  3. Had my Capra out again recently with a fair few changes made since last time out. It now has a 13t Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport motor, 11t pinion, Vitavon front portal covers, Pitbull Rock Beast XLs mounted on Chanquish wheels and some front and rear lights 😁 The motor is a little too fast really even with the reduced pinion size but tearing around when not crawling is fun tbh. Was going to install a 35t Torquemaster Expert but found it wasn’t the smoothest on startup thanks to the Capra’s high gearing, that motor will find a home in mine or the boys Enduro so no problem there 👍🏻 Chanquish wheels are fantastic quality for the price and look great to my eyes, the Rock Beast XLs hooked up great even on wet sandstone and the included dual stage foams are pretty decent too. The rig itself continues to impress and pulled some lines my boys modified Enduro couldn’t keep up with, although the extra width of the axles did mean he could squeeze a few places I couldn’t 😂 The spot we went to deserves a mention which is in Tunbridge Wells. It’s called wellington rocks and is some of the most challenging terrain I’ve come across in Sussex and Surrey, it’s the sort of stuff the Capra is made for. Even once we started losing daylight it still made for some cracking photo ops especially with all our lights installed. Cant wait to head back there hopefully in drier conditions where I reckon some even tougher lines will be doable! Ive got a few more bits incoming for the Capra with Brass Vitavon 3rd Members for both axles, a PowerHD dig servo and Boom Racing overdrive ring and pinion for the front axle courtesy of @faffy123. Will share feedback on all the changes once installed and run. For now here’s a few more bonus pictures, really wished I had a better camera on me!

  4. Christmas has now been and gone and Santa left my boy a spanking new RC car in his stocking. After much deliberation ended up ordering the FTX Comet buggy version. Final nails in the coffin for the Hurrican were: the standard tyres were quite hard, resulting in poor grip & the shocks weren't oil filled. So I figured that the FTX was at least hobby grade, with many spares available and upgradable in the future if required. Oh, also my boy had written his letter to santa and asked for an RC with a 'big bumper' - he meant spoiler 😝 so the FTX fit that perfectly. Glad I did, he loves it. My fears about it being too fast were squashed straight away, it's perfect for him. First run out was on grass, which obviously slowed it a little compared to gravel or tarmac. He's only had a couple or three runs out with it yet. We've been away so not had the oportunity. But each time he does his handling of it improves. Thanks to everyone who provided input

  6. Up for sale is my ProLine PRO-MT 4x4 roller. In very good, used condition it hasn't had a whole lot of use due to me getting more into race buggies and crawlers. It has the upgraded alloy shock caps and upgraded alloy servo saver arm which is essential to reliable running! The shell is in good condition with no cracks or splits, however the Tamiya fluorescent green paint I used seems to be peeling away from the shell in places - i've added a photo of the worst bit below. You'll need your own TX/RX, servo, motor and ESC. Looking for £225 posted including PayPal fees

  10. Thanks I won't go into anything blind. I don't want to waste money or just do what some do and throw thousands just to have the best of the best and then have no idea what I'm doing

  11. @TrinityUTT I think it's sensible of you that you're researching as much as possible and I think you've a good head on your shoulders. 😉 Whether you decide to use Lipo batteries at first or not I think you'll really enjoy your learning experiences with RC. Also even if you do decide to start with NiMH batteries you can still use a brushless motor/ESC combo which means that when you're ready you can step up to the extra power punch of a Lipo battery when you're ready without changing motors or your ESC.

  14. Sounds good man. People exaggerate about how dangerous lipos are. It's like with an plane, if it crashes it's really dangerous but if it's all under control it's super safe. As long as you're sensible and watch them while they're charging then you shouldn't have any issues. Get one of these to charge them in so in the unlikely case they do catch fire, you can quickly disconnect it and throw it outside without burning yourself https://hobbyking.com/en_us/fire-retardant-lipo-battery-bag-190x60x82mm.html Lipos are definitely worth the extra care they need.

  16. That sounds like the perfect advise. I like the look of that build you're own kit and will probably grab one and as you said buy the other parts 2nd hand. The FTX model keeps catching my eye each time I go looking. At this rate I'll end up with the FTX and get the kit as a side hobby. I'm going to go to MK centre on Saturday to watch the racing. Which will be great to watch. Thanks for being wo welcoming Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

  19. I bought the Hobao vs kit with max8 savox servo & flysky GT5 + a few more bits with 10% off eBay. In fact we’re building another for my lad to use. The Hobao VSE 100amp is a fine buggy parts readily available it also shares a few bits with its older brothers. For £325 + lipos not bad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. Yes mate, https://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=Universal_Fit_Motor_Mount_-_HPI_Savage_Flux Is what i used when i originally converted mine. Doesnt seem to have that in stock, i DO have that one sitting somewhere, doing nothing if you maybe wanted to purchase it, but... I strongly recommend the centre diff conversion from alza racing. I have since added that to my truck, and its a much stronger more elegant solution. Does mean you need to buy a diff, change gearing and also its quite a lot more expensive but you need to factor in "bulletproofing" the transmission which basically means buying the steel gears from the flux transmission to add; which i also have somewhere. Link to alza site; https://shop.alza-racing.com/en/ If you go this route then make sure you buy the correct stuff because he has several different sets for sale for the different savage trucks. The table photo shows the centre diff mount, The other photo with all the tools shows the truck with the rc monster mount. It uses a castle 1717, which both mounts will fit but as that motor is huge its difficult and the 2200kv fits much better. It is possible you could make one yourself, some 8mm aluminium plate, a tap and die set, a hacksaw, and a set of files will see you right. I have considered doing this for my brushless baja conversion, but bought a mount instead because i am too lazy. Good luck mate, let us know what you decide to do, They are super fun trucks as brushless conversions
