had the same with fiesta van mk4, but was a diesel, the Aux drive belt snapped and got sucked in the cam pulley, I was told them it was a common problem and that was about 15 years ago

    3. fnknan

      fnknan

@m4inbrain luckily that wouldn't be an issue cos I took it into the workshop to get it checked under warranty because of these issues and they said it was the AC compressor and that they'd call me to get it replaced. But they never called me back. I haven't had time to chase it up as I've been really busy with moving into a new place and working on my degree but it seems like they didn't diagnose it properly anyways.

    4. fnknan

      fnknan

@.AJ. I'm think that's the issue but I'm not 100% sure. I'm no mechanic and I don't wanna touch anything to investigate just cos they'll take any excuse to not have to pay out.

  2. Absolutely love my fiesta. Had it for a month now and it's fantastic. Only issue is I found a Volvo 360 for sale and it's immaculate. It's one of my dream cars and I'd love to own one. I'd be able to afford it if I sold the fiesta. I don't know what to do :(

Have to agree with @m4inbrain, you will be truly disappointed driving the Volvo, even of its time it really didn’t compare well to its competitors.

My first car was a Mk1 Fiesta Supersport, I know if I drove it today it would ruin the memory for me.

The whole point of rwd is that I want to be able to go and drift. Drifting is my favourite discipline of motorsport and it's had been since I was about 10. I really want to get more seat time because renting a car for drift days as I have done in the past is too expensive in the long run.

A car like the Volvo with its low power could really help me increase my skill as a drifter because of its low power, it's enough to get the tyres loose but you can only hold a prolonged drift if you know what you're doing. I'd love to learn that.

I couldn't really care less about modern car features as I never use them anyway. Obviously I understand the safety differences but in London, you're not often going more than 20mph so it's not as big of a concern.

Its on a 20t pinion atm and gets very hot on grass even on 4s so I could never run it for a long time on 6s. IMG_20200704_160721.thumb.jpg.5595be14724ab37db6fdee77f2a4c322.jpg

Yeah I drilled for agess and I accidentally drilled into the shaft. Tryna pry if off now.

What should I do about the medium sized hole in the shaft now?

Just put a longer grub screw in, less chance it will slip I guess. Can't imagine it will do too much harm.

I wanted to head out on the bike after getting a very early finish at work, but nope... Need to test my new Hero8 Black vlogging set up on my new helmet.

  6. Seems my turnigy accucell 6 can't charge batteries that have been in my truggy, but it'll charge everything else, and all the other chargers charge those batteries fine?

    Today has been rough lmao

    1. Jumper

      Jumper

i had a thing like this a while ago when all the electronics decided to break :( it sucks, but most of these chargers are pretty cheaply made so they dont last sometimes. batteries also under massive load as well, so they dont last forever.

I need to check it because one battery got discharged to 3.1v while the others were discharged to 3.5v so I'm gonna look over it.

Seems weird that my fake IMAX b6s have lasted longer than that lmao

  7. One of my lipos started puffed a bit after a crash, seems it creased slightly but straightened itself. Was very warm to the touch but is cooling down now.

Is it still safe to use? I really don't wanna buy another 4s lol.

Here is the scuffed up one next to a normal one.

@pieman5 the 3200 30c pack is the one I wanna run parallel because it can't supply enough. I already run the 4400 65c by itself and it's fine. I just had a bad landing with it and it puffed a bit.

@babylon i have seen a video of a chaps garage burnt down after a lipo went of and heard of another one that took out garage and part of the house

    4. babylon

      babylon

One of them videos has been doing the rounds since the beginning of time, You just won't find anything new out there. It's gonna happen to any type of battery at some time, Lipo's are no more or less dangerous as any other if not looked after, They all store energy.

  8. Anybody have any idea what this part is called? I don't wanna replace the entire diff just for this. It's for my slash 4x4

Typically it would be called an output cup, because it's putting out power from the drivetrain to the wheels, that doesn't always transfer to every brand though.

Download the PDF manual dude, you'll never be stuck again :)

  9. Turns out the Corsa is gonna be way too expensive to fix at this point so I'm gonna need a new motor.

Thinking of the fiesta Ecoboost zetec s.

Any thoughts on it or other potential buys?

you can ask you insurance company what is the least likely car to be stolen in your area. After all they dont want your car to be stolen so they dont have to pay you out and they will have lots of stats on it :)

    3. m4inbrain

      m4inbrain

Disklok and Brakelock will deter thieves, of course.

Admittedly, i'm too lazy to constantly faff around with locks when i just wanna run up town. A fiesta is quite fun to drive in the right circumstances, not sure that london traffic or motorway is one of them though. Indeed i'm pretty sure neither is.

    4. fnknan

      fnknan

Well I've just put down a deposit for a 1.6 zetec s fiesta because the insurance isn't much more and it was a lot cheaper than the Ecoboost that I was looking at with the same milage.

