Sometimes you just have to get lucky.
Brand new kit, built to a decent standard (had axles and diffs apart, happy with it) - never had even wheels on, literally not a mark on it. Plus a Fusion Pro, paid £380. Now to figure out what to do with it. -
Sooo back in the day (early 2000s) GPM were known for aluminium upgrades that were rubbish…… to be fair I spent loads on it as bling bling was kind of “in” back then, and the quality wasnt that important However now, they seem to do things like toughened diff gears etc. Is their performance any good now?

Hmmm think I might have to try and get my hands on the losi promoto sm👀

Dream
I have been out of RC for a very long while as no place to run them. But the other night I had a dream that I had been collecting the early Tamiya cars and had the shelves up. As my alarm went off, I was thinking of what cars to buy. Then after a while I said to myself what am I doing, lol

I completely get you mate, to the point i showed my lad a Thunder Dragon on eBay, and in secret bought it for me for my birthday. Always wanted one from seeing them on the shelf of the then local hobby store back when i was a kid, i got the Madcap instead.
go for the ones that really matter to you mate, say top 3 all timers, that way you get something to look at and keeps a toe in the hobby.

It’s been one of those days where you just get beaten by any and everything 😔 woke up as normal got to the bottom of the stairs tripped over my shoes I left at the bottom the only time I have left then out then a little while later stubbed my toe going up the stairs then I went to put my new HW fusion pro in my crawler and realised I ordered the one for 1/8 scale by accident 😩
lesson learned always double check your basket before ordering

If anyone is interested in my Arrma outcast 8s send me a message before I post it on eBay as the sales section on here seems pretty slack now
-
Someone on here said to me (years back, mind) half the original purchase price for a used rc but then add onto that price depending on upgrades/extras/condition accordingly but knowing you and how you treat your rc then i would say £700 isnt a bad price.
That said though, there's a lot less people with that kind of money to spend at the moment, maybe a dozen or so folk on here would not have to worry about price i guess, but most now (myself included) just cant go a blow a good chunk of money on a indulgence, £700 for me would be split between the 3 kids for Christmas.
stick it up at the price you want for it but be prepared that you may have it for a while, but eventually someone will see it and buy it. All down to how desperate you need it gone?? Or if you can drum up the interest, you could part it out??

Yes sales are slow now, i remember when every day there were 3 pages of threads with new posts or new ads.
Got to agree on the inflated pricing though, i was offered a Losi pro-moto on eBay which was used and the steering wheel spring broken on the transmitter for £615, yes it had a couple of lipos but i was shocked!! But im finding i have to almost give stuff away now, well truth be told its been like this for a few years for me now, since i became a mod people just wont/dont want to buy from me, lol. Don’t get me wrong, id like to be in receipt of a couple of bargains but i never seem to find them……
i always offer here first, its a mark of respect for me, giving the forum members which ive been a part of for nearly (3 days off) 14 years first refusal so to speak, then if nothing it’s eBay or my lad does fb for me but we bother would not rather deal with (for the most part) clueless tools….
completely get what your saying though @mydoddy69

Hobby after leaving RC No place to run RC cars in my area so trying to find something to do in its place. Tried lego, but gave that up quick. A bit about my history, I have been messing with electronics my whole life and im good at woodwork & metal fabrication. Just like working with my hands. I was also offered a place at art collage when it really meant something.
-
With wood working, do you need any garden furniture?? Bird feeders etc. could use the metal fab on that too.
trail walking, do you fancy a wonder around some of the spots near you, helps clear the mind (it would be top of my wish list if my health was good.
just a quick example, my daughter was throwing out some water/led portable speakers, battery didn’t last long and weren’t powerful enough for her horrid music. So i cut them down did a littl rewire and now it’s a singular little speaker now that works quite well. Passed on a few hours sorting/designing it.
maybe something weird like that if you need to keep your hands busy.
if money isnt too much a issue, how about a classic car that needs (the amount is purely your call) some restoration, once done sell it and keep going until you end up with a free car you desire, another thing i dabbled in back in the day. Back then a £50 scrapper would turn into a £500 cheap run around with a years M.o.t and a service included.
hope the rc bug comes back at some point though mate.

