Nice progress you're making there. Very interested to hear what you think of it, as I have a Tomahawk waiting to be built, and not yet decided on motor / esc. Yours should move very well on a 15T.

Facebook MP does make me chuckle. Used Maverick Quantum MT Brushed - £250.... (new £150 from MS)... Let me think about that for a second???!!! Have to hand it to them though, I just wouldn't have the neck to even try.

Some bits for the Maxx, sourced through a LHS which I hadn't visited before. They are more known for their static / scale / balsa kits etc, but have recently taken on Traxxas. Went in during my lunch break this last Monday, ordered the bits, got a phone call Wed to say they were in. Picked them up today and think it cost about a quid more at most than the big online only stores like MS, WS etc, but without the 4 quid postage of course, and supporting your LHS in the process. Very happy with their service, and whilst in there, noted that they had a massive range of paints inc. Tamiya - all the PS & TS range, loads of Tamiya tapes / tools etc, loads of useful little bags of hardware , specialist fabrication tools etc etc 😊

What is it with FB Marketplace? Just seen some joker asking £530 for an old Traxxas Nitro Stampede including various bits of tat with no real value. And the amount of times you see tired / abused stuff listed at or very close to the new price staggers me. Particularly when its also in stock at MS / WS... 🤔🤪

Ordered a Max8 from Appliance Elec', as none in stock at WS. Think I may have snagged one of the last units as they're now showing discontinued on HW's main site. Wonder if this original Max8 may become the new 1/8 Quicrun at some point?

Had a quick nosey at the 'new' FTX 4WD MT over on CML website. Have to say, a lot of parts look, how shall I say it, 'sparingly' made. They certainly won't be accused of using too much material... And this pic is a little worrying too... look at the spacing between some of those (phillips) screw heads. Hmmm, as a light, mostly ground level basher this could work, but seeing as many peeps these days expects their rig to lawn dart from 20 ft with no damage, I don't hold out too much hope for the little Ramraider. And a RRP of £280 seems a little optimistic, even if it hits the shops at 250. I may be totally wrong of course, and it could turn out to be similarly tough as the car that's its shamelessly modeled on, time will tell...

If I had the V2 Maxx I'd prob get the Max8 G2, but hey ho, original Max8 it is.

Looking for some views on this. Apart from about 30 quid and about 60g, would there be any other noticeable disadvantages to running a more powerful ESC such as a Max6 over a Max8? Such as only running 4S (sometimes 3S) on what is an 8S capable ESC? I know the Max8 would do the job, but obviously a Max6 would give me further options in the future and is no bigger than the mahoosive VXL-4S that's currently in there. Talking about the older sensorless Max8, not the newer G2 - that wouldn't fit with the location of the sensor wire, unfortunately. Would be in a Maxx V1, running stock motor on 4S mainly (no 6S). Thoughts?

Think I've ruled out the new G2 version of the Max8, shame really as it looks a great ESC, but whatever way I would mount it in a V1 Maxx, the sensor cable would be an issue. So, may even look at Max6, as its actually no bigger footprint wise than the VXL-4S that the Maxx comes with, though prob a bit OTT in reality for a (heavy) 1/10 size rig. However, I would be future proofing to a certain extent. Or just grab the original Max8 whilst they are still available, hmmm.... decisions?

Found the problem... luckily not an expensive one! Thought I'd lock-tighted all the outdrive screw pins, obviously not... Bulkhead will clean up a bit and survive until I do a full winter teardown, when I'll replace it plus a few other plastics, and possibly rit dye the chassis and shock towers.

Nice build dude, body looks tidy enough to me? Just my opinion obviously, but I think the 2.0 stock wheels look much better, more in keeping size wise with the buggy itself. Keep the 2.2 JC's for running and the 2.0's for shelf duty?