  10. Chipped a tooth off this metal pinion so I'm swapping it out for my spare nylon one 😬😬.

      fnknan

I've got a micro sct in pieces, but it has everything needed to run plus a whole extra cars worth of space parts. Only thing that needs doing is the motor wires to be soldered and the old pinion to be transferred to the new motor, which I have yet to figure out how to do. Probs will put it up for sale if I never figure it out.

  12. Been trying to take a break from RC to concentrate on my A-levels but the forum keeps sucking me back in lol. My trucks are looking at me with puppy eyes too cos I haven't taken them out for ages 😩😂

Do your best to stay focussed mate. Education always gives you the best chance in life.

I'm trying to figure out a way I can get back to school to get a few more qualifications, so make the most of it while you have the time to spare!

If you try to study too much you'll burn out imho so a brief break every so often is a good thing but don't get too distracted as @Paul Busby is right that "Education always gives you the best chance in life".

Study/work hard now whilst you're younger to get a good education followed by a good paying job so that you can work less when you're older and enjoy life more.

It really amazes me how strong that thing is. Thunder tiger really did a good job. This buggy is ancient and it still holds its own as a basher

  14. Can I connect an FPV camera on my truck directly to my reciever and just bypass the vtx? The camera came with a cable that would directly connect it to the reciever. So I'm wondering if I can use that instead so I can use the vtx for something else

Ah thanks. I was just wondering why it came with a cable like that. Either way it's all hooked up and works decently well which is good 👍

    3. Bajadre

      Bajadre

need the vtx part brudda unless you have a all in one cam/vtx etc the 6v is enough to power it but need the vtx for the signal display to send out etc

    4. fnknan

      fnknan

The vtx I'm running says it needs minimum 7v so I had to hook it up to a 2s lipo

  15. This one was kinda expensive to make 😂

    Feedback appreciated 😉👍

Honestly I am most likely not your age demographic that this video is aimed at so don't take what I say to much to heart just thought I would give you some feedback as you asked...

Overall I found it interesting to watch.

I'd have liked to have seen a bit more of the transformation taking place. E.g. Some of the wrenching you did to add the upgrade parts. Even if it was speeded up or just pictures transitioning.

I'm not a fan of your music choice sorry but everyone has different tastes when it comes to music so you can never please all of the people, ..tbf though it did kind of go well with what was happening at the time on screen but I just prefer to hear the motors of the RC's most of the time.

I also didn't like the slinging of parts onto your desk at the start of the video but that could just me being a bit of an old fart. 😂   😉

    2. fnknan

      fnknan

Thanks bro appreciated. I did film lots of wrenching, but when I looked over the footage it was pretty rubbish, too dark and grainy. I need a better lights setup ahaha.

I've got a wider taste in music so it's not gonna be all trap 😂. I think it matches RC stuff quite well 😉.  I'll take it all into consideration though 👍

You'll need to do some soldering, I'd research that first, it's nothing particularly hard, but not quite plug and play.

    3. Paul Busby

      Paul Busby

I’m using a modular PC one I had lying around. It’s 650w and totally silent unless I’m charging 2 6s batteries, even then the chargers themself are louder and the PSU just hums gently.

i didn’t modify the box either, so I can put it back in a PC if I need too.

Almost any PC/server PSU will do the job, a single 12v rail is preferable.

Should I just get 3 of the ones Babylon linked?

  17. Anyone got any cheap recommendations for driveshaft upgrades for a slash 4x4?. I'm worried mine are gonna buckle under 3s don't wanna shell out £70 for an MIP set.

    Will these be any better?

Fastrax and GPM are the same (in my experience at least). I bought a "fastrax" part, however when I took it out the packet it had "GPM" engraved onto it.

I would also say that the grade of metal, fit, and finish are pretty.... Chinese... but then this isnt a slash 4x4 driveshaft, its a tower brace... so YMMV.

    3. fnknan

      fnknan

If I have an issue then I might buy a pair of fastrax ones as they're not too expensive. But if I don't then there's no need 🤷🏻‍♂️

    4. monkeyboy_uk

      monkeyboy_uk

I tried the Fastrax ones and had issues. Don't use the grub screws that come with them. They are softer than butter and you'll strip the heads out just looking at them.

I went back to Traxxas stock ones and they have been fine.

  18. Had to reupload the video because it was kinda juttery.

Heres the new link, its a lot more watcheble

  19. Just uploaded my first RC video

Would appreciate if you guys checked it out. Just a quick 2 min video. Hopefully I can make driving footage now that i've made that mount  😅

Actually really enjoyed making that so definitely gonna have more videos lined up soon👍.

Would really appreciate any feedback so I can improve. Definitely gonna make sure that I'm filming in landscape for the whole thing next time😂

      Way better.

Like night and day, it's also less shaky due to higher fps. Now you just gotta remember not to use portrait mode, and maybe make the intention of the video a bit clearer. :D

edit: not less shaky, but less abrupt, if that makes sense.

    4. fnknan

      fnknan

Yeah ik exactly what you mean. The video was jittering on that low bitrate
