    Waterproof Receiver Box

    Waterproof Receiver Box

The Rustler’s innovative waterproof receiver box allows easy access to the receiver. The antenna and servo wires route neatly through a patented watertight seal to protect the receiver from water. No matter what the weather, Rustler 4X4 is ready for action!

    5-Channel Receiver with Failsafe

    5-Channel Receiver with Failsafe

The TQi 2.4GHz receiver stores up to thirty Traxxas Link enabled transmitters in memory. Integrated telemetry ports allow real-time data to transmit from your Traxxas model to the TQi transmitter. In the event of signal loss, the receiver automatically returns the throttle to neutral and holds the last steering position.

New Talon EXT 2.8” Tires and Black Chrome Wheels

New Talon EXT 2.8” Tires and Black Chrome Wheels

The Rustler’s large 2.8” black chrome wheels provide terrain-conquering ground clearance and a commanding presence. Talon EXT tires have a square-shouldered, aggressive tread design to dig into gravel, dirt, and grass for incredible 4X4 traction and huge roost.

    Ultra Shocks

    Ultra Shocks

Oil-filled Ultra Shocks utilize dual X-ring technology for a perfect seal and silky-smooth performance. The large oil capacity and rugged design soaks up big jumps and off-road abuse for smooth driving performance. They are easy to tune with a wide range of available oils, springs, and pistons.

    Single Screw Motor Access

    Single Screw Motor Access

Rustler 4X4’s innovative motor mount holds the Velineon 3500 motor securely in place and yet releases instantly with just one screw. Gear-mesh adjustments are fast and easy.

    Digital High-Torque Waterproof Steering Servo

    Digital High-Torque Waterproof Steering Servo

The Rustler 4X4’s extreme speed and quick reflexes require a steering servo that’s both strong and fast. The included digital high-speed, high-torque servo features ball bearings for precise control and quick reflexes. Read More

    Revo-Spec Oil-Filled Differentials

    Revo-Spec Oil-Filled Differentials

Rustler 4X4 VXL’s heavy-duty front and rear oil-filled differentials utilize steel-gear internals for maximum durability. Silicone gaskets and X-ring seals allow you to tune the amount of locking action by varying the viscosity of the fluid inside the differentials.

    New Front and Rear Bumpers

    New Front and Rear Bumpers

Tough reinforced bumpers protect the chassis against impacts. The specially designed front bumper provides a high approach angle that allows the Rustler to climb up and over obstacles with ease. The rear bumper mounts a perfectly positioned wheelie bar to help prevent the Rustler 4X4 VXL from back-flipping from its explosive power.

    Heavy-Duty Composite Arms

    Heavy-Duty Composite Arms

All-new heavy-duty suspension arms are stronger than ever before. Molded from a tough new composite material, the arms stand up to even the most punishing drivers and resist breakage for non-stop fun behind the wheel.

    Extruded Aluminum Driveshaft

    Extruded Aluminum Driveshaft

A one-piece extruded aluminum driveshaft is both strong and lightweight. Internal splines fit directly onto the input shafts of the front and rear drive assemblies. All together, this shaft runs straight and true for ultra-smooth driveline operation.

    Progressive Rate Springs

    Progressive Rate Springs

Progressive rate springs are lighter through the initial range of travel to maintain traction and composure over small ruts and bumps. Hit the big jumps and the springs tighten up to prevent bottoming the chassis at the extreme ranges of the suspension travel.

    Extreme Heavy-Duty Driveshafts

    Extreme Heavy-Duty Driveshafts

Rustler 4X4’s extreme heavy-duty driveshafts are modeled after the legendary Slash 4X4, but are beefed up in critical areas for even more outrageous power handling. The larger diameter half shafts offer the same articulation and suspension travel, but are rated for even more tire-shredding torque.

Optimum-Geometry Steering with Integrated Servo Saver

Optimum-Geometry Steering with Integrated Servo Saver

A dual-bellcrank design pivots on rubber-sealed ball bearings for smooth action in the harshest conditions. The integrated cam-type servo saver protects the servo gears from crash impacts without sacrificing steering precision.

    Heavy-Duty 32-Pitch Gears

    Heavy-Duty 32-Pitch Gears

Designed from the start to handle big brushless horsepower, Rustler’s 4X4 driveline uses a rugged spur gear with large 0.8 module/32-pitch teeth for reliability no matter how much power you pour on.

    Heavy-Duty 4mm Turnbuckles

    Heavy-Duty 4mm Turnbuckles

Rustler 4X4 uses the same heavy-duty steel 4mm turnbuckles developed for the Slash 4X4. Broad flat sections make toe and camber adjustments easy with the included wrench. The fully captured rod ends take a beating and won't pop apart during rigorous off-road pounding.

    New Prographix Body

    New Prographix Body

Rustler’s aggressive ProGraphix body comes trimmed and pre-painted with the decals already applied. Tough internal reinforcements maintain the body’s integrity while roof skids provide rollover protection to keep the body looking fresh.

    Functional Rear Wing

    Functional Rear Wing

The functional rear wing reduces drag while still providing valuable downforce for high speed stability. The wing mounts directly to the internal body reinforcements for lasting durability.

