When I first started working on sites many years ago I saw the hod carriers stood around most of the day, then they all used to knock off at 3, and still earn very good money. That's for me I thought so said to my Dad who I worked with that I wanted to try it so he got one of the brickies to load me up a hod, matey said " carry that up the ladder and you have a job". Needless to say it ended with tears of laughter from everyone watching and me staggering around at the bottom of the ladder with the hod barely a inch off the floor!2 points

I think of myself as more of a "Howling mad" Murdoch! On which note, I bodged a connection on to a new 2s pack to fit in to the Losi. Those wheels have never spun so fast!!!!!!!!!!!1 point

I fit killswithes to my large scale not somuch for the safety of other people or myself because the field I use very rarely has anybody else on it at the same time as me. The reason why I use a killswitch is because the field is surronded by other fields which during the summer have standing crops of wheat etc and the sight of a Maverick MT disapearing into a bone dry crop of corn is quite scary. So I will fit killswithes to my large scale as a must at all times.1 point

If your guesstimate of 20-25m range is right...then I would think something is wrong. I have radio sets from the 1980s with more range than that. Failsafe as already mentioned is important to be set and personally I check it everytime before starting the engine- turn Tx on, then Rx and when you turn Tx off the failsafe should operate. A simple way to check range is to turn Tx and Rx on...then walk away from the vehicle whilst operating the steering....when the steering stops working that is your range...(if you get far enough away that you can no longer see if the wheels are turning then you either have good range or need an eye check ). Many things can cause the range to be lower than it should/could be, I will list some things... (and note I only know FM/AM sets but most things will apply to all). Low battery levels at either end. Damaged (or not fully extended) aerials at either end. Built up areas (trees/buildings/car/etc.). Corroded or "dodgy" battery connections or on/off switch. Interference and vibration (this cover a whole host of WTH things that can happen). Finally faulty Tx or Rx.1 point