New Traxxas Mini Maxx looks to be a blast

Well after posting a picture of my tinyhawk freestyle yesterday, this happened....
Completely my fault. I changed the connector to a xt30 to run a single 2s lipo instead of two 1s lipos.
I should of made the pigtail shorter.
I looped the battery strap around the battery wires and connector and the battery must have come lose.
I looked for it before it went dark but couldn't find it.
I was gutted, only done about 6 batteries.
I watched the crash over and over trying to work out where it landed.
I noticed it landed / bounced off a pitched slate roof which narrowed it down, all the other roofs are asbestos.
Got up early, and found the quad, a bit wet, visually looks like very little damage. All the props look good.
This is were I've been really lucky, the battery wasn't attached but was only two feet away.
The electronics could be dead as they spent a night outside in the damp weather.
But, hopefully after a few days drying out there's a chance it may be OK 🫰.

EBay have dropped private seller fees it seems. Not sure if it’ll save them but it’s good for those who do sell

I win idiot of the week!!
Don't put painted rc bits in the air fryer to dry... Very low heat but doesn't end well 😢

Does anyone remember the “Teddy bear” alloy wheels made by Ronal??
i have a set of plastic ones to suit the Tamiya M class tyres, all four are mint too.
how much does anyone think they are worth?? I’ve only ever seen 2 sets in the time ive been into rc, the set i have and the other set the guy whom i got them from.
any help welcomed, thank you.
-
@53HRA have you any idea of value mate??
not had chance to do any research on them…

Im hearing a few new Traxxas releases coming soon including and Electric Jato 4x4 (no idea why its not called a Bandit 4x4) and a 1/16th Scale XMaxx/Maxx 🤔🤔
-
Yep, exactly @bertberr. I dont agree with their morals and how they operate, but they know how to market rc and they have produced some absolute belters over the years.
to be fair these days, i think you have to spend a lot more carefully, whatever you buy. There is always going to be businesses that aren’t 100% morally correct but as long as there is demand, they survive.
quite shocking how civilisation has changed over the past 20 odd years….
anyhoo, ive hijacked this thread enough lol….sorry.

To each his own, are you happy with your rc?? I’m happy with mine, so all good yeah??
that could also be applied to your micro crawlers, how do they fair against your brown F150??
Being roughly half the price (mods aside).
finally for me, the parts back-up, third party manufacturers are one of the most important factors when buying a rc, thats just my thing, doesnt mean other stuff gets overlooked just a bit more thought about.
ive wasted far too much money on rc, more than i would ever like to admit anyway….

^^^^^this, are they going to be around for that amount of time, yes you can spend a fortune on one rig but then thats it, dont have to spend anymore, for example, i bought a brushed Stampede 4x4 and built it from the ground up with nothing but the Traxxas, Pro-line, Mip, rpm and Hobbywing. But having had it for almost 8 years, it’s still never broken, only real parts to replace are tyres and bodies but that wear and tear items. If it did break parts are still readily available. It cost me near enough £800 but at £100 a year, thats really not bad, yes other stuff has come along and probably better but usually these are a flash in the pan and they are gone, then the parts become a issue…..
remember the Ansmann Mad Rat?? Was a beautifully balanced 2wd roller for £49, i had a Associated b4 i raced with and believe me they couldn’t be split on track, then Ansmann passed and left a lot of people with cars that didn’t have any parts back-up much like the rest of the range, they were budget rc and weren’t the worst, try finding parts now.
Helion rc were another big thing a few years back, they have vanished too which was a real shame as they were very good rc.
for me money is a big factor, i dont have much spare for the hobby like i once did, it kind of has to fund itself selling off stuff ive bought as back-up or projects ive never started so when i decide to buy a rc, the initial amount of money might be high but over a amount of years becomes a much more reasonable prospect, i dont have rc gave to me (with the exception of 1 which i still have).
No wanting to cause any offence at all but as soon as the T@*$+%s word is mentioned, you can smell the smoke of the torches being lit. Also been looking at smaller scale buggy, just for my garden use, 10th scale would be far too big, i do have my eye on the ftx tracer, probably 3 other different names too, or something that size, the Grom was appealing until ive read your post and that brought back memories of a aroma outcast 4s that was utterly carp!!
rc is different experience for each and everyone of us, what keeps the old ball spinning

Do you think the mjx will have the parts back up and third party manufacturers making bits for the next 5-10 years???
anything Traxxas will and of course soldering irons are available
the mini E-revo and Summit were selling at £299 last time i looked on Modelsport, so yeah £329 will be about right.
Not for me though, i have the big’un here and it’s only been used once, never tested the Max6 or the Srt servo. I am in the micro crawler scene though were Traxxas dominate.
Still no news on a Traxxas Trx8m then???

It has taken me a week to actually type this as it has been quite painful and once its said aloud it makes it all the more real i suppose, last sunday we lost our poor little kitty jinxy, he was sitting on Elaine purring away very happily and then he juddered and then went limp, our poor wee boy gone