    Secure Body Latch

    Secure Body Latch

Rustler’s clipless ProGraphix® body mounts on specially designed shock towers. The easy-to-use latch unlocks instantly with the quick swipe of a thumb and locks again with a noticeable detent to let you know it’s securely fastened.

    Improved Battery Hold-Down

    Improved Battery Hold-Down

The Rustler’s innovative battery hold down accommodates traditional flat battery packs as well as “hump” packs. A beefed up latch provides solid locking action to keep batteries secure no matter how wild the action gets.

    Rubber-Sealed Ball Bearings

    Rubber-Sealed Ball Bearings

Maximizing speed requires as little friction as possible. Rustler 4X4 rides on precision rubber-sealed bearings for super low-friction performance and maximum protection in dusty environments. They are used throughout the truck and are virtually maintenance free.

    Wheelie Bar

    Wheelie Bar

A wheelie bar is an absolute necessity on a vehicle with the power and speed potential of the Rustler 4X4 VXL. The reinforced wheelie bar provides additional impact resistance for the bumper and also protects the wing during 100-foot wheelies.

Gotta be the first Traxxas model that I've thought "Hmmm, that's quite nice"

It is nice. Shame the video shows the wheelie bar being useless, the wing did a better job. ?

Will keep an eye on that one.

The diffs shouldn't be an issue because they're the same diffs in the Maxx and Revo, plus the Slash 4x4, that's a positive.

    I found a positive! Do I win a prize?

Doesn't look bad actually, made chassis whole 20mm longer though lol. Never given a rustler a second look before now. Still going to be stupid expensive though.

Don't care, Im going to get hate, this is the most excited Ive been for a model for a while. I adore the Rustler. Ive had at least 8 including the kit one with clear shell and MSC!

Ive told Mrs Guns that she should let Santa Claus know that this is what Id like. I have 3x 3S Lipos with TRX Connectors I bought for the E-Revo 2 I never bought. They will be perfect for this

I just need a when and how much. Im guessing £449? Any ideas

It's going to cost a small fortune though ?

US rrp at $399 isnt too bad IMO. Lets see how that translates in the UK

Id probably be in for that. IF It was out today Id have ordered it already, but now im looking at the PMT 4x4, don't think I can stretch to an MT410 and not sure how that'd be on 3S?

So......they took the Slash 4x4 and turned it into a Rustler.

About time, since they already did that for the Stampede. The 2WD chassis were all basically the same, and now ther eare 4x4 versions of each.

    OK. I get it.

Price £450......sorry...I just fell off my chair laughing.

Im hoping for £399. But we will see. The competition seem to all bring something much better, but its either hard to get in the UK (PMT/Arrma) or alot more expensive (MT410), so the price actually isnt an issue as unless Im missing something, theres nothing thats sensibly like it?

Says Revo diffs, not erevo 2. Weren't the original Revo diffs absolutely terrible?

Dunno why people slag off something like the Losi Tenacity then jump all over this, both are over priced plastic. Note it still has plastic bodied shocks that you can buy 8 of for 20 quid.

Those V1 diffs were, and still are, a disaster in the ERBE and EMBE, but in the smaller Slash size cars they are fine.

This will come with plastic CVDs, yet another fail.

I just can't see how they can justify what the do charge for something liek this. It has zero R&D in it, zero tooling costs, and simply requires someone in Traxxas to go pick a few bits off it's existing production lines and bolt them together.

In terms of models, market supply and support....it's an excellent plan.

It should also allow them to bring models like this to market for a very low price. But they don't

It's worth no more than two hundred quid, but the yanks will lap it up, after market companies will be all over it, then get sued.

Because owning a Losi Tenacity means you have to deal with Horizon who are cancer to the UK market.

The Rustler will be overpriced. But ill be able to walk into my LHS, buy it along with every spare part Ill ever need. Thats worth the majority of the investment to me. There are FAR better products out there than the Traxxas equivilant, but they’re distribution, popularity, customer service (well, in the US, used to be great in the UK before too) etc aren’t IMO matched by anyone anymore?

    Exactly.

How much better would the RC market be if that was what they did? ( except the law-suit bit ) How many more NEW Traxxas kits would be under the tree this December 25th?

I have never owned a new Traxxas kit. I don't have a local model shop/Hobby store any more. 10 years back, I had three in 10 minutes drive. None of them stocked Traxxas spares anyway. I also cannot justify spending more than a weeks wages on toy car.

Surely youre baja 29cc cost more than a weeks wages if this is out your justifiable price? I do agree though, I look at what Ive spent on RC over the years, and I know its easy to say now, but I couldve put a Deposit on two houses or bought a rather tasty 1:1 motor?

    Gaz...it should be fine.

I mean....nothing on the car is actually new, and all the components are tried and tested. There is nothing wrong with the car itself.

I do have an issue with the way theyu do business, as derivative and evolution models with no actual innovation should not be priced as high as they do, whilst tehy simultaneously use the legal system to prevent others moving in. Long term....that cannot be good for the hobby as it just ensures innovation never makes it to market. Others like the product enough to see past that.

Personally...I have no issue with Horizon Hobby as I have never suffered directly from their activities.

On another personal note...I wish those who love to use the term 'cancer' in relation to something like this would consider what it actually means. I live with a partner who has been fighting that disease for 5 years....and the effect it has on families in no way compares to how any company does business.

edit: Nope Baja cost me £250 as a very used wreck.
