  1. Welcome to my Konghead build. I've had a love of all things Tamiya since my folks bought me and my Brother a Boomerang each in 1988/9. Ever since then I've built a dozen or so kits. Some I still have and others I've (regrettably) sold. Having been into comp crawlers and scale trucks for the last several years I've recently, once again turned my attention to Tamiya. I'm part way through a TT-02 Type S Rally Car (build thread coming), have a DT-03 ready and waiting to start, but first, the Konghead caught my eye. So, here goes. A word of warning though... I like to take a lot of pics during a build! I treated myself to a few upgrades while I was waiting for the kit to arrive. I'm not a fan of the chrome wheels (especially for the paint job I'm thinking about), so opted for these yellow ones from JK-RC instead. Added some Schumacher truck foams that I've used in my Lunch Boxes. Thought I'd get the shocks out of the way before starting the kit. I absolutely love building Tamiya shocks. They are definitely some of the best. That's where I'm up to for now. Thanks for taking a look.

  2. Got my Axial Capra all together over the last few evenings. Went together very well and is a decent quality kit bar the couple of obvious mistakes in the manual. The quality of the plastics has greatly improved thankfully as Axials last few offerings haven't exactly been great. Running a brushed combo for now but will be upgrading to brushless fairly soon. Looking forward to getting it out on the rocks.

  5. Im selling my sons Xmaxx 8s, it doesn't really get used too much as it is too powerful for him. It is in very good condition. It has an indestructible shell (The ones from Russia that cost over £100), as well as coming with it's original shell, but that has some damage. It comes with 2 x Traxxas 6700mah 4 cell batteiries that have been well maintained and always kept in storage mode. Also comes with a Traxxas EZ-Peak Live charger. The transmitter also has a Traxxas link Bluetooth module in it. The truck has mainly been used at 25% power, this is adjustable via the Traxxas link module via an app on your phone. The buyer will have to collect from the Basingstoke area (RG25), that way they can also see the great condition this truck is in. I am looking for around £850 I have also now put this on Ebay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153702956249

  11. Oh no, dont get me wrong. Im Finnish, not sassy. But english is my third language, so i can express my self a little wrong at times. I have my own lipos stored in a money-box, but i am getting another for charging purposes.

  12. Having a minor problem with the 5ive tonight that I was trying to sort out. First thing I needed to do was drain the fuel, but couldn't find the trusty old funnel. So I took a chance and tried the spout from the fuel can. Much to my surprise it fits. Just love how somethings just work out.

  13. I have thought about this as well, never did go through with it because the pump is minimum delivery which exceeded the 5ive fuel tank and my real car is a diesel. Would be worth a laugh though seeing someone wheel a 5th scaler into a petrol station and filling up.😎

  15. I use long ones plus "long cabled" balance boards, charger sitting on top of the box. Drilling holes kinda defeats the purpose, but if you have a concrete corner in the garage where nothing is flammable, that'd work as well. I think a drilled hole would turn this into a flame thrower for a brief second or five, since the flame/pressure is nozzled out.

  16. Too slow mate. That said, i'd just go for a 12.7/50cal box. Slightly wider, so easier to charge multiple batteries. In more narrow boxes, you might need to stack to charge.

  17. I had a go at this a while back. Turning a 40lbs car upside down and wiggling it about to get that last bit out is a bit of a workout. I got the bottle stuck on the end of the pipe though.

  18. Most on sale are 5.56 and 7.62 200 round tins. I picked up a Swedish mess tin several years ago at a military show which also does the trick. They are actually pretty good for lots of things if brand new as they come with a rubber seal. Perfect for keeping something dry and clean over the winter. Either way, if keeping batteries in them, drill a hole in them at it will stop them becoming a bomb. There's always ones on sale on eBay.

  19. Make sure to drill holes in the lid or remove the seal. A sealed ammo box and a lipo fire is basically a bomb.

  20. Out of pure curiosity, what caliber ammo boxes (if perhaps if were being less interesting, how big are the boxes) does everyone have, and how many batteries do you put in them? Is it better to have lots of fairly small boxes if you have lots of batteries? Quick look on Google seems to suggest you can get boxes used for Mortars 😁

  23. Yes, we all (even the house owner) knows who to blame. No, the battery was not in a bag because nothing ever happened before. And yes, he had been warned several times about charging etc. This was just a reminder that sometimes **** can really hit the fan. Of course not to perfect people, just the rest..

  26. As already mentioned, it really sucks for that guy, but in the end, he's to blame. We all know what a LiPo does, and judging by the amount of RCs he lost, he's not new to LiPos either. I charge my lipos in fireproof bags inside an old metal ammo crate in the garage, and monitor them via wifi camera (the camera is actually for my 3d printer, but i use it for that too). All it takes is one day of "ah, don't bother, it'll be fine" to lose all your stuff, not taking chances there. edit: lol, looks like everyone here has an old ammo crate, interesting.

  27. But what's even worse is if someone that's not me soldered the wrong side of the male deans connector directly to the motor. Glad that's not me tho
